Hello Division 27! It’s officially summer, and even the Seattle Sun has graced us with its presence. This month, we’ll be holding a BARBEQUE for our DCM. Feel free to invite friends and family to join us! Just because school isn’t in session doesn’t mean that your club can’t do some service projects! For example, the fourth of July parade was a huge success thanks to Juanita, Lake Washington, and the International Community School. Don’t forget about the rallies going on this summer! It’s a great way for you to get to know other key clubbers, bring some new ideas back to our division and your respective clubs, and to spark that spirit of service before the school year comes around. I hope you all are having an awesome summer, and hopefully I’ll see all of you at our next DCM!
With love and service, Ashley Yoo

July 1-8th ICON 2013 July 5th Secretary Report Due July 17th July DCM/BBQ
June DCM Recap I addressed a few ways to get involved this summer at our DCM, including Redmond’s Derby Days, the 4th of July Parade , and even arranging a homeless shelter feed. There are many ways to get involved. This month, Juanita “hosted” the DCM and shared about it’s goals for the next year and their plans to achieve them. They emphasized the need for advertisement, and they plan to hold a school “kick-off” dance for the Eliminate Project. Another idea floating around it to have a video shown to each homeroom to help advertise the event and the club. If your club has no yet signed up for a month to “host” a DCM, please contact me soon! If you don’t know, the Seattle Rally is coming soon on August 12th! Be sure to preorder your tickets and receive some club officer training before the new school year starts! Another reminder is to send your secretary reports to: PNWSECRETARYREPORTS@GMAIL.COM (not Hakikat’s email—Thanks!) If you missed the June DCM, make sure to attend the July DCM on July 19th at O.O Denny Beach Park. Thanks to those of you who came out this month! See you soon.

During the month of June, the International Community School had the opportunity to visit a local animal cat shelter. They took a new approach to community service by working with animals, providing much needed love and warmth. The event was quite a success and ICS may make it into a regular project. In fact, they’re being published in their local newspaper! I encourage you all to try a new service project this year and get really hands-on. Moments like these are when you realize why you fell in love with service in the first place.
