Toucan Times DUES! Dear Division 27, Fall has arrived and there are plenty of things we need to accomplish! The most important one is DUES!! The dues system has been released and we will work together to make sure we get early bird! During this month I will make sure that every club has at least 15 paid members are in the system. How will I do this?

Well, all treasurers are going to need to meet with me and we will do this together! :) Another task that I need to do is club visitations. So far I have only visited Ingle

moor High School and Lake Washington High School. It was great seeing how different clubs work.

Presidents, please let me know a day that would work well for me to come.

Also, presidents, if you haven't already, please fill out the LtG. Evaluation by October 31st.

Club Updates Lake Washington Key Club kicked off the 2012-2013 school year with TONS of new members. Our first meeting had over 100 students, veterans and new comers.

Jumping right into the spirit of service, we made blankets for our local hospitals. We also started sewing our trauma dolls.

These trauma dolls will go to the Children’s Hospital. They are used for as a therapeutic process for the children to express how they are feeling during their time at the hospital. Not only did we begin on these projects, but Key Club members also participated at our local park clean ups. Park clean ups usually consist of planting trees, clearing out weeds, or picking up trash. Our members help out every Saturday with these park clean ups, it is a great way to show our community that Lake Washington cares.

This month, Inglemoor High School Key Club has been involved in numerous activities such as a volunteering time at a local library, restoring an old trail, and participating in a phone-a-thon.

With our club starting just a few weeks ago and having motivated members, we were able to get a jump start into this year’s volunteering opportunities! One of the events that seemed to get the people enthusiastic about service was the mentioned above, phone-a-thon. The phone-a-thon was a great example of the work done in our community because they were raising money by asking for donations to help children get the education they deserve. People were more than thrilled knowing that they were making a difference to many children who couldn’t afford their education.

Club Updates Continued

Hello everybody! This month ICS has just kicked off our 2012-2013 Key Club! Our club has grown into an eighty person monster!!! A positive, wonderful, community service dedicated monster that is. Our latest project is selling Sounder's tickets with a 30% donation to Project Eliminate!

How cool is that! The ICS Key Club is also teaming up with National Honors Society to put on a Haunted House event in our school! Our Key Clubbers love to volunteer to put on fun events for our school community. This year we are also including fun, Division 27 T-shirts in our dues so everyone has Key Club Spirit Gear! For November (Key Club Month) we are doing a food drive for Hopelink. Very exciting service opportunities coming up! I know we're going to have a great year!

So far, Eastlake has had two meetings and so far we're off to a very promising year. With over 40 members already and it is very reassuring to know, that even the Sophomores and Freshmen who are brand new to Eastlake this year, are already involved in many different community service events. To publicize these events that are already very popular (Elementary school harvest parties, Humane Society Work, Helping Homeless Shelters, etc..)

Eastlake Key Club now has it's own website on Lake Washington's Haiku website. With this website, each and every Key Club member can see when community service opportunities are, when the meetings are, and connect everyone overall. So far, we have several events lined up, and there is absolutely no doubt that with all of the members, Eastlake Key Club will have a tremendous impact with 20 people already signed up for the "Nightmare at Beaver Lake" a haunted house-esk event with each and every member of Key Club wearing their own Key Club t shirt, which was given out at the 2nd meeting. There is no doubt that Eastlake's Key Club certainly has a promising future ahead of it, and personally, I cannot wait for what will happen later in the year.

Bothell High School During the first several meetings, there have been around 35 to 40 people attending the meetings. Service opportunities include the Crystal Springs Harvest Festival, the Spaghetti Bowl sign ups, and a possible future opportunity involving setting up a haunted house. Those attending were informed of when the dues would be due and contact information has been collected.

Officer of the Month

Ponti Das from Inglemoor High School is this months officer of the month! Ponti is a senior and is a great Co-President at his club!

Ponti is great at communicating with me and his club. He has been very helpful with bringing up new ideas for our division. Also, he attends most of the DCMs. Thank you for all your hard work!

1. My favorite part of Key Club is attending the events, especially big events like the rotary auctions and community breakfasts.

2. My favorite thing to do is play sports. I play baseball on a club team and rec basketball. But, I do like to play almost any sport.

3. I like drawing (art school for 7 years!!), hiking, camping (usually go 4-5 over the summer), COFFEE, doing math , hanging out with friends Favorite Color: Turquoise Favorite Food: Kung Pao Chicken Favorite Movie: Bourne Ultimatum Favorite Book: Hunger Games Favorite Candy: Twix

What is Project Educate?

Project Educate is 2012-2013 governors project of the Pacific Northwest District. The funds raised from the Project Educate initiative will be used to aid in furthering the educational development of three schools on the island of Jamaica, as well as fund 160 scholarships for primary school children entering high school.

Merchandise One way we will be raising money for Project Educate is by selling t-shirts and wristbands.

The T-shirts will be $15 and the wristbands $1.

Watch the Sounders FC game while donating money to Project Educate!

This is another way of raising money for Project Educate, Key Club Nights with Sounders FC. Everyone is welcomed to attend these games and for the Portland vs Sounders FC game, 33% of every ticket purchased will be donated to Project Educate and 25% from the Dallas FC vs Sounders FC game!

You can invite your friends, family and everyone else! Tickets must be purchased 15 days before the game, if you have any questions please ask me! I will attach the form to the email!
