SEPTEMBER 2013 VOL 3 — ISSUE 6

Greetings Hey there, Division 27! It’s already September, and all the school work has come in full swing. I hope you all have been having a great first few weeks of school and are quickly determining the necessary steps to start the school year out right. Thank you to those of you that attended the August DCM. We were able to distribute tons of information and really provide ideas to smoothly operate during the school year.

When recruiting members, think about dedicating a single meeting toward disseminating information about Key Club. That’s right! That means you have to get educated about the organization and our District Project! I have full faith in your abilities, and I can’t wait to see the clubs start to become more active. If you have any questions or concerns, never hesitate to ask me!

Membership Recruitment The beginning of the school year is the prime time to recruit new members in to Key Club! If your school has a club fair, that’s a great way to advertise what your club is all about! Below is a sample showing what you should have on your tri-folds to best summarize what Key Club is all about!

Make the title large to attract people’s attention!

Highlight the District and District Convention! It’s a great incentive to join Key Club when they know that it’s such a large, energetic organization!

Be sure to utilize the resources from Key Club International! They have TONS of graphics you can use!

Information Meeting! Regular Meeting Time/Date

What is Key Club? Officers? DCON 2014: Level Up in Service DCON is short for the annual District Convention where Key Clubbers from around the Pacific Northwest gather to learn about and celebrate service. Officers receive training, and outgoing officers are honored. It’s a lot of fun and you meet hundreds of new people, uniting people by a common value for service.

Tent City in King County is a temporary encampment of up to 100 homeless persons who live in a group of tents on the property of a host for approximately 90 days. The camps often have groups come in to serve meals to the homeless. It’s incredible being able to hear their stories.

Nickelodeon’s

WORLD WIDE DAY OF PLAY

TENT CITY KING COUNTY Homeless Shelter

This year, the Nickelodeon Worldwide Day of Play is Saturday, September 21st. The purpose of this day is to encourage kids and parents to turn off the TV and play outside. This is a wonderful opportunity to get Builder's Clubs or K-Kids more involved with your Key Club!

Seattle Rally Recap On Monday, August 12th, hundreds of PNW key clubbers gathered at Hazen High School to attend PNW’s annual SEATTLE RALLY! The excitement was tangible as students united under the common value for community service. The attendees received officer training, learned more about Key Club and our district, and established friendships. Yusuf Tura, our guest speaker, inspired the Key Clubbers to value their work in the community, because collectively we can change the world. I want to thank all of you that attended the rally. I hope you all had an amazing time, revving up spirit for this upcoming school year! Together we raised more than $2,500 for the Eliminate Project! If you weren’t able to attend this year, stay on the lookout for other ways to get involved in the district.

District Goal: $24,000

It may seem like a large number, but with the 12,000+ members in Key Club, each member only needs to contribute $2 to reach our goal! I’d love our division to make the Eliminate Project a large focus throughout the year! Be sure to check out the Eliminate website for resources for your club to use!
