The Future of Tourism

Origin & Mission

In September 2022, the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) launched the Tourism Innovation Incubator (TII) and the first Tourism Innovation Challenge as part of the Ministry of Tourism’s Blue Ocean Strategy to drive innovation in the tourism sector. Following the success of the inaugural challenge in 2023, TEF is now in its second iteration. Since its inception, TII has received over 250 applications, reflecting the growing interest in tourism innovation.

What Makes This Programme Unique?

Support from the Idea Stage – No MVPs or revenue required.

Tourism-Focused Innovation – All projects must be designed to enhance the tourism industry.

Virtual & In-Person Engagements – The programme is primarily virtual, with select in-person events such as pitch competitions and networking sessions with investors and key stakeholders, including Minister of Tourism Hon. Edmund Bartlett.

Strategic Partnerships – We collaborate with established business service intermediaries (BSIs) to execute our programme. Since inception, the TEF has partnered with the Technology Innovation Centre of the University of Technology, Jamaica, Founder Institute and Tech Beach Retreat, bringing in local and international experts to guide participants on AI, marketing & branding, and business scaling
