isc golf is played much like traditional golf. Instead of a ball and clubs, however, players throw a flying disc at a basket and try to get their disc into the basket in the fewest number of throws. Rossland has Thin Air, an outstanding disc golf course for summer play. Thin Air is a full-size, 18-basket course with concrete tee pads and great views of the Rossland Range. A round takes about two hours to play. The Thin Air Disc Golf Course is located at the Blackjack Ski Club in Rossland and is available for play from when the snow melts in the spring to when there is enough snow to ski in the fall. It is free to play a round. Remember it is a litter-free zone so please pack out anything you pack in. A variety of discs, information on rules, and other equipment and supplies are available for sale at Seven Summits Service and Hardware, across from the Rossland Museum and Discovery Centre. For excellent reference on video clinics and basics of technique visit www.discraft.com.

DISC GOLF RULES Object: Have fun and complete the course in the fewest throws. Tee Off: Each of the 18 holes has a tee area and each tee shot must be thrown from within this tee area. Lie: The spot where the disc comes to rest. Throwing Order: Lowest score on the previous hole throws first from the tee. After that it is determined by distance from the basket, with the furthest first. Fairway Throws: Can be completed with a run-up but must be released before crossing the lie. One supporting point on release should be directly behind the lie. Putts: Any throw within 10 meters (approximately 33 ft.) is considered a putt. Falling or stepping past the lie before the disc comes to rest is not permitted. The player must demonstrate full control of balance before advancing toward the target.
Completion of Hole: A hole is complete when the disc is in the basket or supported by the chains. Discs on top of the basket do not count.
3
Out of Bounds: The paved section of the road on the left side of the Hole 1 and the private property on the left side of Hole 2 are out of bounds. A throw that lands out of bounds must be played no more than 1 metre in bounds, no closer to the basket, from where it last was in bounds. Courtesy: Do not throw if other players or walkers are in range. Respect the Course: Please do not litter. Carry out any trash that you carry onto the course. It is even better if you can bring back more than you brought in. Do not alter trees or obstacles. Friends Don’t Let Friends Litter
