CHILDREN’S FUN GUIDE

Let’s Grow Memories Together This Summer! The Grosse Pointe Yacht Club is looking forward to an amazing summer! With several renovations completed and the addition of brand new offerings, our summer children’s programs continue to grow and allow your children to have a blast in a fun and safe environment. Did you know that grandchildren of members and sponsored friends can participate in GPYC’s Junior Sailing, Swim Team, Tennis and Day Camp? Register Online for GPYC Summer Programs Registering for multiple summer programs at the GPYC is now easier than ever before. The Club is no longer using paper registration forms. Junior Sailing, Swim Team and Day Camp will all be using the same online registration software called TeamSnap. Sailing used TeamSnap last year, with great success. The software allows the coaches to communicate effectively with parents, handle invoicing efficiently and keep important information such as allergies or other health information right at their fingertips. Parents can sign up for Junior Tennis and Swim Lessons via email. All of the information you need, as well as registration links, is available at www.gpyc.org/fun.

Junior Sailing Program GPYC’s Junior Sailing program is recognized on a local and national level. We’ve graduated sailors who have gone on to the Olympics and professional sailing careers. The programs are not only educational and competitive, our sailors thoroughly have fun too. Sailing Director Wally Cross Wally Cross is excited to be leading our team of U.S. Sailing certified instructors. Each is a talented sailor and teacher, and we are confident that you will be pleased with the progress students will achieve. Together, they will work to meet the individual needs and sailing goals of all interested members. As a professional sailor since 1985, Wally has raced in over 1,000 sail boat races and has also sailed worldwide. Youth Sailing Director Emily Simon A Grosse Pointe native and GPYC Junior Sailing alumnus, Emily is returning to the program this year to inspire and teach a new generation of sailors. Her history includes being on the first high school team from Grosse Pointe to qualify for national competitions. She continued to compete after high school in local and national competitions, earning multiple racing awards. Sessions
