Once every 14 years, each of the 14 Clubs that are part of the MICSA organization host the MICSA Swim Finals. This has traditionally been a three-day event where each of the Clubs bring their top swimmers to compete.
Plans for this event take many hours of time

and effort from the committee chairs and their committee volunteers. Planning for our event at the GPYC started early, and at the time the rules for attendance in person kept changing due to the pandemic. The four Chairs adjusted on the fly as the months passed, and really took the event from a potential remote function in 2021 to a fantastic onsite event. The structure of the event changed a bit in that GPYC hosted 3-4 clubs per day for four days in late July 2021.
Because of the herculean efforts of these four chairs, the incredible GPYC Staff, and the dedicated Member volunteers, the event was a huge success. The Club was proud to present the Members of the Year Award to Julie Schuetze, Maureen Gleason, Jim Boutrous, and Steven Beckett. Congratulations to this great Committee team!
Yachtsman of the Year

The GPYC has a storied history of sailing, and that history can’t be discussed without mentioning Past Commodore Kevin Granger. For the past few decades, Commodore Granger has worked hard to make sure the annual Bluenose Regatta ran effortlessly at the GPYC, and 2021 was no exception. Granger has also been a part of various GPYC races for over 40 years. Congratulations to our Yachtsman of the Year!
