LEADERS IN PLAY Age: 14 to 17 years Location: AFLC
This two-day leadership crash course mixes the fundamentals of physical literacy with basic leadership skills. Participants will gain the knowledge and skills necessary in order to volunteer in our seasonal recreation programs for the next session. Our engaging and experienced instructor will walk participants through coaching basics, exciting leadership exercises and provide an introduction to physical literacy. This stimulating new leadership program will provide teens with an opportunity to stock their ever-growing toolkit. Successful completion of this two-day course will result in placement as a volunteer in a Spring 2021 recreation program. Note: Placements must occur in the seasonal programs that take place directly after the training course. Participants must complete a SelfDeclaration for working with Vulnerable Persons form prior to beginning their placement.

RED CROSS – BABYSITTER’S TRAINING Age: 11 to 17 years Location: AFLC
Participate in fun activities and gain hands-on practice in this Red Cross course. Participants learn how to provide care to children in a variety of age groups, and how to prevent and respond to emergencies. The course also offers youth the skills to promote themselves as babysitters to prospective families.

This Red Cross program offers basic first aid and safety skills for youth. Participants learn about being safe when they are without the direct supervision of a parent, guardian, or trusted adult, both at home and in their communities.
