IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR YOU AND YOUR CAMPER! 2020 SUMMER CAMP DATES
Summer Camp programs run from June 29 to September 4, 2020. Camps are cancelled on Wednesday, July 1 and Monday, August 3. TOWN OF AURORA SUMMER CAMP STAFF • Treat all campers, parents/guardians and patrons with respect, dignity and honesty. • Are a minimum of 16 years of age. • Are trained in Standard First-Aid & CPR C, AED, AODA, have a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check, as well as attend extensive pre-camp training which includes Behaviour Management and Physical Literacy training programs.
COMMUNITY CODE OF CONDUCT
Our staff will make every effort to accommodate your child’s needs and integrate them into programming, however we reserve the right with our “Community Code of Conduct” to remove and withdraw your child from the program should their behavior cause harm to themselves, participants, staff or property. INTEGRATION SERVICES The Town of Aurora welcomes participants of all ages and abilities to join our Summer Camp programs. Every effort will be made for a child to participate at a level suitable to their abilities, support needs, program choice and facility access. Arrangements for assistance may be available with one of the Integration Counsellors or Volunteers.
HOW TO REGISTER FOR SUPPORT 1. Once you have selected the weeks of camp you are interested in, complete the Summer Camp Registration as well as your 1:1 Integration Support registration using the codes below. 2. Contact our Community Programmer, Victoria Kendra, to discuss your registration via email at vkendra@aurora.ca 3. Complete a participant “Intake Form” that is to be reviewed by the Community Programmer to determine what kind of support is required in order for the participant to be successful in the integrated, recreational setting. 4. Note – Registration for the corresponding week of camp MUST be completed 10 or more business days prior to the start of the camp week. Failure to do so will result in your child being withdrawn from 1:1 Integration Support for that week. Note – If the week you are interested in is full, please place yourself on the waiting list. PLEASE NOTE • Final decisions regarding support options are at the discretion of Town Full-Time staff. The Town reserves the right to determine when a staff or volunteer is required based on support requirements disclosed at time of intake. It is at the discretion of Town of Aurora staff to determine whether or not a participant’s support needs are beyond the scope of staff training and knowledge. In these cases, parents/guardians may be required to provide their own support, which will come at their own expense should they be unable to secure funding from a third party. • When considering a recreation experience, please consider the individual needs, and that the recreation integrated setting may not be suitable for all persons with disabilities. Health and Safety of participants and staff is paramount, which could result in participants being denied access to the program. • Participants expecting financial assistance from a third party organization (for example: PLAY) are REQUIRED to complete their registration into the appropriate 1:1 support codes regardless of when funding is confirmed. • Additional fees for 1:1 Integration Support Staff will be applied for non-residents.

Extended Care is available for FULL DAY Summer Camp Programs. Children registered for AM and/or PM Extended Care will be supervised by qualified and energetic Camp Staff. Activities will include games, crafts, table games, cards and more. Extended Care Locations Each full day camp has been assigned an Extended Care Location. Please refer to the chart below for specific locations. ACC – Aurora Community Centre; AFLC – Aurora Family Leisure Complex; SARC – Stronach Aurora Recreation Complex. AM Extended Care – 7AM to 8:45AM PM Extended Care – 4PM to 6PM Campers must be picked up by 6:00pm. Please phone 905-726-4770 if you are running late. An additional fee of $5.00/child for each 15-minute interval will be charged. NOTE FEE 5 Days • AM care: $50.00 If the camp you register for runs for 2 weeks, you will need to register for 2 separate weeks of Extended Care. • PM care: $50.00 Please see below for all Extended Care registration codes.
