Hospice of North Central Ohio (HNCO)/Hospice of Knox County invite you to participate in Sending Hope, a special service of remembrance. The event will commence on Saturday, Aug. 17, at the beautiful, world-renowned Schnormeier Gardens in Gambier, Ohio.
The gardens will open at 4 p.m. to allow visitors to explore the gardens and to enjoy moments of peace and harmony. During the memorial service, guests will experience music, poetry, and plein air painting from local artists and HNCO staff. Les Harmeyer, local drummer and vocalist for the band Six Miles to Nellie, will play acoustic guitar accompanied by HNCO volunteer coordinator and singer, Danielle England. Local watercolor artist and member of Kudos Artists Co-op, Jim Leitz, will demonstrate plein air painting, while capturing the essence of the event as it unfolds.
After a brief memorial service in the Serenity Garden, we will release live butterflies to honor and remember your loved ones. The names of those we are honoring will be read during the memorial service.
Kathy Wantland, HNCO Bereavement Coordinator has organized this event for the past two years. She stated, “To be able to have the butterfly release at such a special place, to remember and honor our loved ones who have died, means so much. It brings people together as a community. Releasing the butterflies, the music, reading the names, really means so much to each person who comes. We are so blessed that Ted Schnormeier has allowed us to use his gardens and to enjoy their beauty. To be able to embrace the beauty of the butterflies and releasing them to remember our loved ones is such a lovely sentiment.”
You are invited to purchase a butterfly (or multiple butterflies) by going to our website below or by scanning the QR code on this page. Butterflies are $25 each and must be purchased by Aug. 1.
