The Exchange Club of Mount Vernon & Knox County is proud to present the Field of Honor at Ariel-Foundation Park over Labor Day weekend (Friday, Aug. 30, to Monday, Sept. 2). This aweinspiring event will feature 500 United States flags, each standing as a silent tribute to the heroes among us.
This event offers a unique opportunity for our community to come together to remember and honor the many heroes who have touched our lives. Whether they are first responders, community or faith leaders, military veterans, active-duty personnel, medical professionals, or beloved family members, this tribute allows us to recognize and celebrate their contributions. Each flag represents an individual and carries a story— stories of courage, sacrifice, and service.
Special activities are planned throughout the weekend. We encourage everyone to visit ArielFoundation Park during Labor Day weekend to experience this powerful display of community spirit and patriotism.
Community members are invited to participate by purchasing and dedicating a flag in honor or memory of their local hero. Each flagpole will be tagged with the honoree’s name and adorned with a ribbon, and these flags will fly proudly for the duration of the event. This is a meaningful way to show gratitude and ensure that their legacy is honored.
