Grants

Townsville City Grants and Partnerships make good things happen in our community! We have provided $460,000 of support to community organisations this year.

Townsville City Grants and Partnerships are open to the Townsville community all year round. There are three categories to choose from – economic, social and environmental.

Economic grants aim to develop a prosperous city, social grants support a city for the people and environmental grants build a clean and green community. Applying is easy, visit townsville.qld.gov.au/grants or phone 13 48 10 to speak with one of our Grants Officers today.

Are you DISASTER ready?

When it comes to extreme weather events in North Queensland, it’s not a matter of ‘if’ but ‘when’.

Like the rest of the world Townsville has been hit hard this year with COVID-19, but this doesn’t stop natural disasters from happening. You still need to be prepared.

During disasters, emergency services may not be able to reach you because of high winds, fire, floodwater, fallen power lines or debris across the road. Emergency services will be focused on assisting the most vulnerable in the community during an event. That is why you need to be prepared to stay in your home or evacuate for at least three days.

The best time to prepare for a disaster is well before one is even on its way. Organise your emergency plan with your family and or housemates, prepare your emergency kit now, and know where you are going to evacuate if needed. Evacuation centres will be available but need to be a last resort option with COVID-19 risks still in play.

Cyclones and floods may be part of life in the north, but we must not become complacent. This wet season make sure you are disaster ready.
