SPRING Spring. What a great season, with beautiful ingredients readily available so we can create some new dishes for the menu. At JAM, we will introduce some lighter options on all our menus from breakfast though to the dinner degustation. Even at home, Spring is a great time to enjoy salads, barbecues and fresh, lighter meals.
SPRING FO O DI E & SOCIA L EVE NT S Townsville traditionally has a lot of events in our winter months, so it is great to see them continue across into Spring. One of the biggest outdoor formal dinners the city has seen will be the Townsville City Council's T150 Gala Dinner Under the Stars. Over 800 guests are expected to enjoy a stunning dinner at Strand Park. Some of the city’s leading hospitality operators will be catering at the event, such as JAM, A Touch of Salt, Michels, Essentially Fresh, Chefs on Call and Seasoned - and we will all be creating special menus to celebrate the occasion. Magnetic Island Race Week is back at the start of September, offering a variety of events and activities. We are so lucky to have Magnetic Island so close. Townsville BMW Taste the North is back for the second year and this is another great foodie event. Saturday
22nd October will see the black tie gala dinner showcasing amazing local performing artists, chefs and produce from the region. Then, on Sunday October 23rd we have a ‘Paddock to Plate’ farm long table luncheon up at the Harvey Range Tea Rooms, where we will take over the old farm shed. Guests will sit back and enjoy beautiful local produce, while listening to Townsville’s own Amy Zaghini. Be sure to visit www.tastethenorth.com.au for more information. Melbourne Cup this year is on the 1st November, the first day of Summer... and I hope you have already booked your favourite restaurant. If you haven’t experienced a JAM Melbourne Cup, you're missing out! It’s a fun day of food, champagne and activities including live coverage of the main race.

The wine makers notes: 'Crunchy pears and apple, complex nuances of oak and ginger, hints of stone fruit and lemon and lime. A full flavored style Pinot Gris'. Come in and try it with our Salt flake and Sichuan pepper dusted calamari on Malaysian chilli sauce.

Only 28 Queensland restaurants have had their wine list recognised this year. The prestigious award is judged by a highly acclaimed panel of Australian and international wine experts. The top Queensland gong went to Stokehouse Q, one of my favorite Brisbane restaurants. To
