Apple Barrel set to open Saturday Lyman Orchards’ Apple Barrel market in Middlefield will open Saturday with a day full of tastings, music and activities to welcome back customers and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. The day will start at 9 a.m. with activities through 2 p.m., although the store will remain open until 6 p.m.
“I've had a lot of people this winter asking me when we're opening, so I suspect we're gonna have a good turnout,” said owner John Lyman. Spokesman Tim Burt said the market will have live Irish music for about an hour around 10 a.m., thanks to the duo Dublin Down, with Monica Hamilton McCarthy and Patrick McCarthy. They will also offer
holiday food items like Irish soda bread, corned beef and cabbage specials and leprechaun cupcakes. “We felt it was important to celebrate the season as well,” Burt said. Staff from the Levi Coe Library will visit from 9 to 10:30 a.m. for storytime and a craft.
