Commercial kennel rules revised By Bailey Wright Town Times
Starting Wednesday, Dec. 26, commercial kennels will no longer be included in the town’s zoning regulations, but may be added back as soon as February. The Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously Dec. 5 to eliminate commercial kennels, which appeared under the agriculture section of the regulations. The change will not affect existing kennels. The commission voted to hold a public hearing on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 8 p.m. to address a motion to add “commercial kennels” as a special exception to zoning regulations. The special exception process would allow the commission to conduct a more detailed review of any future kennel plan, including adding conditions or requirements on the applicant in order to gain approval, according to commission chairman

Every year, the group dedicates the program to a team, person, coach, sometimes in remembrance of someone. This year that person is Henry Bugai, Jr., who had no idea he was to be honored. “A lot of great people we’ve dedicated the program to … a lot of great members, so it’s an honor,” Bugai said afterward. Bugai has been president of the group for five years and
a member for about six. He ran cross country and played varsity basketball for Wally Camp and Todd Salva, and graduated in 1991. He has since coached Little League, recreation basketball and travel basketball in town. “It’s been 28 years and I can still hear the crowd cheering for Henry Bugai when he entered a game,” Salva stated in the program. “He had tremendous work ethic, was loyal to his teammates and always demonstrated superi-

Letter to the Editor Fact-finding trip? To the editor: So three Board of Education members, a principal and a teacher went to China on taxpayer money? I guess some animals are more equal than others. Anyway, I wonder what kind of facts they uncovered. Lke the millions upon millions that died during the Chinese Revolution, which turned China into a communist country, a country with no liberty, no free speech, no voting and no personal freedoms? What facts were they looking for? The fact of forced abortion, prisons camps, the facts of a dictatorship? Did these people want to bring these facts back to good old Region 13? Folks, the trip was a waste of time. All the little children are already being taught the virtues of communism every day, and not only here, but in colleges too. The people who went to find facts in China should have stayed there, for China is so wonderful and enlightened. If they knew any facts about China at all, they would have stayed right here in the land of liberty. Mark J. Czaja Middletown

I think the darkness makes us pull into ourselves. Sit with ourselves. Catch our breath. It’s become a magical time for me. I wrap the night around me, and I respect it for the gifts it brings. I love the solitude of it all.

Pay yourself: Build a line item for a savings account or emergency fund. Even $25 a month can make a difference over time. Make short term goals: Instead of resolving to save thousands in 2019, aim to save $20, $25 or even $100 a week or month – and celebrate each small victory. Spring clean – in January: Clean your closets, the garage and basement, then list items for sale online. Decluttering will save money (and sanity).
Wait 24 hours: To mitigate impulse buying, wait 24 hours before making an unplanned purchase. It’s likely the impulse will likely wear off.

Tips for sticking to financial resolutions include:
Drop cable: It’s a monthly expense that can be replaced painlessly and inexpensively with several options. Update your W4: While many look forward to a big tax refund, it’s better to adjust withholdings to ensure you are paying the correct amount of taxes. This may mean a few extra dollars each paycheck.
