Fitting Instructions
TOWBAR RN74A For the RENAULT MODUS SEPT 2004 -
MATERIALS A 1 Cross Bar with European facing to 94/20/EC A50-1 C 1 Right Hand Side Plate (has distinguishing notch in its upper edge). D 1 Left Hand Side Plate E 2 Bushes, right hand side (59mm long, 17mm O.D.) F 2 Spreader Plates G 4 M10x100x1.5mm Bolts, Nuts, Lock Washers and 8 off Washers (OD 20mm) H 4 M12x40x1.75mm Bolts, Nuts, Lock Washers and 8 off Washers (OD 25mm) J 2 Bushes, left hand side (64mm long, 17mm O.D.) CB 2 M16 x40X2.00mm Bolts, Nuts, Lock Washers FITTING 1. Lower and release the spare wheel following the instructions provided by the vehicle manufacturer. See spare wheel cover. 2. Remove arch fasteners to improve access for mounting points and remove mastic compound on outer and inner faces of the chassis rail. 3. Attach side plates (C and D) using bushes (E and J), bolts (G). Use Spreader Plates (F) on the inner edge of the chassis rail. Please note that the Right Hand Side Plate (C) has a distinguishing notch in its upper edge. Loosely attach Cross Bar (A) to Side Plates (C and D) using bolts (H). 4. Trim the central and off side plastic lower bumper support brackets and cut the lower edge of the bumper as illustrated in the diagrams below. 5. Ensure the faceplate is vertical and tighten all fixings to their recommended torque settings. To prevent moisture ingress, seal all fixings that pass through the chassis with a silicon sealant. Finally raise the spare wheel into its original housing. Note: This towbar must be used with either a Witter Towball (part number Z1X) or Class A50-1 or A50-X towball dimensionally Conforming to A50-1 with a ‘D’ and 'S' value greater than or equal to that of the towbar. Please refer to the vehicle specification for the trailer weight and nose limits, which must be observed. Recommended torque settings: M8 - 27Nm, M10 - 53 Nm, M12 - 95 Nm, M14 - 150 Nm, M16 - 214 Nm BUMPER SUPPORT BRACKETS
