PROBLEM/ ISSUE TO BE ADRESS

INTRO

DUCTION

One learns through various institutions since the start of age but the role of an educational institute school in making one capable enough to make use of his/her talents fruitfully for the development of a nation remains above all. How enjoyable is the learning and teaching process? How conducive is those spaces we design for learning and teaching?

NO architecture school in Benin.

02

INABILITY TO CREATE A SENSE OF COMMUNITY.

03

Architecture with no Art.

04

The situation creates no opportunity for the youth who aspire to become architects. This is a disincentive for poor and needy students, as the only available option is for one to go outside the country in order to get professional architectural education.

School designs generally lack the potential to create a sense of community and space use that often denies the existence of variations in types and styles of learning. This affects the learning and teaching quality as the design does not consider the wellbeing and social interaction of its users.

The interaction between artist and trained architects is not so encourage in the architect training journey.

Poor conservation of local art and craftmanship No ground where Beninese can learn art and craftmenship in a formal way. The slow evolution of our art and artisanal heritage as there is no system in place to ensure its conservation and promotion.

Aside climatic consideration which inform the shape, i also wanted to communicate the idea that artists and architects are from a superior dimension. Their abilility to shape reality using just lines make them a different kind of people. They are closer e to God and the building is elevated to represent that idea.
