VitrA QuantumFlush

A brand new flushing technology

Engineered based on the principle of laminar flow, QuantumFlush is designed to clean by spreading the water in the most powerful way, without splashing or noise over the entire inner surface of the toilet bowl.

Superior performance using the power of water

QuantumFlush is designed to optimize the energy of water. The flushing system achieves maximum performance thanks to the laminar flow principle that forms the basis of its technology and provides cleaning that is superior to other toilet bowls.

The perfect cleaning technology

At the rear of the QuantumFlush is a strong momentum manifold with 3 outlets designed using the laminar flow principle. This engineering solution converts the turbulent flow of water in the manifold into laminar flow. This prevents energy loss by allowing the water to flow smoothly inside the toilet bowl. The energy of the water is maintained so that it reaches every point and cleans the bowl in the best possible way.

Powerful yet splash free

In current flushing systems, water particles collide in the bowl due to irregular flow, resulting in splashing and the spread of bioaerosols in the bathroom environment. QuantumFlush, on the other hand, provides a cleaning power that not only exceeds the norm, it also prevents water from splashing and provides a hygienic toilet experience.

Powerful yet silent

QuantumFlush utilises the power of water in the most efficient and quiet way. Due to the characteristics of laminar flow, it reduces the turbulent kinetic energy of the water and prevents the noise caused by the chaotic collisions of the water that is flushed. This allows QuantumFlush to provide a much quieter flush than standard toilets.

HOW ADVANCED LIGHTING SOLUTIONS ARE TRANSFORMING CORPORATE SPACES IN SAUDI ARABIA. THE INTERIORS LIGHTING INDUSTRY IN SAUDI ARABIA IS EXPERIENCING A SIGNIFICANT TRANSFORMATION

evelopers are evermore focusing on creating more efficient, sustainable, and aesthetically pleasing corporate environments. This shift is driven by advances in technology, increased emphasis on sustainability, and the growing demand for innovative lighting solutions tailored to the corporate sector rather than domestic spaces. The Kingdom’s Vision 2030 is playing a major role in accelerating this development, fostering rapid growth in the construction and real estate sectors, and spurring demand for cutting-edge lighting solutions.

THE GROWING DEMAND FOR SMART LIGHTING IN CORPORATE DEVELOPMENTS

Corporate lighting in Saudi Arabia has evolved beyond mere functionality. Today, lighting is used to create dynamic environments that boost productivity, promote well-being, and align with sustainability goals. According to industry reports, the interior lighting market in the Kingdom is projected to grow significantly over the next few years, driven by an increasing number of corporate developments across key cities such as Riyadh, Jeddah, and NEOM.

As Chris Newman, Executive Director of NEOM’s Hotel Division, explained, “Lighting plays a pivotal role in shaping the ambiance and functionality of our projects. The goal is to create spaces that are not only visually appealing but also efficient and sustainable.”

One of the leading innovations transforming the corporate lighting sector is smart lighting systems. These smart systems, which can

 CHRIS NEWMAN EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF NEOM’S HOTEL DIVISION

be automated and controlled remotely, are increasingly being incorporated into modern corporate buildings. They are designed to optimize energy consumption, reduce operational costs, and provide employees with personalized lighting settings that improve their comfort and productivity.

Lutron Electronics, a global leader in lighting control systems, is at the forefront of this trend. Sana Choyakh, Business Development and sales Manager from the company stated,

"Lighting control in corporate buildings is not just about energy efficiency—it's about creating adaptive, smart environments that enhance productivity and well-being with a Human Centric Philosophy. As Saudi Arabia moves forward with Vision 2030, integrating advanced lighting systems will play a key role in shaping sustainable, innovative, and future-ready

workspaces within the framework of smart, connected cities. These systems will contribute to the Kingdom's ambitions for modernization and economic growth, ensuring that corporate buildings are a vital part of the broader vision for smarter, more integrated urban living."

KEY TRENDS SHAPING THE CORPORATE LIGHTING SECTOR

The corporate lighting industry is evolving rapidly, with new technologies and design trends reshaping how light is used in commercial spaces. Some of the key trends in corporate lighting for construction developments include:

SMART LIGHTING AND AUTOMATION

Smart lighting systems, which can be programmed to adjust based on occupancy or daylight levels, are becoming increasingly popular in corporate spaces. These systems are not only energy-efficient but also highly customizable, allowing businesses to create the right ambiance for different types of work environments.

Lutron’s Quantum system, for example, integrates lighting, shading, and HVAC controls to maximize energy savings and enhance comfort in workspaces. By using occupancy sensors and daylight harvesting techniques, such systems can reduce energy consumption by up to 60%, making them a top choice for eco-conscious corporations.

 SANA CHOYAKH, LUTRON ELECTRONICS

Human-centric lighting boosts employee productivity

HUMAN-CENTRIC LIGHTING (HCL)

Human-centric lighting is a growing trend in the corporate sector, aiming to create lighting solutions that align with natural human circadian rhythms. These systems adjust light color and intensity throughout the day, mimicking natural sunlight and helping employees feel more alert and energized.

Human-centric lighting is no longer a luxury. It’s becoming a necessity in modern corporate environments, where employee well-being and productivity are key concerns. Studies have shown that proper lighting can lead to improved concentration, reduced eye strain, and enhanced mood, making it a valuable investment for corporate developers.

SUSTAINABLE LIGHTING SOLUTIONS

Sustainability is at the core of many corporate lighting strategies in Saudi Arabia. With the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 focusing heavily on environmental preservation and energy efficiency, there is a strong push towards the adoption of LED lighting, solar-powered systems, and other eco-friendly solutions.

LED technology remains one of the most popular choices for corporate lighting due to its long lifespan, low energy consumption, and reduced maintenance costs. Many companies are also investing in solar-powered lighting systems, particularly in areas where renewable energy is more feasible, such as outdoor corporate campuses or parking lots.

INTEGRATION OF LIGHTING WITH BUILDING MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS (BMS)

The integration of lighting systems with Building Management Systems (BMS) is a crucial trend in the development of smart corporate buildings. These integrated systems allow for the seamless control of all building functions, from lighting and HVAC to security and fire safety. This holistic approach not only increases operational efficiency but also provides significant cost savings over time.

DESIGN AND AESTHETICS

Lighting has become a critical design element in corporate interiors. Modern designs emphasize a blend of functionality and aesthetics, where lighting fixtures are not only tools for illumination but also key contributors to the overall visual identity of a space. Whether through minimalist linear lighting, decorative pendants, or recessed fixtures, lighting plays a significant role in reinforcing the brand identity of corporate spaces.

CASE STUDY: NEOM AND THE FUTURE OF CORPORATE LIGHTING

NEOM, one of Saudi Arabia’s most ambitious giga-projects, is setting new standards for corporate lighting and smart city design. The project, which is being built as a model for urban sustainability, is leveraging cuttingedge lighting technologies to reduce energy consumption and create a visually stunning corporate environment.

Lighting systems at NEOM will be fully integrated with smart building management solutions, ensuring that all lighting operates efficiently and contributes to the project’s ambitious sustainability goals. The use of intelligent, human-centric lighting is also expected to enhance the productivity and wellbeing of those working in NEOM’s corporate spaces.

Chris Newman from NEOM’s Hotel Division added, “At NEOM, we are not just building corporate offices; we are creating dynamic environments where lighting plays a key role in promoting well-being, productivity, and sustainability. The lighting solutions we are

You sleep better

incorporating here will set a new benchmark for corporate developments globally.”

CONCLUSION

The corporate lighting industry in Saudi Arabia is poised for significant growth as developers prioritize energy efficiency, sustainability, and smart technology integration in their projects. With the backing of Vision 2030 and the emergence of mega-projects like NEOM, the demand for advanced lighting solutions in corporate spaces will continue to rise.

As lighting becomes an integral part of workplace design, companies like Lutron Electronics are leading the way with innovative products that not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of corporate interiors but also contribute to environmental goals. The future of corporate lighting in Saudi Arabia is bright, both literally and figuratively.

Simon Shaya: We have seen a consistent demand for products that address convenience, hygiene, performance, and sustainability. Contactless technology, such as touchless faucets and toilets, has grown in importance as consumers prioritize hygiene and wellness, especially after the pandemic. QuantumFlush is a perfect example of how we’re meeting these demands, as it combines performance with health-focused design. Consumers are also more conscious of environmental impacts, so products like our recycled washbasins are particularly appealing.

Saudi Projects: How do you envision the future of bathroom design and functionality, and how

REDEFINING PROGRESS PIONEERING THE BIOTECH ERA

JUST IMAGINE, YOU FIND YOURSELF IN A PARK OR ON A STREET, AND BY MERELY TOUCHING A PLANT, YOU CAN LIGHT UP THE ENTIRE AREA. IT’S A SCENE STRAIGHT FROM THE PAGES OF A SCI-FI NOVEL, YET RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW, BIOO, A VISIONARY COMPANY FOUNDED IN BARCELONA IN 2015, IS FORGING AHEAD TO MAKE THIS BREATHTAKING VISION A REALITY!

In my 40 years as a business journalist across three continents, Bioo is, without any doubt, the most innovative and exciting company I have ever encountered. Bold statement, you say? Allow me to elaborate. Better still, allow Pablo Vidarte, a born inventor, entrepreneur, and CEO of Bioo to take up the story.

“The beginning was very stereotypical as a story because it began as a dream in the middle of the night. Once awake, I had a very clear goal: to create a world where we could generate energy from nature. To actually create the first biotech cities. Similar to how the industrial revolution brought about significant changes to cities, we believe that biotech and the first biotech cities can do the same.

“So, I created a team of volunteers at first, who were engineers, biotechnologists, and many other kinds of scientists. We first started creating biological reactors, which are able to generate energy from soil, and produced a prototype.”

As ambitions go, this is right up there with major milestones such as the Human Genome Project: the ambitious goal to map the entire human genome, achieved in the early 21st century, which revolutionized medicine and biology. Yes, it’s that significant, and equally crucial for a world that requires a rapid and efficient ‘re-set’.

Given the magnitude of the task, Pablo's expertise makes him the ideal person to lead this initiative. His remarkable journey began at just eight years old when he started programming video games, and by 16, he was already making waves by challenging NASA and the Spanish army to revolutionize external combustion engines. “I wanted to perfect a system that NASA produced in 2002 oriented to power cars,” he says, and that’s exactly what he did. Pablo modestly describes this achievement as “pretty cool,” even though he managed to improve efficiency by an astonishing 60%.

In my 40 years as a business journalist across three continents, Bioo is, without any doubt, the most innovative and exciting company I have ever encountered
 PABLO VIDARTE - BIOO CEO

POWERING TOMORROW WITH NATURE

“We’re working with a lot of very different technologies,” Pablo continues, the first of which was the bioreactor, which works like a battery that has microorganisms inside—like in The Matrix!

"We're harnessing the power from the interaction of living organisms and organic matter to produce energy. Throughout their life, they just eat organic matter in the soil, and in that process, they set electrons free; they generate energy the same way our stomach does. In our stomachs, you liberate that energy in the shape of heat, but what we do, before it transforms into heat, is we collect those free electrons with two carbon sponges that create electricity.

“On top of that, the same way that your stomach collects gases, here we’re generating hydrogen. However, hydrogen is really unstable, and it needs to combine with something. So what we did is combine the

hydrogen with the oxygen in the air and they bind together, creating water. We’re literally generating water out of soil and thin air.”

The water, which is essentially water vapor, is used for sub-surface irrigation of a field, and it also generates heat from above as it passes through the soil—it’s like a natural air-conditioning system that produces cooler vapor. This product is called the Bioo Panel— it’s the first product on the market in history that allows parks and gardens to make money instead of you having to spend it. Some water is still required to irrigate the product but this method reduces water consumption by around 50% compared to regular irrigated natural environments. This groundbreaking product will disrupt the market.

WORKING WITH LIVING THINGS BIOLUMINESCENCE

Bioo has several other technologies poised to revolutionize their fields. One of these, aside from providing a material impact, provides

an aesthetic one, too. In this instance, Bioo is working with three different methods, as Pablo explains: “The first is natural bioluminescence, working with living things, fungi in this case, which are naturally bioluminescence. We work with 58 different species, and three of them are native to the Arabian peninsula.

“We also work with an organic compound that is actually absorbed by the plant. It’s organic, it’s non-toxic, and it grows with the plant. So once the plant absorbs that compound for 24 hours, the plant can grow. The impressive about that is that we can apply it to local species, so we have a bioluminescence palm tree, for example, and those are things we are already doing in Saudi.”

“We are harnessing the power of living organisms to produce energy”

LIVING SIGNALS: HARNESSING THE POWER OF NATURAL ANTENNAS

Bioo has developed a technology that seems straight out of the 25th century, too! Envision a scenario where you can walk through a forest and engage in activations and automations directly with the plants. “People will touch a plant and store messages, create art, and interact with nature itself,” Pablo explains. “We even produced a mixing board made of plants for a piano!

“The interesting part of this is that we do it using a technology that uses plants as natural antennas - plants can naturally perceive changes in frequencies and you can read those frequencies. A plant can tell you if it needs water, if it has a disease, or if it needs sunlight. What we do is specifically detect the human frequency, and it’s pretty cool because if you touch it with something that’s not human, let’s say you touch it with a pen or a bird touches it, it won’t get activated.”

SAUDI ARABIA 2030, TRANSFORMING DREAMS INTO REALITY

Bioo has created a variety of technologies that involve using plants as biological switches or generating electricity from nature. Together, these applications increase the property value of buildings by up to 20%, increase visitor traffic by around 30%, and even improve the well-being, productivity (by around 15%), and efficiency of those who work in them.

The focus of Bioo’s technological advancements is to seamlessly integrate into biotech cities, urban areas that prioritize sustainability and utilize state-of-the-art technologies to establish a mutually beneficial connection with the natural environment.

Currently, Bioo has already implemented installations in Spain (in areas of Barcelona, Ibiza, Seville, and Madrid), France (Paris), and the UK (the Eden Project in Cornwall), among others. It is also involved in various other projects, such as the transformation of the Port of Barcelona into a huge green space, and others in San Jose (Silicon Valley), Boston, and Dubai.

“People will touch a plant and store messages, create art, and interact with nature itself”

As a result, the European Parliament named it as Europe’s most innovative company and included its founder, Pablo Vidarte, in the Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list. Bioo is mainly funded by the European Union and international technology funds, and is working steadily towards what they are sure is the next technological revolution: the biotechnological evolution.

Unsurprisingly, Saudi Arabia is one of its most exciting markets. “The Saudi market is really open to the biotech revolution. They’re not just looking to create a transformation, they also have imagination and forethought.

You can look at a lot of countries worldwide that are trying to do things well or better, but no one has a vision of doing a radical change, as is the case with Vision 2030.

We're starting projects in Saudi Arabia and, due to its great vision and investment in the world's most transformative projects, we founded "Bioo Arabia" as our headquarters in Riyadh with our Saudi partners and registered with the Ministry of Investment (MISA), agricultural solutions, landscape design with local assembly and manufacturing in addition to installation and maintenance services covering the entire spectrum in the region with key local partners from developers, consultants and contractors whom each is a leader in the field,” Pablo concludes.

Saudi Arabia, sharing Bioo’s visionary spirit, has become the ideal partner in driving the much-needed innovation our world seeks. United, their cooperation offers the prospect of a paradigm shift in our lifestyles and a secure, environmentallyconscious future for generations to come.

“The Saudi market is really open to the biotech revolution”

Spanning 1.44 square kilometers, the village is a key element of the region's development, providing a sustainable, community-centric environment.

BEC Arabia is leading the construction and fit out of 42 residential assets, 23 support assets, and developing the necessary infrastructure for the village. The AMAALA project is a critical piece of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which aims to foster economic growth and sustainability and BEC Arabia is excited to play a part in this.

OVERVIEW OF THE AMAALA EMPLOYEE VILLAGE

Located 13 kilometers north of the Triple Bay masterplan, the AMAALA Employee Village will feature over 12,000 residential units, retail buildings, a mosque, civic buildings, and sports facilities. Anchored around a coastal lagoon, it encourages walkability and cycling, creating a central hub where employees can live, work, and unwind.

The village supports AMAALA’s broader mission of sustainability and luxury, integrating seamlessly with the natural beauty of the Red Sea region.

BEC ARABIA’S SCOPE OF WORK

BEC Arabia’s role encompasses three major areas: the construction and fit-out of residential and support assets, along with the development of tertiary infrastructure that connects and supports these buildings.

CONSTRUCTION AND FIT-OUT OF 42 RESIDENTIAL ASSETS

BEC Arabia is tasked with delivering 42 residential buildings within the village. We have an extraordinary team that can handle any issues that may arise during the progress of a project.

SAUDI PROJECTS: Do you offer doors with specific features such as soundproofing, fire resistance, or impact resistance?

We believe at AlMoosa Doors that clients and projects are business partners and we work based on that

MOHANNAD ABU MOUSA: Yes, and this is a point that gives us a genuinely competitive advantage. We offer many types of doors and a variety of special products, such as soundproof, bulletproof, and blastproof, along with all requirements for hollow metal doors, hardware, and shutters. Also, at AlMoosa Doors we can design or import any special custom product, including horizontal shutters, blast shutters, and hanger doors, so we can meet all opening requirements of a project.

SAUDI PROJECTS: Can you provide information about the hardware and locking systems used in your doors?

MOHANNAD ABU MOUSA: In general, the AlMoosa hardware team handles things case by case to meet precise requirements and standards used for specific projects rather than just by American or European standards. We offer all entrance solutions related to doors, including accessories and applications for products that include emergency door hardware and access door

RED SEA PROJECTS, SHURA ISLAND
ALMOOSA DOORS - MOHANNAD ABU
The AlMoosa Doors factory is equipped with CNC and laser machines to ensure that all engineering and production done will comply with the required Projects standards along with automatic powder coating lines for complete set of production

hardware comply with all project’s standards requested like CE, ANSI, BHMA, etc.

SAUDI PROJECTS: What testing procedures do you employ to ensure that your doors meet industry standards for safety and performance?

MOHANNAD ABU MOUSA: We follow many procedures to comply with project requirements and with the doors themselves. For example, for hollow metal doors and hardware, we follow ANSI and European standards for fire testing and selection through UL or BS standards.

For security doors like bulletproof doors, we utilize different standards, complying with HCIS such as the NIJ level, while the blast proof doors have different standards again, related to category and pressure. In general, each group of products has unique standards, all of which are complied with by AlMoosa Doors.

SAUDI PROJECTS: What types of finishes and coatings do you apply to your doors for protection and aesthetics?

MOHANNAD ABU MOUSA: On our finishes

and coating lines in our factory, AlMoosa Doors offers all types of finishes starting from primary paints. We finish paint and powder coat using different types of RAL colors as per project requirements. In addition, we provide all types of decorative entrance doors with laser engraving and logo printing, which enable us to have the ability to offer our services for a wide range of projects and client requirements through our B2B or B2C sections.

SAUDI PROJECTS: Can you talk briefly about why potential customers should work with you instead of one of your competitors?

MOHANNAD ABU MOUSA: We believe at AlMoosa Doors that clients and projects are business partners and we work based on that, doing our very best to meet clients' requirements with competitive

prices and delivery time. Also, AlMoosa Doors has one department for customer services through 55 branches around KSA, which makes us the nearest supplier to all clients and projects in the Kingdom.

Furthermore, AlMoosa Doors has both a professional sales team and an installation team, allowing us to offer our services at any time requested by clients. This is one of the reasons why we have recently been awarded contracts on many megaprojects in different areas of KSA.

SAUDI PROJECTS: What are the current challenges in the marketplace and how is the company responding to supply chain disruptions and raw material availability in the current market environment?

MOHANNAD ABU MOUSA: As with other companies, we have a supply chain department that is handling these challenges along with projects Department, at AlMoosa Doors we believe that the first step to success is planning. We work hard to forecast the required materials we will need in advance. As you know, there is a lot of deviation in the market, like transportation lines for import and export, raw materials availability, and even the prices for the raw materials. So, to be in a good position with stock items, we plan for six

months ahead at least to keep our progress and delivery time on target for our clients.

SAUDI PROJECTS: What should a customer look out for when in the market for doors; how can they ensure that they get quality workmanship?

MOHANNAD ABU MOUSA: When the client is choosing a steel door supplier, they should ensure that the supplier already complies with all door requirements and can provide what they say they can. A client should also make sure that they are dealing with an experienced team who can work with them in a consultancy capacity and can propose solutions for specific issues. And of course, quality certificates, prices, and delivery time along with aftersales service cannot be neglected.

SAUDI PROJECTS: When working with architects and consultants, from what stage of a project do you like to be involved, and does this affect the end result?

MOHANNAD ABU MOUSA: Usually, we are involved with consultants at the technical approval stage. At the time of design, projects may have a lot of deviations and be subject to

changes at the time of execution, so it is better involved in the beginning in order to work with the consultants and advise them on the best proposals to meet the project requirements.

SAUDI PROJECTS: How does the company address sustainability and energy efficiency considerations in the development of new window and door products?

MOHANNAD ABU MOUSA: At AlMoosa Doors, we continuously strive to enhance our products to align with the demands of the modern era while prioritizing sustainability and energy efficiency for both doors and windows. This commitment is reflected in various initiatives, such as minimizing reliance on raw materials that do not meet LEED standards and adopting advanced machinery that reduces energy consumption, resulting in eco-friendly products. Moreover, our approach involves meticulous planning of door and window designs to ensure compliance with energy efficiency standards, incorporating features like vision panels and fully glazed doors to empower end-users to make environmentally conscious choices.”

One of our main advantages is on-time delivery & precise products meet client’s requirements

SAUDI PROJECTS: Can you provide details about the customization options available for special doors, such as size, design, materials, and specific properties such as fire protection?

MOHANNAD ABU MOUSA: AlMoosa Doors offers a wide range of products and sizes with different types of insulation, such as PU and Rockwool, fire-rated glass, and other items incorporated with door certificates like hardware. In addition, there is a limitation for fire-rated sizes and duration, which control the fabrication and product itself. Ultimately, AlMoosa Doors offers an extensive range of fire-rated doors as per UL / Intertek certificates, which are the standards for these types of doors.

SAUDI PROJECTS: Can you talk about the various access solutions available and their benefits?

MOHANNAD ABU MOUSA: AlMoosa doors offer many types of access solutions for projects like hospitals, revolving doors, and frameless glass doors, along with many doors’ being operated by either electrical motor or electrified hardware. These access solutions are designed as per client requirements, with our highly experienced team carrying out all required installation and maintenance.

We are the sole and executive distributer and installer of Manusa doors and operator in KSA.

SAUDI PROJECTS: Can you provide examples or case studies of projects where your special doors have been successfully implemented, showcasing their unique features and benefits?

MOHANNAD ABU MOUSA: One example is when we did a wind load test (the first company to do this type of test) for the NEOM Airport project, which succeeded in withstanding wind speeds up to 172 km/h. This type of special request keeps us as the leader of rolling shutter manufacturers in the Kingdom and reflects well on the many projects awarded to AlMoosa Doors.

Red Sea Global has announced its strategic partnership with Marriott International to launch The Ritz-Carlton AMAALA, a luxurious new resort that will redefine wellness and coastal living in Saudi Arabia. This marks the fourth collaboration between the two companies, following successful projects such as The St. Regis Red Sea Resort, Nujuma (a Ritz-Carlton Reserve), and The Red Sea EDITION.

Expected to open in 2025, The Ritz-Carlton AMAALA will be located at the northernmost tip of Triple Bay, offering 391 lavish guest rooms. Notably, 80 percent of the rooms will provide breathtaking water views of the Red Sea. The property will combine The Ritz-Carlton’s world-class service and signature design with the serene beauty of the region, creating an unmatched luxury experience.

“AMAALA continues to set a new standard in the world of wellness travel and luxury coastal lifestyle with the addition of its latest hotel brand, The Ritz-Carlton AMAALA, our largest property at the destination. We are thrilled to strengthen our relationship with Red Sea Global to bring an unrivaled level of luxury to the north of the Kingdom’s coast.”

AMAALA’s first phase, centered around Triple Bay, is scheduled to welcome its first guests in 2025. The initial development will include eight resorts with over 1,400 hotel rooms. RED SEA GLOBAL ACHIEVES SEVEN LEED CERTIFICATIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE PROPERTIES AT ITS DESTINATIONS

THIS FOLLOWS OPENING THE FIRST LEED PLATINUM HOTEL IN THE KINGDOM AND BECOMING THE ONLY DEVELOPER OUTSIDE THE US TO MAKE THE 2024 LEED POWER BUILDERS LIST

The Red Sea and AMAALA, has announced that it has been awarded six new LEED certifications for properties at The Red Sea. These Building Design + Construction (BD+C) certifications solidify its position as a leader in developing efficient, green buildings. Additionally, RSG secured the LEED for Cities and Communities pre-certification for the AMAALA masterplan.

“We were determined to redefine industry standards from the outset. To ensure we deliver on this ambition, our development and delivery teams work hand in hand with our sustainability team at every stage, scrutinizing design plans and collaborating during the build process, resulting in high quality, low-impact properties,” said John Pagano, Group CEO at Red Sea Global.

The seven latest certifications RSG achieved are:

Six Senses Southern Dunes, The Red Sea LEED v4 BD+C: Hospitality Platinum

The St. Regis Red Sea Resort LEED v4 BD+C: Hospitality Platinum

Nujuma, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve LEED v4 BD+C: Hospitality Platinum

Turtle Bay Management Office LEED v4 BD+C: New Construction Platinum

The Red Sea linear apartments LEED v4 BD+C: New Construction Gold

The Red Sea type Z apartments LEED v4 BD+C: New Construction Gold

AMAALA masterplan LEED v4.1 Cities and Communities: Plan and Design Communities (First Phase) Platinum

To achieve LEED certification, each building incorporates a range of sustainability features including passive design techniques, energy-efficient technologies, sustainable material selection, water conservation strategies, building management systems, and treated sewage effluent for irrigation.

Peter Templeton, CEO at the US Green Building Council (USGBC), said: “Achieving LEED certification is more than just implementing sustainable practices. It represents a commitment to making the world a better place and influencing others to do Better. Given the extraordinary importance of climate protection and the central role buildings play in that effort, Red Sea Global is creating a path forward through their LEED certification.”

All six properties newly certified at The Red Sea are connected to the destination’s renewable infrastructure and operate entirely on solar energy. Across Phase One of the development alone, this will avoid the equivalent of 575,000t of carbon dioxide being emitted into the atmosphere per year. This is equal to removing more than 133,000 cars from the road for one year, or powering 75,000 homes[i]. AMAALA will be powered the same way and will avoid 350,000tCO2eq per year across Phase One of its development.

Further, Red Sea International Airport (RSI) is the only airport across the Gulf Cooperation Council countries powered by sunlight 24 hours a day.

When it opened last year, Six Senses Southern Dunes, The Red Sea, became the first hotel in Saudi Arabia to achieve LEED Platinum status. In July 2024, the US Green Building Council included Red Sea Global in its 2024 LEED Power Builders, a recognition awarded to developers and builders that have exhibited an outstanding commitment to LEED and residential green building. RSG is the only developer outside the US to have made that list.

LEED v4.1 Building Design + Construction is a global benchmark in energy and environmental design. Achieving the certification is the foundation for other accreditations, such as LEED Zero, a complement to LEED that verifies the achievement of net zero goals in buildings during operation and maintenance.

The Red Sea welcomed its first guests last year, with three of its hotels now open. Shebara and Desert Rock will welcome first guests later this year, while Shura Island is on track to welcome guests in 2025. RSI, which is situated within three hours’ flying time of 250 million people and eight hours’ flying time for 8% of the world’s population, has been receiving a regular schedule of domestic flights since September 2023. International flights began in April 2024, with a twice-weekly route between The Red Sea and Dubai International.

A second destination, Thuwal Private Retreat, located further south will open in the coming weeks. AMAALA remains on track to welcome first guests in 2025, when the first eight resorts complete as part of Triple Bay phase one, along with Corallium Marine Life Institute and the iconic Yacht Club.

EMPOWERING SAUDI TALENT FOR THE FUTURE

RED SEA GLOBAL’S GRADUATE PROGRAM SHAPES TOURISM WORKFORCE IN SAUDI ARABIA. SAUDI PROJECTS SPOKE WITH FADI ALASSERI, SENIOR DIRECTOR - EDUCATION AT RED SEA GLOBAL, ABOUT THE COMPANY’S GROUNDBREAKING COLLABORATION WITH ALBUNYAN ACADEMY AND AL MATARAT

The program has produced over 400 graduates, all working within the assets of Red Sea Global’s projects, aligning with Vision 2030’s goals for a skilled workforce in the tourism and hospitality sectors.

Saudi Projects: Red Sea Global's partnership with Albunyan Academy and Al Matarat has resulted in over 400 graduates. How has this program contributed to Red Sea Global's vision of creating a world-class destination?

Fadi Alasseri: Red Sea Global was founded to help diversify the Saudi economy and provide job and training opportunities for Saudi youths in promising industries such as tourism and hospitality. Red Sea Global partnerships with Bunyan Academy, SACA, and EWA have been instrumental in advancing our vision of creating a world-class destination.

With over 400 graduates from various specialized tracks such as luxury hospitality, culinary arts, airport services, and renewal energy, the Red Sea Global Vocational training program ensures we build a workforce that meets the project's unique demands. These graduates bring valuable skills in priority fields, ranging from luxury hospitality to technical expertise in airport services, hospitality, engineering, and renewable energy, all of which are critical to maintaining the high standards Red Sea Global is committed to. The graduates contribute directly to shaping the visitor experience, ensuring that our standards are maintained and our commitment to sustainability is achieved within all operational aspects.

Over 400 graduates have successfully completed one year as employees at our destinations with excellent feedback from all employers and guests. They are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and cultural understanding necessary to contribute to the growth of our destination, aligning their personal development with the goals of Red Sea Global and the 2030 vision.

Over 400 graduates now work within Red Sea Global’s assets
 FADI ALASSERI - SENIOR DIRECTOR, EDUCATION

Saudi Projects: Can you tell us more about the program's structure and what makes it unique in preparing graduates for the challenges of a project as significant as Red Sea Global?

Fadi Alasseri: Our vocational programs are structured to blend theoretical knowledge with practical, hands-on experience based on the very well-studied labour market requirements within our destinations. One of the program's key strengths is its tailored tracks in new fields of study, including airport services, tourism security, health and wellness tourism, luxury hospitality, and renewable energy. These tracks are tailored to the specific needs of Red Sea Global, ensuring that participants are prepared for the distinct challenges of a project of this scale.

Moreover, the program integrates local culture with global best practices. Practical learning is emphasized through internships and realworld experiences, ensuring that graduates can seamlessly transition from the classroom to roles within the project.

Saudi Projects: How do you see the contributions of these graduates impacting the long-term development and sustainability of the assets within the Red Sea project?

Fadi Alasseri: These graduates are essential to the long-term development and sustainability of Red Sea Global's assets. They are equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to drive innovation in sustainable tourism practices, ensuring that our destination remains a global leader in this field. Their contributions will go beyond day-to-day operations, helping preserve and enhance our natural assets' integrity for years to come.

Moreover, with over 30% of our program participants coming from local communities near the project site, we are building a workforce that serves the Red Sea Project's needs and strengthens the region. This local involvement will help sustain the project's success as knowledge is passed down through generations of Saudi citizens, further embedding sustainability into the core of our operations.

Saudi Projects: What specific skills and knowledge do you believe were most critical for these graduates to acquire to meet the high standards expected at Red Sea Global?

Fadi Alasseri: To meet the high standards at Red Sea Global, graduates must acquire a blend of technical skills and soft skills that align with the needs of a world-class destination. English proficiency is critical, as it enables graduates to communicate effectively. In addition, cross-cultural understanding plays a key role, allowing them to engage with diverse guests and colleagues from around the world.

Beyond language and cultural awareness, the program also focused on developing behaviors and attitudes that are essential in luxury hospitality and service environments. Professionalism, adaptability, and attention to detail were emphasized, as these traits are vital in maintaining the exceptional guest experiences we strive for. These graduates are equipped not only with technical knowledge but also the interpersonal skills needed to excel in a highly demanding, world-class setting.

Cross-cultural understanding and language skills are key to our workforce

Saudi Projects: How does this program align with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, particularly in terms of workforce development in the tourism and hospitality sectors?

Fadi Alasseri: Our program fully aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 on multiple levels, supporting the overarching objectives of increasing employment, growing and diversifying the economy. By preparing a highly skilled workforce for the tourism and hospitality sectors, we are directly contributing to these national goals.

At the branch level, the program is instrumental in developing human capital to meet labor market needs and reinforces the Public Investment Fund's role as a growth engine. We are creating an empowering environment for Saudis by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and experience to thrive in a competitive, global market.

At the strategic level, our partnership with our training providers helps expand vocational training, which is crucial in addressing labor market demands. The program builds a lifelong learning journey for our participants, focusing on improving access to education, especially for those from remote areas. By ensuring that our graduates' educational outcomes are directly aligned with the labor market needs, we are supporting both the national agenda and the growth of the tourism and hospitality sectors in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Projects: What challenges did Red Sea Global face in implementing this program, and how did you overcome them?

Fadi Alasseri: One of the key challenges we faced was addressing the varying levels of English proficiency and cultural barriers among participants. Since the training required proficiency in English, this posed an obstacle

for some local talent. To overcome this, we implemented a language training program and cultural orientation sessions to ensure all participants could fully engage with the content.

Saudi Projects: How important are international partnerships, such as the one with Albunyan Academy, in shaping the future of Saudi Arabia's workforce, and are there plans for similar collaborations in the future?

Fadi Alasseri: International partnerships are crucial for shaping the future of Saudi Arabia's workforce. Collaborations with organizations like EHL and Hong Kong Polytechnic University (by which our hospitality programs are accredited) provide us access to global expertise and best practices, essential in building a workforce that can meet international standards in tourism and hospitality.

These partnerships also facilitate knowledge transfer, allowing Saudi talent to gain insights from global leaders while incorporating local cultural values and objectives.

Saudi Projects: Looking ahead, how do you plan to support these graduates in their professional growth as they continue to contribute to Red Sea Global's projects?

Fadi Alasseri: Our commitment to supporting our graduates continues after their training. We have ongoing professional development programs (new beginnings) in place that allow them to continue growing within Red Sea Global. This includes mentorship opportunities, advanced training, and clear career progression pathways within the organization.

We also maintain close relationships with our graduates to ensure their continued alignment with the evolving needs of the Red Sea Project.

Local involvement strengthens the sustainability of the Red Sea Project

A CREATIVE, HANDS-ON DESIGNER, EQUALLY COMFORTABLE AND INSPIRED ON A CONSTRUCTION SITE AS IN HER DESIGN OFFICE, SHANNON’S ARCHITECTURAL TRAINING HAS INSTILLED A COMMITMENT TO THE ENTIRE PROCESS OF DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION AND A DEEP RESPECT FOR ALL TRADES

Founder and CEO of WILD - Women in Leadership Deliver, keynote speaker, leadership coach and gender equality specialist.

WILD is the first and only women's network to launch in KSA and offers a suite of solutions for females to rise as leaders in the pursuit of gender equality. This includes leadership training programs, leadership coaching and memberships as well as impactful events across the region.

“I feel privileged to be immersed in the female leadership landscape in KSA. I am impressed by the level of intelligence, ambition and talent of the women I have had the pleasure of engaging with. This is the beginning for WILD KSA. I am proud to be at the helm, providing a platform for women’s voices, whilst offering unique and valuable learning experiences. Our recent MoU with the United Nations Global Compact, KSA, will not only provide world class leadership solutions for women in the region, we will be utilizing Saudi talent in alignment with the vision requirements and to be relevant to local needs.”

Saudi Projects and WILD have partnered to bring you a series of interviews: A Talk on the WILD Side, with inspiring women from across the KSA region.

Emma Burdett: You come from a corporate background. Tell us about your industry journey?

Shannon Dunn: I worked in traditional architectural firms until I started working on ways of integrating preventive health strategies into buildings and designing spaces I want to occupy, not from an aesthetic perspective, but from a health perspective. During this transition, I was introduced to Paul Scialla and so began my path towards where I am today. Paul is the CEO and founder of Delos and IWBI (WELL Building Standard) and he has given me the opportunity to bring the entire Delos ecosystem to Saudi Arabia. While I am in a corporate role with Delos, I’m fortunate to have the freedom to be creative with our entry into this market, and to be surrounded by like-minded Saudi leaders who support women’s empowerment and my privileged role here in the Kingdom.

Emma Burdett: What inspired your drive to pursue a career in a male-dominated industry?

Shannon Dunn: I did not think of architecture as a male-dominated industry when I was growing up and in school. I started college as a pre-med student and in both career paths, I was in an academic environment where professors and students alike had a 50-50 balance between men and women. Only when I started working did I realize the entire industry of architecture, engineering, and construction is male-dominated, and unfortunately not much has changed in the last 25 years, even in the US.

Emma Burdett: What has been your biggest career achievement to date?

Shannon Dunn: My biggest career achievement to date is currently unfolding here in Saudi Arabia, and I owe much of this to the current local work environment, thought and visionary leadership, and real advancements for women here. I have never felt more confident about being able to make a real impact both for my personal and professional development and also for critical UN Sustainable

Development Goals related to good health and wellbeing and gender equality.

Emma Burdett: What changes have you seen for women in KSA over the last four to five years?

Shannon Dunn: I have had the privilege of knowing many people living and working in Saudi Arabia for a long time, including a very dear friend whose mother was a practicing physician in the Kingdom over 40 years ago. I started coming to the region in 2008 and to Riyadh in 2019 and even at that time, when visiting local offices, I met many women working full time. My observations as an American differ greatly from the typical perception of women’s roles and the main change I’m thrilled to see is that the world is now learning about the strengths and achievements of Saudi women despite many misconceptions.

Emma Burdett: What notable changes have you seen in the workplace for women?

Shannon Dunn: My understanding is that Saudi women have been highly educated and prepared for the workplace for a long time. The major changes seem to lie in the realm of relatively recent access to career opportunities, where women can apply their education and experience without limitations by gender-dominated roles.

Emma Burdett: The cost of childcare still seems to be a female burden?

Shannon Dunn: Many of my friends think of their salaries in terms of an amount that covers the cost of being able to work, meaning the cost of replacing their time away from home and children. These costs include traditional childcare as well as school, school activities, sports, summer camps, etc. A flexible work schedule can help, but in my opinion, a more sustainable solution related to supporting these costs is critical for real transformation.

Emma Burdett: How do you suggest companies in KSA attract and retain the best female talent?

Shannon Dunn: I suggest companies in KSA stay true to a merit-based system for attracting and retaining the best female talent. Friends in hiring and teaching roles constantly report that professional women here, who are highly prepared from an

educational perspective, typically outperform their male counterparts. Of course, companies should provide recognition and equal compensation.

Emma Burdett: Have you seen any benefits of crossfunctional teams working together, such as men and women from different races and ethnicities? If so, do you have an example?

Shannon Dunn: I’m a huge fan of cross-functional and cross-sector teams working together. Actual experience and an applied approach based on work ethic, common goals, and mutual respect seem to trump any notion of racial and ethnic expectations.

Emma Burdett: KSA has a high percentage of youth with 65% of the population being under 35. Do you see a different mentality with this generation?

Shannon Dunn: I see an extremely motivated talent pool of youth in KSA who are taking collective pride in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and the tremendous opportunities for career development. A growth mindset is alive and well here. I worry about the trends in the US in terms of youth:

 lacking strong work ethic

 choosing to be isolated rather than wanting to work in an office

 having a sense of entitlement that is not aligned with experience and achievements

 wanting to work as if they are pursuing an individual sport rather than a team sport

 lacking respect for older generations, and not understanding the need to learn from people with experience over time and long career development

I see an extremely motivated talent pool of youth in KSA

Emma Burdett: What is your personal intention and motivation?

Shannon Dunn: To continue driving the healthy building movement. To make a global impact on the fundamental shift in the understanding of buildings as an integral part of healthcare and longevity. Like people, when buildings are healthy, they can support life, improve mental and physical wellbeing, improve productivity and performance, and contribute to extending health span—what we call true human sustainability.

Emma Burdett: What has been the biggest challenge for you and how have you overcome this?

Shannon Dunn: Learning how to live after the tremendous personal losses of a brother and my mother when they were both far too young.

Emma Burdett: What advice would you give to a younger Saudi female starting out on their career?

Shannon Dunn: Continue being authentic and proud of your culture; continue sharing the female Saudi story with grace and forward-thinking; continue keeping your head down, focused on hard work; continue advancing in your profession without letting a negative, complaining attitude take over. People who complain tend to be powerless and if there’s one lesson I’ve learned during my last year working in the Kingdom, it is that Saudi women hold a lot of power, especially now.

Emma Burdett: How important do you feel the WILD network is for women in the region and why?

Shannon Dunn: Everyone needs reminders, and the WILD platform supports women who are eager to support one another.

Emma Burdett: What single piece of advice would you give to all WILD Women?

Shannon Dunn: Be kind and supportive of other women.

Conversations that Matter, Reach Out and Connect

A Talk on the WILD Side has been created in partnership with Saudi Projects to help amplify women’s voices, providing meaningful insight and candid conversation with diverse women from across the Kingdom. It provides a platform for women to have a voice, deep diving into all things pertaining to leadership, presenting untamed ideas and inspiration, and paving the way for a sustainable future for women across the region.

Revolutionizing Bathroom Hygiene with QuantumFlush Technology

Discover the future of toilet flushing— powerful, splash-free, and ultra-quiet for modern homes

VitrA’s QuantumFlush brings innovation to bathroom hygiene with its groundbreaking flushing technology. Utilizing laminar flow, it optimizes water usage, delivering a highly efficient, 120% more powerful clean than standard toilets. The QuantumFlush system ensures water flows smoothly, minimizing turbulence, splashing, and noise, all while promoting superior hygiene.

Superior Cleaning Power

QuantumFlush harnesses the energy of water with unmatched efficiency. Traditional toilets rely on turbulent flow, which can cause splashing and result in the spread of bacteria through bioaerosols. QuantumFlush is engineered to minimise turbulence using the laminar flow principle, providing a more hygienic experience. Water flows evenly across the bowl’s surface, ensuring that the toilet is thoroughly cleaned with every flush.

In fact, QuantumFlush is 120% more efficient in its cleaning performance than standard rimless toilets. This heightened performance is possible with the same amount of water, making it both ecofriendly and cost-effective. This makes the QuantumFlush not just a functional addition, but a smart investment for any household or commercial space.

Quiet, powerful flushing with 120% more efficiency

Eliminate splashes, promote hygiene with laminar flow technology

Silent Yet Powerful

One of the key benefits of QuantumFlush is its quiet operation. Flushing noise is often a problem in many homes, especially at night. Certified by Quiet Mark, QuantumFlush generates 8.45 dBA less sound than traditional toilets— approximately seven times quieter. By reducing the chaotic water collisions common in other systems, QuantumFlush provides a tranquil bathroom environment without sacrificing performance.

Splash-Free and Hygienic

In typical flushing systems, splashing is not just a nuisance, but a hygiene risk. Splashing spreads bioaerosols, creating an unhealthy environment. QuantumFlush’s laminar flow technology eliminates this issue by ensuring smooth water flow, preventing messy splashes and keeping your bathroom cleaner and safer.

This innovation dramatically improves the hygiene standards of any bathroom, making it an ideal solution for households, public spaces, and commercial facilities where hygiene is paramount.

Customizable Seat Options

QuantumFlush offers three seat designs

Certified by Quiet Mark—7 times quieter than standard toilets

tailored to fit any bathroom aesthetic. These options include features such as soft-close seats, quick-release functionality, and touchless control. Whether you prefer a sleek, slim-wrap design or touchfree technology, QuantumFlush has the ideal solution to suit your needs.

Sustainability at its Core VitrA’s commitment to environmental responsibility shines through in the

QuantumFlush system. Designed to make the most of the water used, QuantumFlush ensures that every drop counts. Even with its enhanced cleaning capability, the system still uses only 3-6 litres of water per flush, making it an eco-friendly option for environmentally conscious users. By reducing the amount of water needed for a thorough clean, QuantumFlush not only saves resources but also reduces your water bill.

Engineered for Excellence

Behind QuantumFlush’s superior performance is VitrA’s renowned Innovation Centre. With seven state-of-the-art factories and a strong emphasis on research and development, VitrA continuously pushes the boundaries of bathroom technology. The development of QuantumFlush is the result of rigorous engineering, extensive testing, and a commitment to providing customers with cutting-edge solutions that make a real difference in their daily lives.
