Semantic definitions

January 2013

Emphasis has to be put on the mission: this is why non-profits start and this is their goal. In short, missions are the beginning and end of a non-profit.

TAGLINE Mission Control is here to make accounting easy for non-profits, ultimately making their goals real—the tagline should express this:

Through the mark and typography we have to make Mission more prominent and soften Control, still keeping it strong.

Circles, graphs, arrows

The mark should be simple, clean and friendly.

Therefore, I chose to explore simple shapes first.

The mark has to be friendly, therefore I first went to circles (they have no sharp corners).

A graph inside would give the sense of financials.

Squares were my are stable because of their balance equal sides)

The play on circle/planets and graphs captures some of Mission Control

Arrows were my second thought: I decided to explore these more in depth.

It needs to display well at all sizes, and be recognizable throughout.

Arrows are also very simple shapes that could work at very small sizes.

Transparencies are used now, giving a sense of 3D Using different colors would add meaning and diversity

GROWTH Arrows appear in graphs. Pointing towards the top right, they signify growth.

NETWORK More than one arrow signifies the many goals that exist in the non-profit world. There is unity in wanting to grow and achieve their diverse goals

Playing with size and density would also signify diversity among goals

DIRECTION Like arrows in a compass the point towards a ‘true’ direction

Keeping the circle and internalizing the arrows would keep all the meanings of GROWTH, DIRECTION, and NETWORK while adding the friendliness of a round shape.
