Welcome Welcome to the 2021 Fall Online Sale. It has been a good year at JCL. We have been fortunate to be both the premier breeder and premier exhibitor for Red Angus at both the 2020 American Royal Livestock Show and the 2021 Cattleman’s Congress in Oklahoma City. Quality is important to us. Our goal is never to the be the biggest; quality is our first goal. We emphasize on structure in feet and udders, overall performance and disposition. Meanwhile, more than 12 of the 19 heifers sold in the last years have gone to young, junior exhibitors from 8 states. Eight showed in the NJRAE (National Junior Show) and JCL Bred heifers won 4 classes and 2 Division Champions that day. We’ve only been breeding Red Angus for 4 years – but we are proud of the breed, and the folks we have the honor to work with – young and old. Snowflake is an all-around good girl … easy to work with, beautiful hair (even in the 100 degree heat of August). Where is Fire N Ice? The most mentioned cow at JCL. JCL Fire N Ice was one of the very first Red Angus born at our place. She’s only 3, but already managed to work her way into the spotlight. JST RUBY’S ROBIN Royce’s Sensational was purchased for $54,000 in the 2017 Denver Mile High Sale. Sensational comes from the McPhee Red Angus herd of Lodi, California. The McPhee family are long-time Red Angus breeders known for cattle that consistently reach the top 25% (or higher) in breed EPDs. Sensational had been a winning show heifer for Royce McPhee. In short, she embodied structure + performance. She was known as the EPD Queen at JCL. Sensational has passed on, but 2 daughters remain in our herd. Another (JCL Peggy Sue) is offered as a bred cow. Here’s an opportunity … to buy in on the late but great Royce’s Sensational, this opportunity will not come around very often!

Miss Ponderosa came to join our herd less than a year ago, and impressed she is a big, deep-sided, sound cow. She is from the herd of Ressler Land and Cattle Company in North Dakota. She came to us with a heifer calf at side that we named JCL Raspberry – she went on to sell to Radford Lewis of Jacksboro, Texas for $7500. We love Miss Ponderosa’s structure, look and performance. She’s mated to Duff Red Wood, a bull owned by Pure Beef Genetics. We hear good reports, and see great things from this young sire’s early calf crops.
