Annually we feed over 2000 head of feeder cattle, while maintaining an inventory of around 1000 head at all times. Included in this inventory is our cow herd of around 500 head that we calve out annually. We calve both Spring and Fall in order to provide a constant flow of inventory. We primarily have an Angus and Red Angus based cow herd but utilize Hereford and Simmental bulls to maximize heterosis. We market our breeding cattle via special auctions and private treaty while we mainly market our feeder cattle on LiveAg!

Bowling Ranch

Nancy Bowling, Owner

Tim Stidham, Manager (405) 742-4553

9201 E Stateline Road

Newkirk, OK 74647

Bowling Ranch is located at the foot of the Flint Hills and the top of the Osage Hills, which is on the Oklahoma-Kansas state line in far NE Kay County, Oklahoma. However, the ranch originated in Grant County, Oklahoma, in the Pond Creek-Jefferson areas in the early 1900’s. In that time period, the Hereford breed was still king of all the cattle breeds!

Today, Bowling Ranch consists of both Hereford and Red Angus cattle. The registered herds total approximately 600 head of Herefords and Red Angus, while the commercial herd consists of approximately 750 head of Hereford/Red Angus crosses, producing highquality red-baldies. The cattle run on a wide expanse of native grass. Bowling Ranch has an extensive AI and ET program which incorporates industry leading genetics.

Tim Stidham manages the registered side of the program with assistance from his wife, LaMecia, who manages the registered records. Kris Young supervises the commercial operation, while owner, Nancy Bowling provides oversite of the operation.

Many cattlemen have learned the value and benefits of heterosis, thus combining the genetics of both Hereford and Red Angus.  Bowling Ranch was honored in July 2024 by the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association, for donating the top steer to the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Foundation. The Bowling red baldy steer placed in 3 categories: this steer was #1 for daily gain at 5.78 lbs, #2 winner for carcass index, and overall Reserve Champion out of approximately 60 steers.
