Fellow Breeders, RED ANGUS ENTHUSIASTS AND FRIENDS. Welcome, Thanks you for taking the time to look at our offering in the Red Legends & Black Diamonds. We have put our best efforts into providing you with an exciting offering of breed leading genetics that represent our best cow families and our cutting edge herd sires. As this catalog came together, I realized how our breeding and mating decisions are really starting to produce the type and kind of cattle that get us very excited. Our young herd sires, Cowboy Cut and Rock Star, have hit every benchmark on the path to becoming proven, breed changing bulls that will leave their mark in our herd, and others, for years to come. Our young donor cows are out producing their dams, solidifying their status as matrons of future generations of performance oriented, phenotypically pleasing, revenue generating cattle. We are proud and pleased to share these genetics with you and look forward to helping in any way we can to see that you acquire the best genetics for your program. You will notice that we are retaining an embryo interest in several females. We do not hold any females off the sale, all of our top cattle are offered giving you an opportunity to own our very best. Therefore, we must retain genetics on certain females that will enable us to propagate cow families into the future. We look forward to working with the new owners of these elite females. I assure you, it will be an exciting adventure for both of us as we work together to produce the next generation of exciting genetics. We are happy to welcome a handful of guest consignors to our sale this year. These are customers of ours who are building exciting programs of their own. We are thrilled that they are using some of our genetics to do it. The cattle they are bringing represent the best they have to offer and they stand behind them the same as we do. Juniors, don’t over look the opportunity to purchase heifers that qualify for the Commercial Heifer Show at the North American Junior Red Angus Event. I also want to remind you the females in this sale are eligible for the NAJRAE Futurity show as well as the Solution Genetics Scholarship Program. Which by the way, got tapped into this year by several juniors. Way to go kids, we are proud of your accomplishments. So, with all that said, the bottom line is finding the right cattle for you. Study the catalog, review the video on the Solution Genetics web site, www.solutiongenetics.com, and give us a call with your questions. One thing everyone knows about us, we tell it like it is and we will give you our honest assessment of the offering. If you can’t make it to the sale join us on LiveAuctions.TV or bid on the phone, we will help you any way we can. Best of all make the trip to Marietta, OK join us for a great lunch and view the offering. We look forward to seeing old friends, making new ones and working together in the greatest industry in agriculture, the beef cattle business. See you on the 23rd, Dan, Cheryl & Cassie

Peek A Boo Family
The
1 The Peek-A-Boo cow is our go to heifer maker. No matter what sire we use we can always expect a “wow factor” heifer calf. Here are three heifers that not only have the “look” but also, combine that with the performance of their sire. Lot 1 has the advantage in length of spine and a longer front third. Lot 2 is a later maturing female that will have the advantage as a bred. She has a cow look that will be hard to ignore in the show ring. Lot 3 is my sleeper pick

for this year’s sale. A recip cow disadvantage has left her a step behind her sisters, but, she has the parts and pieces to be just as good or better with time and feed. Last year we sold a Cowboy Cut X Peek A Boo to partners Addie VanVliet and Pam Hanson, they promoted her to be Res Champion at the Iowa State Fair Jr. Show and also Reserve at the South Dakota State Fair. More importantly she will go on to be an awesome brood cow that will produce many more champions. These three Rock Star heifers have the same bright future and you can’t pick the wrong one, they are all good. Retaining 50% Interest for rights to future flushes. DJ

The
Consensus Family Here is a female that represents our goal of combining phenotype with genotype very well. She is extremely broody in her appearance with an abundance of rib shape, top, and muscle while maintaining a feminine profile. Combine that with a terrific EPD profile that puts her in the top 15% for WW, 15% for YW, 10% for marbling and 10% for $B and you have a serious donor prospect. Her pedigree is impeccable, her disposition outstanding and I know you will drive the wheels off your truck to find another one as complete and balanced in every respect. Don’t let her go home on someone else’s trailer! Retaining 50% Interest for rights to future flushes. DJ

Another good Consensus female that is long spined, big middle and very feminine. This heifer will be very competitive in the show ring and go on to be a front pasture cow. She ties her neck into her shoulder and expands into a tremendous fore rib. She is good hipped, big topped and will be at the front end of that April class at every show. DJ

The next three lots are full sib Cowboy Cut daughters! Lot 7 certainly has the look to be extremely competitive in many shows. She is very feminine through her front third, soft made through the center of her body and moves like a cat. She is up headed and likes to strut her stuff! DJ

Don’t worry, she does have a tail, it was a little windy on picture day! Here is the brood cow of the bunch. She is stout from end to end and will become a belly dragging cow that you can see a lot of different bulls on and never be disappointed. What a cool mating! The Blockana 692-8403U is a maternal sister to Blockana 807, the first ever Triple Crown Winner in the Red Angus. The sire is hitting home runs with the progeny’s performance and phenotype. Lot 12 has the feminine front third that I love to see in a female and she combines that with a massive amount of volume and muscle shape from her shoulder back. On paper she is in the top 3% for WW, top 2% for YW, top 7% for TM and top 1% for CW. This heifer will put the pretty in her calves without losing performance. CJ

This heifer will fit the bill for a lot of folks looking for a gentle, moderate framed, easy fleshing female that will work in the ring and most importantly in the pasture. The dam to this female has been such a tremendous producer we decided to put her in our donor program this year. The Citation females are extremely maternal and fertile! Lot 14 offers a lot of the positive attributes of her dam. Long clean front, deep from her fore rib to her flank and stands on a solid foundation. These two females are proof that we don’t breed show cattle, we show breeding cattle. Both their dams sold in our 2010 female sale for half interest. These are the two natural calves they had as first calf heifers. After they calved they entered our donor pen and averaged 10 embryos on two flushes. Look for more of their offspring in next years sale. Lots 15 & 16 are 3/4 sisters that appeal to you on paper but, these two females have a lot going for them phenotypically too! Lot 15 has a sound foot and solid set of legs that allow her to get out and travel with ease. She carries a lot of dimension from her fore rib back and will catch your eye with her long feminine front third. Take a look at her on paper, she has a negative

This may be your last chance to get a direct daughter out of the Rachel cow and a maternal sister to Precision, a past National Champion Female. A nice female that offers a lot of good pieces in a well balanced package. This Bismarck female profiles really well. She is a moderate framed female that is good in her lines and best of all she stands on a solid foundation. Her dam has consistently produced solid performing progeny that have gone on to be great momma cows and high performing herd bulls. If you are looking for a female that will bring you everything in a well balanced package, this is the heifer for you. CJ

Lot 25 is out of a first calf heifer. Her mom sure did a great job on the first one! With Final Answer on her bottom side and a daughter of Bismarck this female is destined for the show ring. This bigger framed heifer has a solid foot, sound hind leg structure, length of body, and front end that tell me she is going to be a great cow. Long, smooth, feminine with an extreme amount of brood cow potential. CJ Red Legends 16

Take a good look at this female because I think you will be seeing more of her as the year progresses. Lot 26 is another female that has always had that special look to her. Solid foot, big bone, big top and hip, and loaded with rib shape and capacity. Her dam was the 2009 Champion Female at the Fort Worth Stock Show and I think this daughter has the potential to compete like her mom. CJ

Lot 27 is a maternal sister to Lot 26. This heifer came from a satellite herd and was not getting all the groceries she was needing but since she has been at our place she has put the weight on and will be caught up in no time. A more moderate framed heifer that is cleaner fronted than her sister and has the same amount of bone, body and muscle. CJ
2220 has the light red hair coat and feminine front end of her mom, and the body, hip and muscle of her sire. On paper she is in the top 3% for WW, top 5% for YW, top 15% for MARB and top 10% for REA. Take a close look at her at the sale and see the potential. CJ

This female is good in her design and has the right parts. She just needs a little more feed and she will be right with the rest of the cattle. Lot 29 came from a satellite herd and was not on a very good recip. If you are looking for a heifer that is a diamond in the rough, this would be her. Ultra feminine, long bodied and square hipped. She is a half sister to Tiara, a donor cow that was just starting to make her mark in our herd before she unexpectedly passed away this spring. Tiara was a great female and I know Lot 29 has the same potential. CJ Red Legends 17

All three heifers stand on a big foot with plenty of bone and just explode with shape and volume as you analyze them from the ground up. Long clean front ends in all of them with big tops and stout hips. Lot 30 of the three heifers ties her neck into a smooth shoulder the best and is not as heavy muscled as the other two. Lot 32 is the power house of the three. She offers plenty of muscle out of her hip and into her lower quarter. Lot 32 probably offers the best of the two in a well balanced eye appealing package. However, you don’t have to take my word for it! Take a look at the video online and come to the sale to see for yourself! We are retaining 50% of Lot 31 for rights to future flushes. CJ
These three sisters will be the last of the Rambo R726 daughters to ever sell. R726 sold in 2009 and since then tragically passed away at Three I Farms. However, her passing has not effected the quality of her offspring. These three may be the best daughters to date yet! R726 was best known as the dam of the Triple Crown Winner, Ms Advancer of 4L R158. A female that dominated the show ring and turned the heads of even non Red Angus breeders. These daughters resemble some of their sister R158 with a little more muscle and shape.

Take a look at Destined 661’s picture in our herd reference issue, he is a bull that will get you excited about the Angus breed! Lot 33 has always been a performance oriented female. We are finally to the point in our Black Angus herd that we are able to see our matings start working. This is the third year we have sold Black Angus and this is the best offering to date. Lot 36 may be the sleeper of the bunch so be sure to look her over. She has the show heifer profile that every cattle person likes to look at and combine that with her top shape, hip and structure and you have a lethal combination. This is her dam’s second calf for us and we couldn’t be happier with how she is producing. CJ Red Legends 19
Tobie
The Family Consigned by Cowtracks
Here is another daughter out of our very popular Tobie cow. This comes in a little bit greener package than her sister, but fear not, because this one is just as cool as her sister. I really love the look that this one has from the side. She is a really pretty profiling female with an ultra feminine front one third. When you see her in person she will grab your attention in that regard. All of the females we are selling have really good dispositions, but if I were to pick a heifer for a young showman that is maybe showing their first calf, this is the one I would choose. The 13Z and 15Z heifers have both been shown multiple times, but this one was shown at our state fair by two different juniors, both under the age of 10. This female, like her CTRH TOBIE’S TAMIKA 15Z sister, also has one heck of a set of EPDs to go along 1503829 Calved: 04/14/2012 with her show ring look. We have sold Tobie calves to multiple states, from North Dakota to Mexico. I’m exMLK CRK CUB 722 Performance cited to see where these two exceptions daughters end

that really has the WOW factor. This calf has grabbed everyone’s attention this summer, and for good reason. I don’t even know where to begin in trying to describe this female because she is just really cool. She is the rare combination of power, mass, and performance combined with all the style, eye appeal, and femininity you could ever ask for. I personally have a really hard time letting this female go, but I really had to twist my dad’s arm to let me put her on the sale. This one was born to be a show heifer, and she has a great disposition. Juniors pay attention, if you want a female that will compete at any level. To go along with her one of a kind phenotype, this female’s EPDs are unbelievably good, you don’t find very many show heifers like this that have an equally good EPD profile. Retaining the right to 1 flush with a minimum of 6 freezable embryos, at our expense. SF

Cowtracks Ranch The Frederick Family Consignments This is a female whose name fits her perfectly, this one is a real sweetheart and a personal favorite of mine because of her disposition. Her mother is a direct daughter of Meado-West Persuasion cow that has had such a tremendous impact on the breed. When you see this female in person, you will be impressed with her overwhelming length and extension throughout. She is feminine and pretty about her front one third, she is really long-spined, and has a really long hip in her. This one should have a successful career in the show ring, but should also make an awesome cow, her mother is so easy keeping and stays fat on grass. Check out the exceptional EPDs on this female.

To support the new commercial heifer show at the NAJRAE, we are offering this 50% Red Angus female, this heifer is also eligible for dual registration as a Shorthorn Plus. This fancy little female is just a May baby and is still pretty green, but she will come into herself with more time on feed. This female had only had a halter on for 2 days when this picture was taken, and she broke as quickly as any that I have ever worked with. I have no doubt that with more time on the halter this one will turn into a kitten. She would be an ideal project for a younger showman. Not only should she be a nice junior project, but she should turn into a really nice cow. Her mother is 9 years old and is really low maintenance. SF

2012 SDSF Res Female The first U.S. born calf crop of Cowboy Cut made a huge splash on last fall’s sale and show circuit! Several daughters topped sales for breeders including: Solution Genetics at $20,000, $13,000 and $12,500, C-Bar in Kansas high selling heifer at $10,500, Lautenschlager at Bet on Red’s at $7,400 and several others. The Cowboy daughters tore up the tanbark as the Reserve Grand Champion Female at the Iowa State Fair, Louisville and Denver was a Cowboy Cut daughter owned by Gabe Gibson and Solution Genetics. The North Carolina State Fair Champion Female, owned by the Banfield Family and the South Carolina State Fair Champion Female, owned by the Campbell Family were both Cowboys. J6 of Nebraska won several divisions, as did Pam Hanson of South Dakota and the Van Vliet Family of Iowa with their Cowboy Cuts. Cowboy Cut also won the Jr. and Sr. Get of Sire at both Louisville and Denver. The 2012 National Grand Champion Female in the Junior Show at Denver was a Cowboy Cut owned by Gabe Gibson. All that in a first calf crop makes you wonder what is yet to come! Many noted Red Angus Breeders have said Cowboy Cut may be the next great female producer in the breed! The first daughters calved in Canada this spring and all reports are the udders are excellent and they are great mothers. His pedigree is stacked maternal, with some of the best females in Canada in his genes. We recommend Cowboy Cut for moderate, thick made females that need added length, structural correctness and maternal strength. The semen packages offered in this sale will be the only semen available in the U.S. for the fall 2012 breeding season. Meado-West Persuasion Dam to Lots 47 & 48
What an outstanding opportunity to get your hands on two sisters that are flush mates to the 2012 Reserve National Champion Female and the 2012 Supreme Champion Bull of all breeds at the South Dakota State Fair, sired by the up and coming herd sire that has been getting the attention of cattlemen from every breed. The Persuasion cow has made her mark in the Red Angus breed and will continue to do so for years to come. She not only is an outstanding female herself but she is also consistent in producing progeny that work in the pasture and in the show ring. I begged and pleaded with my dad to let us keep one of these beautiful females just for ourselves but he insisted that we needed to sell both of them. These two sisters are similar in their body type but they still have their differences. Lot

Take a close look at these two gorgeous females and think about all the different matings you can use on them to create the next great one. Both are A.I. bred to a couple of very exciting bulls. When you see this heifer in person you will want to grab the wallet and write a check on the spot! A flush mate to the 2012 South Dakota State Fair Res Champion Female that has quickly caught the attention of cattlemen from across the U.S. Lot 49 is very similar to her sister however, the difference is this female has a longer sharper front end in her and is longer hipped. Yvett stands on a wide foundation and has the stout hip and muscle shape that you will see in all our Peek-A-Boo females. She is also a very low maintenance female that explodes with volume through the center of her body. To top off the excitement this female is preg checked safe in calf to SLGN Flush Mate to Lot 49 X-files 006X the first part of February. That mating is very intriguing to me because you are crossing Peek-ABoo progeny with Persuasion progeny. Persuasion has been another great producer for our operation. She has produced bulls such as SLGN Wideload and SLGN Wide SLGN PEEKS YVETT 139Y Open, both of which reside at the Mann Ranch in KS. 1425015 Calved: 02/01/2011 Because we are so excited about the future of the female We are retaining 50% of Lot 49 for rights to fuPerformance LAZY MC STOUT 30S ture flushes. This year we have been very fortunate to have so many great bred females to offer. Here is another heifer that I begged my Dad to not put on the sale, as you can tell I clearly lost that battle. So many things make this female exciting to talk about. First, she is a Cowboy Cut daughter. Second, she is a daughter to the first ever female to win the Triple Crown as a calf. Finally third, She is in the top 10% for WW, top 12% for YW, top 8% for ME and top 8% for CW. Here is a female that is combining the show ring winnings with the brood cow pasture performance! Lot 50 is due to calve middle of April to SLGN Abi’s Cowboy 1137Y. We are retaining 50% of Lot 50 for rights to future flushes. CJ Calf EPD’s: BW 1.1 WW 66 YW 100 M 15 TM 48 Marb 0.24 Rea 0.24

The
Tamara Family Flush Mate to Tamara I am not sure what is cooler the bloodlines this heifer is out of or the fact that she is safe in calf to SLGN Yardmaster 125Y. First things first, Lot 51 combines the best of both worlds. Her dam is a power house female that consistently produces heavy muscled performance oriented calves. Her sire is a previous National Champion and he is producing females that are smooth made, feminine and functional in their stride. When you combine the two you get Performance this awesome brood cow female that has BW a very bright future ahead of her. To add 88 a cherry on the top you breed her to the WW $55,000 highly talked about Yardmaster. The Yardmaster syndicate decided to keep him off the market for a year and because of that the only way you will get progeny out of him for 2013 is to buy embryos of females bred to him. A more moderate framed Tamara daughter that still has the body and muscle that we like all like. Lot 52 is an outstanding female that is big boned, stout hipped, long spined and extends her front third ever so neatly out of her shoulders. To combine this in a nice moderate framed package is like getting the best of everything. This heifer has a lot of potential! The
Copprqueen Family The bred heifers this year are full of unique matings and exciting pregnancies, this is definitely one of them! The Copprqueen family is a name that has been around the Red Angus breed for many years. They are known for their structural correctness, maintenance efficiency and maternal traits. Lot 53 is a fine example of all those characteristics. I would anticipate this female to have a very profitable future ahead of her for her new owner, her value as a cow will only increase with Performance time. I really love this heifer and she really is not my normal “type” of female I fall for. This dark cherry red female has a beautiful front end on her and she is loaded with capacity and muscle from her shoulders back. Rock Star really shined through on this female. She has a lot of upper rib shape and carries that width out through her pins while standing on a very solid foundation. She is safe in calf to SLGN Abi’s Cowboy 1143Y and I would anticipate that calf to be heavy muscled and easy keeping like its dam. She is due to calve the beginning of April. There are not many places where you can find a maternal sister to Sakic AND a paternal sister to Timberlake. I always talk about heifers having the “wow factor” for the show ring but today I am talking about the “wow factor” for every day cow life. This female has it times ten! Big foot, big bone, lots of muscle, a ton of capacity, big top and long choke neck that makes you stop and stare! This is the type of female that can get anybody excited. She has the muscle and easy fleshing ability to produce the commercial cattleman’s dream herd bull. She has the femininity and look to make any cow producer fall in love. I could go on all day talking about this female but I think you get Performance my point, because we love this heifer so much we are retaining 50% inBW 70 terest and possession. Buyer is WW buying 50% interest with no pos469 session. Buyer will own 50% of first natural calf. Did I happen to mention that she is due January 17 to Cowboy Cut. I can only imagine how great that calf will be, if you don’t buy this heifer I bet you will be buying one of her calves in the next few years! CJ

Another great Rock Star female that is dark cherry red and really good looking. You can tell from her picture she has a ton of bone, body and muscle. Her dam is the late Flame of Memory we purchased for the Ubar dispersal in 2008. Flame’s calves have consistently been solid performers and low maintenance. Lot 74 may be the best female of hers yet. She was one of the best looking females there and has one of the prettiest udders we had ever seen on an old cow. Since then Goldi has passed but we were fortunate to get Performance a few embryos out of her before she BW left. The Timberlake bull lived a short 71 life as well but his daughters are still WW making a spot in the history books for 443 him. Every Timberlake calf we have had has not only been marketable but

Bela X Jackhammer bred heifer Lot 68
Every year we sell a last chance, once in a lifetime flush on one of out elite donors cows. This year provides progressive breeders the ability to obtain a flush right on one of the most outcross, cows in the U.S. Not only is she out cross she was the pick of our entire donor herd by thirty-five cattlemen from Argentina that toured our herd this past summer on the Genex tour. Selling a flush with a guarantee of six embryos and split above that. Buyer provides the semen of his choice of bulls and pays the flush cost. Bela has just weaned a whopper of a heifer calf, a black red carrier sired by our Angus herd bull, Destined 661. We have big plans for that heifer and you will definitely be hearing more about that female in the future! Bela is as wide as she is tall and as deep as you can make one. She is a chunk! A beautiful udder, moderate frame, easy fleshing and picture perfect profile. She will work on a wide variety of bulls and produce exciting outcross genetics. A never again opportunity that you wont want to miss! Mark Moxley’s purchase of the Peek-A-Boo flush in 2008 resulted in the 2011 Grand Champion Female at Louisville! Congratulations to the Mark Moxley Family! DJ

Slgn Young Gun109Y The first big calf crop of Rock Star calves have solidified this bull as a true beef machine! He stamps his calves with the same bold features that he possesses, muscle, middle and moderation. His offspring come in an easy fleshing, eye appealing package that turns the heads of many good cattlemen. Rock Star is the sire of the 2012 National Western Grand Champion Pen of Three Bulls. They were a big attraction in the Yards in Denver and were praised by the judge for their uniformity, muscle and rib shape. The Rock Star bull calves in the Cattlemen’s Bull Sale were a stout set of bulls that exceeded our expectations every step of the way. His out cross pedigree makes him a unique breeding piece for several breeders and his outstanding performance adds to the marketability of his offspring. The latest EPD report blew us away as his performance numbers went through the roof while his maintenance energy number put him in the top of the breed. His dam has a picture perfect udder and the Rock Star heifer calves were a big hit at the Red Legends sale last year as eight Rock Star females averaged $7,300. After seeing the progeny in Denver, Genex has leased Latin America and South America semen rights. We suggest using Rock Star on bigger framed females that need to add muscle, width and dimension. The semen packages offered in this sale will be the only semen available for the Spring 2012 breeding season. Supporting Our Juniors
What better way to help our juniors continue their dreams while planning for the future than to offer a scholarship program that will do just that. We have always tried to support our juniors and feel this program will help give back to those young people who work so hard. To be eligible for Scholarship Program, Juniors must complete all requirements as follows: The animals must be purchased from Solution Genetics at public auction or private treaty by the junior and registered in the junior’s name. The year of purchase and receipt of payment determines which year you will qualify under the graduated program. If you purchase an animal in 2012, that is year one. Animals purchased and paid for in subsequent calendar years qualify you for additional years. If any year is missed, the future purchase will be credited to the next year of purchase (i.e. if you purchase in 2009 and 2011, then 2011--- would be the second year of purchase. Only the highest qualifying level per animal will be awarded. (i.e., If your animal wins Grand Champion at the Louisville Jr. Show and Reserve Grand at your State Jr. Field Day, you will be paid on the highest level of winning only; $1000 in this example.) The year of purchase (one, two, three, four or five), not the year of the show, will determine which scholarship year will be honored. Eligible shows listed must have a minimum of 25 entries to qualify for awards program. To qualify for each scholarship, the student is required to submit the proper information of verification to Solution Genetics including proof of winning (on Approved Scholarship Form), 8 x 10 picture, and provide proof of enrollment. Scholarships will be paid to the junior upon proof of enrollment at an accredited college, university or vocational-technical school. Qualifiers must complete their education at the accredited college, university or vocational-technical school of their choice on or before their 30th birthday or the remaining portion of their Scholarships will be forfeited.
