Advisers assistance applying for economic disaster loans

E-MAIL: advertising@tradersdispatch.com

University of Wyoming Extension Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) advisers across the state can help agribusiness owners applying for Economic Injury Disaster Loans. SBDC state director Jill Kline said advisers are helping agribusiness owners prepare for the applications. Agricultural businesses include those engaged in the production of food and fiber, ranching, and raising of livestock, aquaculture and all other farming and agricultural-related industries, according to the SBA. The program can provide funds and an up to $10,000 advance to businesses experiencing temporary difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “It’s not a difficult application necessarily, but you want to prepare ahead of time, so you know what to have,” Kline said. “You want to have everything you need beforehand. It’s all online and once you hit submit, it disappears.” Local SBDC advisers can be found by going to https:// www.wyomingsbdc.org/contact and filling out the form or using the map. Additional information can be found on the U.S. Department of Treasury’s COVID-19 Relief website https://treasury.gov and at the Wyoming SBDC’s COVID-19 resource webpage www.wyomingsbdc.org/covid19/. For more information, contact SBDC regional director Bruce Morse at 307-754-2139.

2018 canola PLC payments for North Dakota

From Northern Canola Growers Association The North Dakota Farm Service Agency has tallied the final 2018 Canola Price Loss Coverage (PLC) Payments for the state of North Dakota. Total payments were $69 million for the 1.325 million base acres of canola in the state. Payments averaged $52 per acre based on a payment rate of $.0435 per pound. This rate is based off the difference between the Marketing Year Average Price for canola and the Reference Price. Due to the depressed commodity prices, payments to canola growers were the second largest in the short history of the PLC Program. Based on projected prices, 2019 PLC payments may likely be 25 percent larger, which will result in the largest payments to date for canola growers.
