Multi-state soil fertility conference
The 51st North Central Extension-Industry Soil Fertility Conference to be held in Des Moines, Iowa, on November 17-18 will be an industry-university effort that brings together soils researchers, soil fertility students, industry representatives, crop consultants, and others to share research information on agricultural production and, in particular, soil and nutrient management. This year’s conference chair is Dr. Bijesh Maharjan, Soil and Nutrient Management Specialist at the UNL Panhandle Research and Extension Center at Scottsbluff. The conference will feature presentations on fertilizer manufacture and outlook, biological nitrogen-fixing crop amendments, and emerging chloride issues in closed watersheds, and precision nutrient management. Maharjan said there will be oral and poster presentations by researchers from most of the land-grant universities in the North Central region. Graduate student poster sessions will feature research presentations from top graduate students from land grant universities in the North Central region. Those who are eligible can register for continuing education credits from the International Certified Crop Advisors Program.
