The Starrett 3811A is a state of the art, digital portable hardness tester, designed to test the hardness of large, hard metal parts. The 3811A combines fast test speeds with ample memory and output. It performs tests that easily convert to most popular hardness scales such as Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers and Shore. This compact hardness tester is loaded with useful functions usually found only on high priced models. Digital Portable Hardness Tester. • Test the hardness of metal parts • Comes with a calibration block • Leeb style tester designed for large, hard parts – load the impact body and place the impact device on your test piece • Accuracy: +/- 0.5% (referred to L=800) • Repeatability accuracy: +/- 4L units (L=Leeb) • Measuring range: 200-960 HL • For steel & cast steel, alloy tool steel, stainless steel, grey cast iron, spheroidal iron, cast aluminium, brass, bronze, wrought copper alloy
ANGULAR TORQUE GAUGE 1/2”DR
Torque angle meters, or torque angle gauges, are designed to ensure that the “tightness” among fasteners on a given component is equal. Calibrated in degrees. Tightening by angle of degrees rather than torque pounds per foot removes any error produced by friction in the threads of the fasteners.

ABSOLUTE DIGIMATIC MEASUREMENT
Absolutely safe, absolutely ingenious: The ABSOLUTE system. All Mitutoyo measuring instruments with this logo incorporate the ingenious ABSOLUTE measurement system. An ABSOLUTE scale only needs to have the origin position set once, which then holds for all future measurements, no matter how often the instrument is switched off. Incremental measurements can be made at any time without losing the origin setting.
• Spring-loaded plunger expands within the bore (or groove), allowing determination of the internal diameter (or groove width). • With a knurled clamp. • 8 - 12.7mm gauge, 12.7 - 19mm gauge, 19 32mm gauge, 32 - 54mm gauge, 54 - 90mm gauge, 90 - 150mm gauge.
· Waterproof digital calipers suitable for use in the presence of coolant or cutting oil. · Hardened stainless steel construction and equipped with standard outside and inside jaws. · ABSOLUTE System scale for error free, high-speed measurement. · Automatic power-on/off.

BUY IN BULK & SAVE!! Suited to general purpose drilling in steels, cast steel, grey cast iron, malleable cast iron, nickel brass, aluminium alloy and graphite. Point angle: 118°, helix angle: normal, web thinned for easier penetration: standard, relief angle: 10° - 20°, Black Finish Surface finish is the result of a steam tempering operation in which steam is passed over the drill during a controlled tempering cycle, producing a black oxide layer. Black tools are generally recommended for ferrous applications where the oxide layer aids chip flow, helps to dissipate heat by retaining some coolant on the tool surface and also helps to prevent the tool from staining.

Fretting
If noticeable marking is evident on the taper a condition called fretting may be occurring. Fretting happens when two steel parts (holder and spindle mouth) are rubbing against one another. Fretting is visible as small copper colored pits or marks on the taper. This is evidence that the toolholder is becoming worn. Fretting can be mistaken for rust, but it is not. Once noticeable fretting develops the toolholder should be replaced.
Collets
Collets are manufactured from softer metal than toolholders, allowing them to “spring” and tightly grip the cutting tool. As a result, they will wear out faster than the holders will. Worn collets will cause cutting tools to fail prematurely, costing manufacturers thousands of dollars in preventable costs. Collets should be re-

The pull stud is a critical safety component because it maintains the connection between the spindle and the toolholder. If that connection fails, the holder will dangerously fly out of the spindle.

Check the pull studs periodically for signs of wear, cracks, or other damage, and replace any that are not perfect or a dangerous situation may result.
