IZAK ZENOU ILLUSTRATIONIST

IZAK ZENOU Over the last two decades, French native, Izak has forged a reputation as one of the globes most prolific fashion illustrators. His love of women, fashion, and style icons such as Audrey Hepburn and Ines de la Fressange inspire his whimsical and enchanting view of life. Whether his distinctive characters are meeting for cocktails with girlfriends, taking a stroll through the park, or shopping with their puppies in tow, each vignette boasts Izak’s optimistic and confident vision of the world. Izak has lent his colorful and fresh fashion authority to a diverse range of advertising, promotional, and editorial clients across the globe. Izak started his career working for Chanel fragrances and has continued to work with them through the years. Celine produced a sell-out series of scarves; Guerlain, who created a limited edition Valentine’s fragrance with Izak; Sephora, who created a capsule collection of cosmetic bags, make-up, and accessories; and perhaps most notably, after 20 years of collaboration and until the closing of the stores, Izak dazzled shoppers as the face of Henri Bendel. IZAK ZENOU X HENRI BENDEL

“Everything inspires me! It can be a gesture, an expression, or a perfect imperfection. It can be the way a piece of clothing translates into body language, the way a ray of light hits a surface, the sound of a word, or a piece of music—I love music. My senses, somehow, connect the dots and communicate directly to my hand. I think that’s why my work is the most spontaneous and effortless. Sometimes, I get surprised by what I’m drawing and I like that. It’s like whatever I’m drawing is channeled from within me. I al-ways want my drawings to feel lighthearted, relatable and warm. Through my many years of being a fashion illustrator, working with some really great brands like Henri Bendel whom I worked with for over 20 years, I realized how my work makes high lux-ury into something familiar and approachable, while still being aspirational. That’s how I see my work. Whatever the project - for licensing it could be a notebook, a scarf, a t-shirt, luggage or even dinnerware, I like to help brands make high-quality products that are desirable and unique yet truly ownable. For me, this is where art and commerce meet.” — IZAK
