Congratulations Jude!

You may remember in last month’s Bulletin we waved goodbye to Jude as she started her maternity leave. Fast forward a month and we have a new addition to the Traidcraft family – welcome to the world Phoebe Olive Allen. Congratulations to Jude and her family for their wonderful news.

The RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival has been an incredible watch this year. One of our favourite gardens was silver medal winning ‘The Fashion Footprint Garden’ which focused on the impact the fashion and textile industries have on the environment. The garden’s design took inspiration from the textile dyeing pits seen in India and Asia. There was a sunken area containing a water feature with two steel barrels, reminiscent of the dye vats used in the indigo-dyeing process. The volume of water here equates to that used to make a single pair of jeans. We love that the word is getting out there about nonsustainable denim and its impact on the environment!

Traidcraft Summer Party

Here at Traidcraft HQ, we are making sure that we are rested up and ready to face a busy autumn/winter period. Last month, we held our Traidcraft Summer Party – the first time in over 18 months that the whole team have been able to socialize together. It felt like a real landmark moment for Traidcraft and a wonderful time was had by all (see pages 16-17 for some pictures of the afternoon).

Road Shows September 21st - 24th

Unfortunately, we are unable to meet in person again this autumn. However, we will be hosting a series of virtual road shows during 21st - 24th of September. The events will run from 7-9pm and will include highlights from the new catalogue, latest news from Traidcraft PLC and Traidcraft Exchange, Plans for Autumn/Winter to support your sales and of course a discount code for those who come. The culmination of their "How Green Is Your T-Shirt" upcycling project, this fashion show will feature a range of models drawn from the local community, showcasing the work of fair trade campaigners and supporters around the UK who have been busy all summer creating wearable art from green Fairtrade cotton T-shirts.
