Traidcraft Exchange Update
from Living Fair - May
There’s not long left to show your support to the Regenerators!
Whether you want to make the most of the easing of lock down restrictions and hold a fundraising event, make an online donation, donate your surplus, plant some trees or take up a challenge, time is running out! With donations doubled until the 7th June 2021, thanks to the UK government, there’s not long left to double your impact for those fighting back against climate change. So let's take a look at your money can do when it's doubled by the UK government to help people stand strong in the face of climate change...

£25 becomes £50
And could help fund a training session on growing climate resilient crops or fish farming.
£50 becomes £100
And could help a Regenerator plant a whole acre of new trees and protect forests for generations to come.
£100 becomes £200
And could help fund solar panels for smallholder farmers
The difference in action - Monira explains...
This project is changing our lives and making us aware about climate change. We are (now) trying to build our houses stronger and on a higher place. We save 100 taka per month with which we can do a lot in the future. We warn people from our group not to cut down trees. We encourage people to plant more trees. We try to make people from our group aware that we should refrain from using plastic as much as possible. Together when we stand side by side, we are able to deal with many problems.
Even a small amount of support from you can make a huge difference.
Donate to The Regenerators Appeal between 8th March and 7th June 2021 and the UK government will double your gift to help the most vulnerable stand strong in the face of climate change.

A chilly challenge over Easter
In the unusual circumstances of lockdown, we ran a Big Brew fundraiser with a difference this year. Raising funds for Traidcraft Exchange’s current Regenerators Appeal, the virtual event was hosted jointly with Traidcraft plc. During the coldest April for many years, participants enjoyed a hot cuppa while listening to Traidcraft Exchange’s Head of Policy, Ally Carnwath discuss the serious subjects of climate change and poverty, and a Traidcraft coffee and chocolate set was given to our Easter quiz prize-winner, Joanna Pollard. But the highlights of the event were the live challenges undertaken by staff. Far from receiving a frosty reception, the suggestion that Amy Wilson, Head of Fundraising at Traidcraft Exchange, should take on the ice-bucket challenge was sportingly accepted. The sight of Amy gamely emptying an ice bucket over her head for such a good cause was heart-warming indeed - for all but Amy! Her cold-water shock was the cause of much hilarity and glee, especially for her young family members! Another big shout of gratitude goes to our dear colleague at Traidcraft plc, Matt Oliver, who was persuaded several uncomfortable weeks in advance of the event, to keep his itchy beard on, so he could shave it off live during the event. Having already sung an unaccompanied solo of Gilbert & Sullivan’s ‘Titwillow’ from ‘The Mikado’, Matt’s water-bowl and Bic-razor shave brought the event to an unusual end, with combined relief and selfconsciousness for Matt, and a great source of therapeutic laugher and entertainment for the rest of us. The event, with only 30 participants, raised a very generous £650 for the Regenerators Appeal, which will be doubled by the UK government. Thanks to all who participated and donated – and special thanks to Amy and Matt, our stars of the show!

100km team break new ground
At the time of writing the Traidcraft Exchange 100km in April team have raised just over £20,000 for the Regenerators Appeal - all by walking or running in their local area – be it the north of Scotland, Gateshead or even the Seychelles!
The 300 strong team has clocked up thousands of kilometres in support of those on the front line of the climate crisis – with the added bonus of their fundraising amount being eligible for the Traidcraft Exchange Camino de Santiago trek in October.
