Goal 1: Healthy Foundations (Objective 1.1) Lifeskills & Leadership Considerations: 1) People don't change over night (or in one charla)--plan a sufficient amount of contact time to make measurable change in participants' attitudes, behavior, knowledge, and/or skills. 2) Your available measurement tools are pre/post surveys, plan time at the beginning and end of your activity for this. (Objective 1.2) Sexual Health & Gender Considerations: 1) You must attend the Sex Ed workshop first; 2) indicator 1.2.c requires a minimum of 4 contact hours; 3) indicator 1.2.e must be administered one month after program completion -- make sure you start with a cohort you'll still have access to 4) you can do written or oral evaluations for indicators 1.2.b, 1.2.c, and 1.2.d. (Objective 1.3) Physical Activity, Arts, and Rereation Considerations: 1) Minimum of 50% participation is required to meet 1.3.a; 2) the other indicators focus on students incorporating your activities into their personal routine either on a non-weekly or weekly basis-access to the means of incorpation will affect this as much as motivation and ability.
Goal 2: Youth Support (Objective 2.1) Parent Support Considerations: 1) You have options of either an interview or questionnaire for evaluation. The questionnaire is faster, but knowing that literacy can be a factor consider offering both; 2) the 2.1.c post-test asks for an example of improved communication skills--plan this post test after sufficient time has pasted for parents to implement the new skills. (Objective 2.2) Service Provider Support Considerations: 1) If you are co-facilitating with a teacher under any other indicator, but you are teaching that teacher how to implement and sustain the program, consider reporting a separate activity under this indicator as well; 2) According to 2.2.b, these are the YD strategies to promote with SPs: ask for student opinions in the creation of activities; promote diverse participation; give students an active role in planning activities; actvely seeks out service and peer-to-peer leadership opportunities for students; allow students to evaluate programs provided to them; promote active participation in committees and student support groups; and promote the consideration of youth voices in the institution and community.
