"Prez Sez" FALSE START OR WHAT? After the warm sunny weather of mid March, we are all shocked back into reality with the current snow showers and cold temperatures. Levina & I did manage to get the Healey out and take a couple of short trips, just to get the season underway and prepare for our marathon tour this summer to Rendezvous via the Pacific Coast Highway and return through Jasper & Banff. Hopefully the snow has gone somewhere else by then! Sunday, April 22nd is a date I hope you all have blocked on your calendars. I don't need to tell you that this is the annual Flea Market in Ancaster. If you have not already volunteered please contact Ed Kesik as soon as possible at edkesik@gmail.com. The various committees have the event well under way and your participation will make their efforts worthwhile and make this event the success we need it to be. There are many other great events planned for this year, so why not plan on taking in one…or two. Who knows, you will probably have fun and a great time with like minded people. All details are, or will be, on the Club website www.ahcso.com and don't forget the monthly meeting at Ned Devine's pub in Milton on the second Wednesday of each month. So. Ancaster. Pub Night. Well Folks, looks like we got a false start for the beginning of our Healey driving season- we did get a taste two weeks ago - but Mother Nature has her own agenda we have to accept - so its back to the garage/barn for our LBC's for a few more days at least. Our get-well-soon wishes go out to our Regalia man, Wally Holmes who has had a recent health 'glitch' but thanks to our Canadian Health system - which is second to none - Wally is fixed up and heading back to the healthy list. We are so blessed in our country to have access to the best in medical care and services that does not push us in to exorbitant debt. We should all count our blessings for that. See you at Pub Wally!

1958 AUSTIN HEALEY 100-6 BN4 $42,500 CDN This 1958 BN4 was purchased by me in 1984 and underwent its first restoration. It was originally from Riverside, California and has had 2 previous owners besides myself. The speedometer is original and shows 33810 miles. Two years after purchase the car underwent a frame up restoration with transmission and engine rebuilds. Almost all of the car has the original parts that have been refurbished. The following were done during that time: - rebuilt brake and slave cylinders - new 72 spoked silver wheels - new tires - 2 coat metallic brown paint (originally primrose yellow) - all chrome redone - new rugs - new seat covers (vinyl) - new boot liner - totally restored hardtop same color as car - electronic ignition - convertible top and tonneau - SS exhaust - all new electrical harnesses - tripod headlights The car has been carefully driven and maintained since then and has seen no rain, no snow and has been garaged for the winters. The under frame has not been restored. Everything in the car works properly including overdrive and an add-on vacuum gauge which reflects excellent engine function. There are no tools nor a jack. Archived by the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust - " This was a very early Abingdon-built 100-Six, in fact the 365th car built at Abingdon, which may explain any difference in the all-weather equipment compared to later cars." The all-weather features are somewhat in common with the 100-Four and have been retained. Overall this is a fully equipped excellent driver in need of nothing. It also represents an unmolested frame and body that could easily be transformed into concours material. Photos are available to interested parties. TECH SESSION - MARCH 17 Our March tech session for the Austin Healey Club of Ontario was held at Rich & Lyn Chrysler’s shop in Mount Hope on Saturday 17th with a good turnout of enthusiasts in attendance. Rich had two interesting cars in the shop for viewing. Mike Whitcombe’s Healey Blue BN1 is nearing completion and had a lot of folks viewing, taking notes and pictures. He reminded us of a proud new papa. Across the shop was Peter Dendekker’s early Longbridge 100/Six chassis assembly resplendent in its Pale Primrose paintwork, with the earliest stages of assembly work begun. We were able to show and point out many details on this open assembly that can’t usually be seen on a finished car. Again, lots of notes and pictures were taken as Rich showed us a number of interesting details, products available and points of interest to keep in mind during the many aspects of restoration assembly work. The happy gang broke for an excellent lunch at a nearby eatery and some of us came back for further one on one conversation with the last enthusiast leaving late afternoon. NEWS FLASH FROM ORR RANCH "Misty Blue" had her first run of the season a couple of weeks ago when the temperature was 27 degrees!! She purred like a kitten during the drive and was glad to get out of the barn!! .......and now back to winter ! uggg!
GOODWOOD FESTIVAL OF SPEED This wonderful event will be held this year from June 28th. to July 1, 2012 on the beautiful grounds of Goodwood House in West Sussex, England. In special honour of Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee this year, a special selection of vehicles owned or used by Her Majesty will be there. None of these vehicles have ever been seen together in public and will be the highlight of this prestigous event. Hopefully some of our members will be able to attend this celebration and bring us back some pictures of such a special year.

HEALEY SMILE Splinters in Her Crotch A woman from downtown Toronto, who was a tree hugger, a card carrying Liberal, and a highly vocal anti-hunter, purchased a piece of timberland near Bancroft Ontario. There was a large tree on one of the highest points in the tract. She wanted a good view of the natural splendor of her land so she started to climb the big tree. As she neared the top she encountered a spotted owl that attacked her. In her haste to escape, the woman slid down the tree to the ground and got many splinters in her crotch. In considerable pain, she hurried to a local ER in Bancroft to see a doctor. She told him she was an environmentalist, a Liberal, and an anti-hunter and how she came to get all the splinters. The doctor listened to her story with great patience and then told her to go wait in the examining room and he would see if he could help her. She sat and waited three hours before the doctor reappeared. The angry woman demanded, "What took you so long?" He smiled and then told her, "Well, I had to get permits from the MOE, the MNR, and the Ontario Planning Board before I could remove old-growth timber from a "recreational area" so close to a waste treatment facility. I'm sorry, but due to McGuinty health care policies and cutbacks, they turned you down!"
