Official Newsletter of the Austin-Healey Club of Southern Ontario

"Prez Sez" UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT When I was asked to allow my name to stand for election as President of A.H.C.S.O. I was somewhat reluctant, not least because the position had been occupied for the past seven years by a very able and capable person. Laurie has steered the club through a number of outstanding events, left us in a good financial position and crowned it all with a very successful Conclave in Kingston last summer. Thank you Laurie, you will be a very hard act to follow. Hopefully we can continue to have an active and vibrant Club, serving the needs of Healey owners whatever their interests and level of involvement. We have a new team heading up the events committee in the form of Mark Doust and David Underhill and I am hoping you will give them all your support and make sure to attend the events they put together. Our annual flea market at Ancaster is coming up quickly in April, and all members are asked to volunteer some time to help this to be the success that it has to be in order for our Club to keep enjoying the benefits that you have all come to expect, especially keeping the dues at a minimum level. Martyn will be signing up volunteers wherever he can find them. The rest of your executive have all volunteered their time to the Club and I ask that you give them your full support. This winter will be over before we know it, so let's get all those little (and large) maintenance jobs done and our cars can be back on the road as soon as the weather allows. GET INTO YOUR HEALEY AND SEE WHAT YOU GET OUT OF IT!!

Bob Yule

View From the Navigator's Seat At our first executive meeting with our new President Bob Yule leading us, plans for the upcoming 2010 'Healey' year are well under way and promise once again to be an exciting and fun year. Our first important event (and our only money maker) is just around the corner with Ancaster British Car Flea Market & Car Show on April 18th. We sure hope the global warning thing kicks in that day so we don't have to wear our 'woolies' as was the case last year! We at the club booth were okay but those poor souls outside taking admission were frozen! Martyn Ridley has promised a nice sunny, warm day so we will hope he is right. As you will see in the Events Calendar there are many fun things planned for this season so get out to as many as you can and support this wonderful club who provide everything you need to maintain, drive and appreciate the fantastic experience of being a 'Healey' owner. See you in Ancaster!

ANCASTER FLEA MARKET If you haven't already done so mark SUNDAY, 18 APRIL on your calendar - Flea Market Sunday. The site is now complete. This year we have access to both buildings, a paved parking lot and amenities. While I can't promise sun and a gentle breeze I can say that you won't have to climb over construction or wander through the mud. With the site complete we have expanded the number of tables available. If you are thinking of being a vendor - this is your year. In addition to more tables we have expanded and relocated the outside vendor area to ensure that we can handle what ever! For Sale cars will be gathered together for ideal viewing and we have plenty of parking for vendor vehicles. Those who choose not to vend can volunteer. John Roden and I will on the look out for volunteers to work the gates, set-up and tear-down. The Flea Market sign up site will be on-line for those who want to grab that plumb assignment (6AM set-up?). Like the man said "Volunteer early and often." This year the club has decided not to run a club vendor table. If you have but a few items to sell there is no reason why you can't get together with another member with a few items and share a table. Ask around at pub night, you are not the only one, I suspect there are many members that would like to sell the odd/extra objects in their garage. Now just in case your brain is two years out of date the Flea Market is now located at the corner of HWYS 2&53 and HWY 52 in Ancaster. Not familiar with the area, exit HWY 403 at HWY 52 and go south to the first traffic lights - yer can't miss it! Time: 9:30 am - 3:30 pm Admission: $5.00 To view Flea Market Flyer - please go to: www.ahcso.com and look under 'Events' It may be the dead of winter but before you know it................... Keep your tyres pumped, Martyn Ridley

EXECUTIVE POSITION Regrettably Ian Smith is not able to carry forward with his announced role as Healey Flea Market Coordinator. As a result we are looking for a replacement for the position of Co-ordinator in Training for this year. If you would consider this role please contact any member of the executive. We need your support and involvement.

OUR BN1 COMES HOME Last week, Lyn and I purchased a Hundred , this time for ourselves! It's a really early one, built in mid November '53. Four good friends assisted with the gathering, loading and delivery of our BN1 project car the following Tuesday afternoon. The weather gods were smiling on us as it turned out to be ideal conditions for the move; not numbing cold, just cold enough that things weren't melting or wet so the roads were clean and dry. We began about 11 AM and everything was back and off loaded by 4 PM, including a stop for lunch on the way home. The reason I wanted to share this with everybody is that fact that going out for this expedition with good friends to share the experience (and the labour) made the day even more fun and special for me. I want to publicly thank Austin Healey Club of Southern Ontario members Scott Morris, Graham Secord, Peter Svilans and Martyn Ridley for help with the move. In fact Martyn came back for almost all of the next day to help me to sort through everything so I could catalogue and take notes, while he somehow managed to pack and store it all in my now very cramped facilities.
