Welcome to Red Deer... It's pretty cool when you can go to a farm and visit with three generations all in one family! All three are involved and have brought bulls to sell in the Red Deer bull sale! I am referring to Oh Kay farms who may have been selling bulls as long as any other producer in central Alberta. The "Smash" sons will be some of the stand-out bulls. Applecross Cattle are coming off a high at the Fleckvieh Equation sale where they sold a strong set of heifers, one topping out at $30,000! Dennis and Jeanne are bringing three top notch bulls to this year's sale. Due to another heavy heifer-to-bull calf crop again this year, you better be ready to buy now, because there won't be many bulls next year either. Starwest Farms will be offering a strong set of Fullblood bulls. You will find some exceptional big-topped, long-spined power bulls. Bulls of various frame score and birth weights, along with a great group of polled bulls. The Starwest herd now calls Calmar home! JNR Farms is a name synonymous with outstanding herdbull prospects! Whether it be selling elite breeder bulls or powerhouse commercial bulls the Repka family has enjoyed many successes over the last decade. This set of bulls will surely see a ton of interest again this year. Keato Meadows Simmentals has a strong set of bulls again this year. Johnathon has done a nice job developing this group of bulls, they will make their new owners very happy! The Edwards Family of Didsbury are well known in the area for their successful agricultural practices. Riley has continued on with this in his registered Simmental program. His goals are obvious, he is acquiring top genetics to create the best Fullblood Simmental program he can. This year’s set of bulls are the best Skywest offering to date, headlined by a powerful son of the $40,000 “Philosophy”. Red Top Livestock, owned by Ben & Kassandra Farrant are both multi generational registered cattle breeders. The knowledge they have gained from their own pedigrees is an apparent advantage as they have been on the high seller list here before and come with another solid string of bulls that includes a full brother to the aforementioned past high seller, who will be one of the thickest Red Simmentals to sell this spring. T-F will be bringing a purebred and a halfblood bull for offer. As I’ve gotten older, I decided that I don’t like pulling calves. So we have put together a group of herd bulls that have done that for us. We pull very few calves and when that happens usually the calf mothers up quicker and is a lot healthier. All the bulls in this group were born unassisted. TERMS - The terms of the sale are cash or cheque payable at par at sale location. The right of property shall not pass until after settlement is made. Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves the right to require a certified cheque as settlement before releasing any sale cattle. Should any purchaser fail to settle for his purchase Transcon Livestock Corp. reserves full power to resell the animal to the best advantage either publicly or privately, without further notice. Any loss arising from such resale together with keep and all other expenses shall be payable by the defaulter. All settlements must be made with the clerks of the sale before any cattle will be released. BID - Every animal consigned to the sale must be sold by auction. No private sales will be allowed except as otherwise provided for in the terms and conditions. No by-bidding will be permitted. Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. SALES TAXES – Applicable sales taxes will be charged on semen, embryos and trucking fees (if listed), respective to the home province of the buyer, not the seller. DISPUTES - In cases of disputes, bidding will be reopened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer’s decision in such matters will be final. PURCHASER’S RISK - Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as sold. Animals will be cared for at the purchaser’s risk for a reasonable length of time. INFORMATION SUPPLIED - The information contained in this catalogue is believed to be true and accurate. However, the information has been supplied by the seller and neither Transcon Livestock Corp. or Freelance Photo-Graphics assume any responsibility if the information supplied is not accurate. He weaned off just shy of 1,000lbs and he’s been gaining around 4lbs/day consistently since fall on a grain-free ration. This bull is larger-framed and big-footed. Although smaller-framed, he arguably has one of the widest top lines in the pen, a trait we have often been seeing with Blueprint progeny. His dam, Starwest Pol Cinnamon was the top heifer in our pen but, unfortunately, due to an injury, we were unable to retain her in the herd. She managed to give us a glimpse of her potential with this offering. Starwest Echo is quite the genetic package with Blueprint, who needs no introduction, as well as Total Value on his dam’s side. The sire of this calf was purchased from Czech-Mate Livestock at Bull Spectrum in 2016. Epic had the highest adjusted yearling weight of 1,522lbs and gained 4lbs/day. His sire, IPU Red Specialist 70T, is known for creating great maternal females. We felt Epic was going to offer us a combination of maternal power and calving ease, while adding performance to his calves. Epic’s calves have turned out to be everything we hoped for. The granddam of 25E came from Rendezvous Farms in Manitoba. Our Rendezvous females have been productive cows and left us with many replacement females. 25E was 1,374lbs on January 1.

Regardless the flush was very successful and we now have some pretty remarkable halfbloods. A full sister to this bull sold in December at the Red and Black sale for $6,250. A full brother sold last spring for $5,000. We love the progeny 131X produces for us, her calves are all like peas in a pod. The consistency is remarkable, the bulls are all heavy-muscled and good-footed. The females have tight udders and raise us marketable calves.
