Illinois Wesleyan has a history of helping students realize their educational goals regardless of financial situation. In the past, with a promise to meet the financial need of all deserving students, the University attracted some of the brightest students from all economic backgrounds. In recent years, however, we have not been able to meet the demonstrated financial need of all accepted students. This has made it impossible for some highly qualified students to enroll or has required them to take on large student loans. Promise Awards, which are awarded in addition to other assistance where exceptional need is demonstrated, not only help deserving students afford an Illinois Wesleyan education, but also increase diversity on campus, immeasurably enriching the educational experience of our students.
