The problem with DC is that there is just so much to do. The National Mall, America’s most visited national park running from the U.S. Capitol Building to the Lincoln Memorial, is unmissable. A highlight will be the Library of Congress, the biggest library in the world and home to the truly beautiful Thomas Jefferson Building. From here, walk to the Capitol and do a tour. There are 17 Smithsonians to see as well as the Spy Museum –a hidden gem. For something different, go for a paddle on the Potomac, visit Arlington Cemetery, and venture further afield to Mt Vernon, the home of George Washington. In the evenings, dine at one of the many Michelin-starred restaurants including minibar by José Andrés, and have a cocktail at the Off the Record Bar at the HayAdams – the place to see and be seen.

New York City, New York

From rooftops bars or platforms atop skyscrapers or at street or river level, New York City is a big, beautiful, melting pot of cultures and excitement. From the traditional observatories like the Empire State Building to the new CityClimb at The Edge – the highest outdoor building ascent in the world – looking down over Manhattan is a rush. Do the quintessential New York things like visiting the Guggenheim, walking to the Whitney down the High Line, doing a bike tour of Central Park, shopping along 5th Avenue or in Chelsea and drinking cocktails at rooftop bars. See a Broadway show and visit the new Museum of Broadway that opened late in 2022, stroll around Little Island, and walk over the Brooklyn Bridge to the blossoming borough of Brooklyn.
