The Three Towers
Torres del Paine National Park, Chile
The untamed majesty of this 227,298-hectare national park is almost indescribable, with snowtopped massifs, glaciers, valleys and wildlife to enchant. It is a trekking wonderland, with trails taking you through dense forests, alongside waterfalls, imposing granite cliffs, and past turquoise lakes. A highlight will be the three towers, the tallest of which is Cerro Paine Grande, at a height of 2,884 metres. Take a boat tour to the Grey Glacier, one of several significant glaciers in the park. The wall of crevassed blue ice, accompanied by icebergs floating in turquoise-grey water is captivating. While in the park, go horse riding with a gaucho or do a photography tour to try and capture the beauty in your lens. You might spot condors, guanacos, or if you are lucky, the elusive puma on your travels.
