PRESTIGE Your holiday. Our speciality.

Hello and welcome to Prestige I’m so delighted to show you our wonderful holidays to the Channel Islands and Isles of Scilly. When we set up Prestige Holidays back in 1989, I’d already been in the travel industry since leaving school and had witnessed first hand the rapid expansion of the sector. Those were exciting times, but all too soon the connection with the customer and pride in giving good service was in danger of being lost. That’s why we set up Prestige, with a mission to deliver service, value and our unparalleled expertise to our customers. Then, as now, we only offered destinations which we know intimately, and our passion was to ensure that our customers got the holiday they deserved. Good things rarely go out of fashion and I’m delighted to say that, more than a quarter of a century later, our business still firmly stands on those foundations. Our customers place great trust in us and continue to enjoy the treasures we find for them, time and time again. We are happy to stake our name on it, and offer our Prestige Pledge to hand-pick only those places that will make your holiday special. Within this brochure you’ll find the spectacular archipelago that is the Isles of Scilly as well as the stunning Channel Islands of Jersey, Guernsey, Sark, Herm and Alderney. Many of these islands offer that ‘step back in time’ feeling and each is a truly unique offering, I struggle to pick my favourite. I hope you love them as much as I do! I take great pride in introducing you to all of my colleagues at Prestige. Our reservations team have a first-hand, in-depth knowledge of these islands and hotels - like no other tour operator I know of. But please don’t just take my word for it, I encourage you to call us and discover this for yourselves. Best wishes

Many visitors to the Channel Islands opt to stay in Jersey and, more often than not, in St Helier. This year, we are moving our focus to the rural heart of the island and showcasing our Country Collection of hotels. We are pleased to add the Greenhills Country House Hotel to our collection to accompany the Chateau La Chaire, La Place Hotel and the Atlantic Hotel.

Over in Guernsey, we have added Le Friquet Country Hotel and Apartments to compliment our existing Country Collection properties on offer. In Sark, we are pleased to now be working with Clos de Vaul Creux, a fantastic boutique guesthouse. Stay at any of the hotels where you see the “Country Collection” stamp and receive a complimentary bottle of wine in your room and save up to a third on you car hire cost or receive complimentary bicycle hire for the duration of your holiday. The Helicopter returns to the Isles of Scilly The long awaited and much talked about helicopter service from Land’s End to the Isles of Scilly is finally back in operation. This will operate year round, with up to 8 flights a day, 6 days a week. The helicopter, a brand new 10 seater AW-169, is a very welcome sight and alternative to standard air travel. With a fifteen minute flight time, it is officially the quickest way to get across to the islands. Nothing says VIP more than this and it is the perfect way to arrive at your destination in style. “Closer To Home” Escorted Touring Following on from the success of our escorted tours to the Isles of Scilly this year, we have added more tour dates for 2019, including one which departs from Bournemouth. These are a fantastic way to explore the islands as a whole, accompanied by specialists in wildlife, archaeology and anthropology. We are also including an escorted tour to the Channel Islands, which gives you the opportunity to visit all five of the islands with a full and comprehensive itinerary. PRESTIGE NEWS

We will also be making a donation of £5 from every booking made to the Jersey Zoo to support the Durrells vision for “a wilder, healthier, more colourful world”. At Prestige, we would like to do what we can to contribute towards the fantastic breeding programmes for release into the wild and conservation training undertaken at the zoo. By 2020, Jersey Zoo aims to have 90% of it’s species contributing towards this.

isles of scilly A dream-like quality lost in time

The Isles of Scilly is an archipelago around 30 miles off the south-western tip of England. Though numbering over 50 islands in total, only five are inhabited. The total population of St Mary’s, Tresco, Bryher, St Martin’s, and St Agnes is just over 2,000, contributing to that special ‘step-backin-time’ feeling and providing a taste of the timeless magic of childhood holidays. Amid wonderful scenery, younger children can explore rock pools and endless sandy beaches, while the older ones - and the adults - can hike nature trails, hire bikes, or ride horses along the shore. The islands are a bird watcher’s paradise, with approximately 435 species of birds, including cormorants, gannets, oystercatchers, max shearwaters and puffins to name but a few.

8 isles of scilly

On Scilly, everything revolves around the sea, so why not take the opportunity to spot some Atlantic grey seals? Twice weekly inter-island gig races take place through the summer months and they are a great spectacle to watch. Walk Scilly takes place in April and October, with guided and themed walks, including a chance to explore the uninhabited outlying islands. Others include a Folk Festival in May, Comedy Festival in June and Taste of Scilly in September. Eating out in the Isles of Scilly is an alfresco delight. What could be better than enjoying fresh fish and chips on the beach, gazing out at waters the same colour as those in the Caribbean? Or a delicious freshly-caught lobster salad in one of the local restaurants?

THINGS TO DO IN the isles of scilly St Mary’s

Island Sea Safaris

Hugh Town is the capital, sitting between two sandy beaches, and is an interesting place to explore with its independent shops, galleries, restaurants and pubs. Why not hire a bike or a golf cart to explore the island, stopping wherever you fancy to visit an artist’s studio, or sit in a beach front café, admiring the view?

St Mary’s Riding Centre

Additionally, with over 30 miles of nature trails and walks, St Mary’s is the ideal island to explore on foot.

Garrison Walls

St Mary’s is the most inhabited island, possessing the Scillies’ sole airport and major port, from where you can hire boats to explore all the islands - and if you’re lucky, perhaps spot seals and puffins. Underneath the waves, divers can explore the area’s huge network of shipwrecks and marine life.

Tresco

Tresco is the only privately-owned island. With its long silver beaches and historic sites, including King Charles Castle - a coastal artillery fort dating back to the 16th century - it is an incredible place. The island is most well known for its famous Abbey Gardens, home to a wonderful array of exotic plants from all over the world. This terraced sub-tropical garden boasts an amazing collection of 20,000 plants from over 80 countries. Gallery Tresco showcases some of Cornwall’s finest art in a converted boatshed, and holds 10 exhibitions during the summer months. A visit to the Tresco stores and deli is a must, with its strong emphasis on Cornish produce, ranging from Tresco beef and Newlyn fish to Scilly ice cream.

Bryher

The smallest of the inhabited islands, Bryher offers sheer wild beauty one day, and calm tranquillity the next. The luxury Hell Bay Hotel has won many an award, and other eateries include the fabulously named Crab Shack and Fraggle Rock - a bar Jamie Oliver once hailed as one of Britain’s best boozers! The film When the Whales Came was filmed on the island, based on Michael Morpurgo’s novel. At certain times of the year, you can also walk between Tresco and Bryher. As the tide retreats to reveal a sandy pathway, a pop-up seafood and fizz festival helps islanders (and visitors) celebrate one of the most special experiences to be found anywhere in Britain.

St Martin’s

At just two miles long, and boasting some of Britain’s finest beaches, St Martin’s is certainly worth a visit. Only around 130 people live on St Martin’s, but the island has a diverse and enterprising community. Visitors can wonder around a flower farm and vineyard, a locally inspired silver jewellery designer, a gallery showcasing local art, and a bakery offering artisan bread. A dive school on the island offers diving and snorkelling trips with seals.

St Agnes

St Agnes is just a mile across and, as a result, remarkably unspoilt. It is an island of stunning contrasts, from its dramatically exposed west side to its paradise beaches with more sheltered coves. A visit to Troy Town Farm to try their homemade ice cream is a must for any visitor to the island - and is the southernmost settlement in the UK.

Island Sea Safaris operates the ever popular “Shipwrecks, Seals and Seabirds” 2 hour wildlife safari daily. From April through to July, look out for puffins, razorbills and guillemots and from September through to October you can sea the pups in the local Atlantic grey seal colony. Approximately £35 per adult and £27 per child.

This is the only fully licensed and insured centre offering instruction and treks for all abilities. Trek along the beach and unspoilt coastline on one of their 22 horses. Pre-booking by telephone is essential and prices start from £20 per person. Children must be over 4.

These impressive defences have a history spanning 350 years and are situated above Hugh Town. Access on foot or by bike through the winding streets. Open during daylight hours; entry is free.

Holy Vale Vineyard

Run by the owners of the Star Castle this is the perfect place to pop in for a lobster lunch and wine tasting.

Tresco Abbey Gardens

This 19th century garden is often called “a perennial Kew without the glass”. Open daily from 10am to 4pm, adult entry is approximately £15 with children under 5 free.

World Pilot Gig Championships

This is without doubt the busiest time across the archipelago and 2019 will be the 30th year of the event. Early booking is essential to visit and be a spectator to the races.

Introducing our island experts We are proud to be able to work with some of the local leading authorities and personalities in our destinations, in order to give our guests full and authentic experiences whilst they are on holiday. The Isles of Scilly are no exception to this and we are excited to work alongside Will Wagstaff and Dr Katharine Sawyer.

Will Wagstaff

Will is the islands’ resident ornithologist and naturalist and leading authority on all things flora and fauna in the Isles of Scilly. Will first began leading guided wildlife walks in the Scillies in 1985 and since then his work has taken him around the world including Europe, North Africa, South America and most recently, Antarctica. After spending eight years as a conservation officer and guide for the Wildlife Trust, Will then started his own business; Island Wildlife Tours. Will’s guided walks are available to pre-book for just the day, or for longer. Typically tours to the “off islands” depart from St Mary’s quay at 09.45 and from Porthcressa Bank at 10.00 for the St Mary’s walk every weekday morning between April and October. Itineraries can vary from week to week and are tide and weather dependent, but you can expect to see a variety of flora and fauna on each tour. On Tresco, you can see inland pools and stop at the hides to view resident and migrant waterfowl. In Bryher, you will see an island of two halves, first exploring the sheltered southern beaches, passing via the pool to the wild and rugged Hell Bay in the afternoon. www.islandwildlifetours.co.uk Will also gives a slideshow presentation most Saturday evenings in the Church Hall, St Mary’s (payable locally, approximately £5 per person). Please visit his website before you travel for more up to date information, as on some dates during the year Will will not be running these tours due to prior commitments. Will has become a familiar and much loved face at Prestige Holidays and also leads our escorted groups on the islands (see pages 14 and 15).

Dr Katharine Sawyer

Katharine has an MA in Archaeology and Anthropology from the University of Cambridge and moved to the Isles of Scilly in 1999, having visited many times previously. As well as leading walks and boat trips, Katharine also carries out archaeological fieldwork and recordings on the islands. Katharine established Scilly Walks in 2000 and, along with her husband, leads the walks to the archaeological and historical sites on many of the islands. As well as the islands you will find in our brochure, Katharine guides visitors to several of the uninhabited islands such as Samson, Nornour, Tean and St Helen’s. These operate between April and October and although booking is not necessary, please see the Scilly Walks board at St Mary’s Quay for full information during your stay, as these excursions are weather dependent and the boatmen’s decision is final. Katharine also runs weekly slideshow presentations at the Methodist Hall in St Mary’s on Monday evenings, and admission is approximately £4.50 per person (selected dates are excluded; please check the website www.scillywalks.co.uk for up to date information).

Will Wagstaff’s knowledge of the island’s flora and fauna is exceptional. If it was there he would find it! Fantastic tour! t, April 2018.

FLORA AND FAUNA IN THE SCILLIES

£1399 per person

Escorted group tour with special guest Will Wagstaff 5 nights Springtime departures: 05 April, 17 & 25 May 2019 Autumn departures: 20 & 27 September 2019 The Isles of Scilly has received some serious attention from people in search of that step back in time feeling and the special magic of childhood holidays. Just five of these islands are inhabited and 1,800 of the 2,200 residents live on the largest: St Mary’s. On this island, there are just nine miles of road but over 30 miles of walking and cycling trails. Due to their unique geographical position just off the coast of Cornwall, there is an abundance of flora and fauna just waiting to be discovered - often not seen anywhere else on the UK mainland. There are approximately 453 species of seabirds, waders and migrants which can be spotted throughout the year, including the oystercatcher, night heron, manx shearwater and the redstart. Spring is a particularly good time to see birds in song displaying their brightly coloured breeding plumage, and April also sees the arrival of breeding puffins. Coastlines become awash with alliums, wild primroses and sea thrift, and the elm trees, which escaped the Dutch elm disease which blighted much of the mainland, begin to flower. The islands are also home to rare plants such as the orange birdsfoot and dwarf pansy. In Autumn you can expect to see large numbers of migrating birds such as redstarts, flycatchers, waders and thrushes. The Isles of Scilly are incredibly important and essential to life for these passing birds. During this tour, stay on and explore St Mary’s, visit the islands of Tresco, Bryher and St Martin’s, and take a boat trip to the uninhabited Eastern Isles to catch sightings of the Atlantic grey seals. The tour is be escorted by Will Wagstaff, the islands’ resident ornithologist and naturalist, who has been leading tours for over 25 years. t o u r h i g h l i g ht s • • • •

springtime IN THE SCILLIES £1399 from bournemouth six nights from per person

with special guests Will Wagstaff and Katherine Sawyer 6 nights Springtime departure: 19 April 2019 Travel to the Isles of Scilly is not always the easiest, with direct flights operating from Exeter, Newquay and Land’s End only. Let us take the stress out of the journey by joining us on our first escorted group tour to these magical islands from Bournemouth. Enjoy executive coach travel to and from Penzance for our ferry crossing, stopping in Lyme Regis on our way there, and Darts Farm on our way back.

Will Wagstaff

Katherine Saw yer

During this tour we will stay on St Mary’s in the capital Hugh Town, nestled between two sandy beaches and home to independent shops, galleries, restaurants and pubs. As well as St Mary’s we explore the islands of Tresco and St Agnes, both of which are just a short twenty minute ferry crossing away. The tour is escorted by a Prestige Holidays tour manager and features guided walks by Will Wagstaff and Dr Katharine Sawyer. We feel that spring is one of the best times to visit the islands for the spectacular variety of flora and fauna on show. Prevailing weather means no two years are the same in terms of which species can be encountered and many local initiatives are taking place to improve populations. One such initiative is the removal of brown rats from St Agnes in 2017, from which there has already been recorded a growth in the Manx Shearwater population. The Puffins are also of course one of the most popular sights in the spring, as well as the oystercatcher and night heron.

Star Castle Hotel ««««

H u g h Tow n , St M a ry ’ s

Built in 1593, this Elizabethan castle is in the form of an eight-point star, and is surrounded by a dry moat and broad ramparts. It is only a short stroll from Hugh Town.

features Two restaurants open in summer - the atmospheric, award-winning Castle Dining Room with exposed beams and an open fire, and the vine-clad Conservatory, which is light and airy with fabulous views, and specialises in local seafood dishes. The Dungeon Bar, where prisoners languished 400 years ago, is now a welcoming spot after a day exploring, with exposed stone walls and old military paraphernalia. Scillonian real ale is served here! The Channel Islands The Channel Islands can often be a much overlooked destination. The islands are just an hour’s flight away from many regional airports in the UK, so it could not be easier to visit for a week’s holiday or just for a long weekend break away. For those who prefer not to fly, you can take the Condor ferry from either Poole or Portsmouth, as foot passengers or with your own car. If you are looking for fine wine and dining, culture and heritage and a landscape which changes at every cove, you will not be disappointed in the Channel Islands. There is a terrain and an activity to suit everyone; we are sure you will fall in love with these islands as much as we have.

What’s On? Throughout the year, there are numerous events and festivals taking place across the islands. There are too many to name, but we have listed below a few we believe are not to be missed: April:

Wild Flower Walks, Sark

May: Liberation Day, Jersey and Guernsey Boat Show, Jersey Walking Festival, Guernsey June Jersey Style Awards, Jersey Sunset Concert at Mont Grantez, Jersey July

Out-There, Jersey

August: Battle of the Flowers, Jersey Alderney Week, Alderney Jersey Film Festival, Jersey Cobo Bay Balcony Gigs, Guernsey September: International Air Show, Jersey Walking Festival, Guernsey Taste Guernsey Food Festival Weekends, Guernsey Air Display, Guernsey Ale and Cider Festival, Herm Channel Islands Pride, Guernsey October: Tennerfest, Jersey and Guernsey Angling Festival, Alderney Food Festival, Alderney December: La Fête de Noué, Jersey

Channel Islands Explorer from Poole

nine nights from

£1999 per person

Escorted group tour 9 nights departing: 16 May 2019 The Channel Islands are an archipelago in the English Channel, with Alderney being just 10 miles from the coast of France. This tour is like no other, taking in five of the permanently inhabited islands of Jersey, Guernsey, Sark, Herm and Alderney. Each island is distinct in its own right, steeped in a rich history and offering a warm welcome. Jersey still remains delightfully French, retaining that ‘Je ne sais quoi’ which has attracted visitors for years, offering boutique shopping, fine dining and cocktail bars without losings its traditional appeal. Guernsey too is a real fusion of French and English styles. It is no surprise that this island has inspired the likes of Victor Hugo who completed Les Miserables whilst in exile here, and painter Renoir who was mesmerized by the “shimmering” light of Moulin Huet Bay. Sark is world renowned for its step back in time feel that cannot be found anywhere else. There are no cars; getting about is on foot, by bicycle, or by horse drawn carriage. This delightful island was one of the first to be awarded a “Dark Sky Island” in 2011 as the minimal light pollution affords visitors a fantastic spectacle of stars, meteors and the Milky Way on cloud free nights. Herm is a tiny island straight from the imagination of Enid Blyton. At just 1.5 miles long, you can walk the whole perimeter and between May and July, nesting puffins can often be seen. The beaches are idyllic and Herm is home to the famous white Shell Beach. Alderney is a quirky island full of contrast. On the north and east coasts, there are beautiful sandy beaches and grassy dunes whilst St Anne’s is a picturesque town with cobbled streets and eclectic shops. Here you may also see the rare blond hedgehog scavenging for food. This definitive tour will guide you through the heritage of each of the islands, discovering their identities and nuances. Remnants of their history are everywhere; from the German Occupation of World War Two to the Norman ownership in the late medieval period. May is a fantastic time to visit, with an abundance of flora and fauna. Gastronomers and wine connoisseurs amongst us will be spoilt for choice tour h ig h l ig h t s • • • • •

jersey

A small island with a big personality

In the last few years, Jersey has really shaken off its ‘old fashioned’ image and now offers many 21st century comforts and facilities, without losing any of the island’s traditional appeal Stylish hotels, boutique shopping, fashionable cocktail bars and high quality restaurants have been added to this Channel Island jewel, without ever losing its delightfully, often quaint, French ‘je ne sais quoi’, which has always captivated tourists. The most famous example of the French touch is Mont Orgueil Castle, whose romantic, majestic look is often used to illustrate features about Jersey and which bears more than a passing resemblance to the more famous Mont Saint Michel in France. Just 45 square miles when the tide is up, Jersey boasts some of the best sandy beaches

28 channel Islands

in the Channel Islands - and that is a proud boast indeed when you see what’s on offer elsewhere. Move inland, and nature lovers can enjoy exploring the Green Lanes, a network of around 50 miles of roads where pedestrians, cyclists and horse riders have priority over motor vehicles. This part of Jersey is a real throwback to far more innocent times, and contrasts sharply with the vibrant capital city of St Helier. Charmingly compact, with trendy Liberation Square at its epicentre, designer boutiques and high street names jostle for your attention within St Helier’s pedestrianised streets - perfect for that all-important spot of retail therapy. Whether you’re looking for spas, shopping, golf, history, heritage, fun, forest or a gastronomic feast, you’ll find them in Jersey.

THINGS TO DO IN jersey St Helier and the South

St Helier is the vibrant capital city of Jersey and is a must for any visitor to the island. After shopping, why not stop off at one of the delicatessens, cafes or a Michelin starred restaurant? Culture wise, there are plenty of museums and galleries, while a trip to Elizabeth Castle is definitely recommended. Defending Jersey for more than 300 years, the castle is sat atop a rocky outcrop in St Aubin’s Bay, and can be reached on foot during low tide or by the amphibious Castle Ferry.

St Aubin

The bay of St Aubin stretches from St Helier in the east to St. Aubin’s village in the west - a vast beach, dotted with cafes and extremely popular for swimming and watersports. St Aubin itself is a pretty fishing village, offering independent shops, galleries and cafes. Just inland you will find the Jersey War Tunnels, a chilling look at when the island was occupied by German forces during the World War II.

St Brelade’s Bay

Arguably the most famous and popular beach; a sheltered, south-facing stretch which is very safe for bathing throughout the year. In the summer months, water sports are available, while cafes are open all year round. Beach Ability provides manual and ballooned wheelchairs.

The West Coast

The stunning and natural landscape will not disappoint those looking to explore a wilder and more rugged side to Jersey. Walk along the sea wall watching surfers ride Atlantic waves, or discover the many coastal walks. Prestige Holidays suggests the seven-mile moderate walk from Plemont Bay to the iconic Corbiere Lighthouse, taking in the entire sweeping length of the west coast. Also in the west you will find the aMaizin Adventure Park, Creepy Valley Adventure Centre, Les Ormes resort and its extensive sports facilities and the National Trust for Jersey Wetland Centre.

The North

Home to steep cliffs and hidden bays, the north is perfect for those looking for beautiful scenery. This is a popular area for walking and also cycling, although not for the faint-hearted as inland Jersey can be quite hilly. The Durrell Wildlife Conservation Park, made even more popular by the recent TV programme The Durrells, is a great place to spend the day. You can even book with us to stay at their wildlife camp. La Mare Wine Estate offers tours and tastings while, for relaxation addicts, Greve de Lecq is the north’s most popular beach and well worth a visit.

The East

La Mare Wine Estate

Open to visitors from late March to early November La Mare Wine Estate make handmade wines, spirits, preserves and chocolate. Daily tours and tastings are available from £9.95 per adult and you can prebook online at www.lamarewineestate.com

Jersey Heritage Pass

Visitors can purchase a Jersey Heritage Pass which offers unlimited access to all four sights: Mont Orgueil Castle, Elizabeth Castle, La Hougue Bie, Jersey Museum and Maritime Museum for the price of three. Adult price approximately £33.

Battle of the Flowers

An annual festival spanning two days, usually around the 9th and 10th August. This is one of the most spectacular floral festivals and includes a daytime and nighttime parade. Early booking is essential to secure accommodation; ask us to pre-book your parade tickets as part of your package.

Watersports and Sea Safaris

There are a multitude of companies offering watersports around the island. From coasteering and kayaking to windsurfing and sailing, you will not be disappointed.

Liberation Day

Probably the most widely anticipated event on the island, the 9th May celebrates the end of the five-year German Occupation during World War Two. Expect lots of food and drink stalls, screening of war time footage, music and dancing.

Botanic Gardens at Samarès Manor

Visit the many gardens and unique plant collection on offer. Open daily from mid March to early October. Admission charges are approximately £9.75 per adult. There is also a café and, for an additional charge, visitors can also have a tour of the manor.

Tamba Park

A must visit for families. There is a Dino-Trail, crazy golf, micro-boats, trampolines, play area, ‘zap-zone’, toddler zone and sand-pit. Children ages 2-14 pay approximately £4.95 and adults £3.95 for entry, making this a good value for money option for families. Please see website for opening hours www.tambaexperience.co.uk.

a few things you should know

The East of the island has a multitude of picturesque towns and harbours, such as Gorey in the parish of St Martin’s, home to Mont Orgueil Castle. Protecting Jersey from the French invasion over 600 years ago, a labyrinth of staircases and secret rooms brings the castle to life. For those looking for more secluded beaches, try Anne Port Bay and Havre de Fer, ideal for rock pooling. Moonwalking on Jersey happens when the island’s massive tidal reach suddenly, and dramatically, reveals rocks, reefs and pools - a strange kind of “moonscape”. Be sure to go with a guide as tides can be treacherous.

• You do not need a passport to travel to the Channel Islands (although photographic ID is required) • Sterling is the currency here, although the island does have its own money, the Jersey pound. • You will not need plug adaptors. The island uses three pin plug sockets of 240 volts • A pet passport is not required for travel from and to the UK • Cars and dogs can be taken on board the Condor ferry • Some hotels have limited or no parking in St Helier

The award-winning restaurant is not to be missed, serving modern British cuisine with the emphasis on local Jersey produce. Within the six acres of gardens is an outdoor pool, with sunbeds and umbrellas, usually open May-Sep. For the cooler months, there is an indoor pool with small gym, sauna and Jacuzzi for guest use. For the more adventurous, there is a steep walk down to St Ouen’s beach, where one can enjoy the five miles of golden sand!

Breakfast is both a buffet and a la carte, offering local Jersey produce. The Brasserie is open for lunch and dinner, and during the spring and summer, the sun terrace offers an al fresco setting. Alternatively, a two-minute stroll takes you to the hotel’s own Rozel Pub. Relax in the traditional oak panelled Raymond’s Bar and lounge to enjoy cocktails and the informal day menu of snacks and nibbles.

Recommended for its luxury and warm welcome, and in a great position overlooking St Ouen’s Bay, The Atlantic is also an ideal choice for golfers, with the neighbouring La Moye Golf Course. Car hire would be recommended at this hotel due to its location. The Atlantic Hotel is a member of “Small Luxury Hotels of the World”.

The area offers some great views over Rozel Bay and the coast of France, 14 miles away. Please note that, due to the hotel’s location within a valley, there are some fairly steep slopes which may not be suitable for those with walking difficulties. A perfect choice for friends or couples looking to explore the north of the island.

guernsey Truly British with a French flair

Guernsey and her neighbouring islands of Herm, Sark and Alderney provide beautiful little cameos. Writers and artists have been inspired by Guernsey: French poet Victor Hugo was exiled here for 15 years where he completed Les Miserables and painter Renoir was mesmerised by the “shimmering light” of Moulin Huet Bay. The recently released epic movie The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, is centred around the occupants of the island in the aftermath of World War II. The island is steeped in history and there are many reminders around the island of the German Occupation (The Channel Islands were the only part of the British Isles successfully invaded by the Nazis). Local crab, lobster and prawns regularly feature on restaurant menus, and the food

is so good that French visitors often sail over for their dinner! There is no better recommendation than that. A great time to visit Guernsey is during the Tennerfest festival, a six-week slice of foodie heaven in OctoberNovember, when many restaurants offer daily two and three course menus starting from just £10. The island attracts families seeking a traditional holiday with fabulous beaches and a wide range of activities. Couples are discovering that Guernsey is an increasingly fashionable place, boasting romantic hideaways and stylish restaurants - again, a real fusion of French and English styles, tastes and fashions. Groups of friends are regularly choosing the island for a weekend get-together where boat trips, boutique shopping and shore-side bistros provide a fabulous break.

THINGS TO DO IN guernsey St Peter Port and the East Coast

The island’s capital, which showcases a sparkling marina full of yachts and fishing boats, is also the departure point for regular ferries to the beautiful islands of Herm and Sark. Along the waterfront are bars, cafés, restaurants and small smugglers’ passageways that lead to the centre of town, a classic mix of French and British architecture. Tourists love pottering among the galleries and individual boutique shops selling clothes, jewellery, shoes and antiques. Roads are steep and often cobbled, so if walking is an issue please ask for hotel recommendations. Castle Cornet is a must visit - standing proudly on the entrance to the harbour, this 800-year old citadel offers a daily guided tour at 10.30am and the firing of the noon-day gun by scarlet-clad gunners. Beaches are spectacular in Guernsey and each coast offers uniquely stunning bays. The picturesque Fermain Bay can be reached only by foot, and its café is a popular stop on the coastal walk from the capital. Just inland is Suasmarez Manor - an historic house offering tours, subtropical gardens, a sculpture park and pitch and putt among its attractions.

The South Coast

This coastline offers secluded bays and picturesque harbours. The coast path on this side of the island has a large continuous stretch of seminatural vegetation, mainly consisting of clifftop grassland and heathland. Bird watchers will enjoy spotting cormorants, shags, fulmars, kittiwakes, oystercatchers, dartford warblers, peregrine falcons and long-eared owls which nest in sheltered spots in the cliffs. Moulin Huet - tricky to access but well worth the effort - is where Renoir once spent a summer sketching 15 famous pieces. The café, like many others on the island, offers homemade cakes and delicious crab sandwiches. Further inland, and just north of the airport, the charming Little Chapel is possibly the smallest chapel in the world. Originally built by Brother Deodat in 1914, it has been rebuilt three times and is covered in pebbles and broken china. A must see attraction. In the same area is the German Military Underground Hospital, the largest remaining structure from World War II, housing the Occupation Museum.

The West Coast

If you time it right, take the opportunity to visit Lihou Island just off the west coast. It is accessed for about two weeks a month, across a causeway at low tide, and has a fascinating history and varied wildlife. To the south of Rocquaine Bay is the Fort Grey and Shipwreck Museum, one of Guernsey’s three Martello towers dating back to 1804.

The North Coast

Wide expanses of white sand open up on the north beaches, giving a true wild and rugged feel. Walking the cliff paths here is very popular - why not pick up a copy of the Tasty Walks Guide from the Tourist Office, taking in the delights of beachfront cafes as you go? At low tide, a lunar landscape appears and offers amazing rock pools to explore. Watching the sun set at low tide on Cobo Bay Beach is a spectacle in itself. Ideal for families with children of all ages.

Saumarez Park

The largest public park in Guernsey, there is a café, children’s playground, large lawns, duck pond and the National Trust of Guernsey’s Folk and Costume Museum. Open all year round.

German Underground Hospital

This hospital is a truly unnerving insight into life during World War Two. Opening times vary; please check the website for up to date information during your stay. Admission is approximately £4 per adult and £2 per child.

Candie Gardens

Situated in the heart of St Peter Port, Candie Gardens is one of the few remaining Victorian Public flower gardens. There are also statues, the Priaulx Library and the Café Victoria. Admission to the gardens is free.

Castle Cornet

Constructed in the 13th century, Castle Cornet is an island castle which takes visitors through the rich history of Guernsey; through the Hundred Years’ War, English Civil War, and regular conflicts with the French and Normans. Here you will find a variety of replicas and original artefacts and events run throughout the year.

Hauteville House

Hauteville House was the home of the famous French writer Victor Hugo whilst he was exiled to Guernsey in the mid 19th century. Closed for renovations in 2018.

Watersports/Sea Safaris

Like Jersey, there is a vast array of watersports and activities around the island. From coasteering and kayaking to windsurfing and sailing, you will not be disappointed. Lihou Island is a must see for swimming, rock pooling and wildlife. Please be wary of the tide when crossing the causeway and take local advice.

a few things you should know

• You do not need a passport to travel to the Channel Islands (although photographic ID is required). • Sterling is the currency here, although the island does have its own money, the Guernsey pound. • You will not need plug adaptors; the island uses three pin plug sockets of 240 volts. • A pet passport is not required for travel from and to the UK. • Cars and dogs can be taken on board the Condor ferry. • Some hotels have limited or no parking in St Peter Port. If you have a car, why not try one of our country properties? • Public car parks in St Peter Port require a parking clock, which can be purchased locally or on the ferry.

THINGS TO DO on these islands Alderney

Herm

Attractions: • Alderney railroad • Angling • Walking Tours • Fortresses • Wildlife • Alderney Lighthouse

Attractions: • Diving - most famous shipwreck here is the Forth, sunk in 1906 • Kayaking • Paddleboards • Guided Walks • St Tugual’s Chapel • Ale and Cidre Festivals • Shell Beach

The most northerly and third largest Channel Island, Alderney boasts over 50 miles of cliff walks, fortresses, World War II batteries and a nine hole golf course. Just 3 miles long by 1.5 miles wide, the island offers a relaxing retreat and we are often asked for Alderney to be twinned with Guernsey. Direct flights from Southampton and Guernsey mean you can continue your holiday without going back on yourself. This quirky island - only ten miles off the French coast - is home to the rare blonde hedgehog, which can sometimes be seen in the capital of St Anne’s scavenging for food. Wildlife watchers will be treated to dozens of fascinating birds and animals, many unseen on mainland Britain. Alderney is an island of contrasts. Beautiful sandy beaches and grassy dunes are found on the north and east coasts, while St Anne’s boasts picturesque cobbled streets, a choice of bars and restaurants and eclectic shops. A great time to visit is early August, where the annual Alderney Week festival is the largest of its kind throughout the Channel Islands, perennially popular with locals and tourists alike.

A tiny island straight out of an Enid Blyton book, with masses of wild flowers and the famous white Shell Beach, Herm is just a 20-minute boat ride from Guernsey. At just 1.5 miles long, you can walk around the whole, beautiful perimeter - visiting all Herm’s tranquil, picturesque beaches - in around two hours. Between May and July, watch out for nesting puffins on an island which has regularly won a Britain in Bloom Gold award. Like Sark, Herm is a car-free island, so children can roam freely and safely. The beaches are idyllic, with white sand and turquoise waters. Why not hire a kayak, and take part in a guided kayaking tour, or try your hand at fishing? Tours run throughout the season, including a guided garden tour and an Island tour run by Annette Henry to discover the islands’ legends and ghostly sightings. There is also the wonderful, voluntary Herm fire service which operates a tractor-hauled fire tender - you’ve never seen a fire station quite like this! Various events throughout the year, including a real ale and cider festival, Herm fun run, yoga retreats and wine tasting weekends.

Sark

Easily reached by boat from Guernsey and Jersey, there are no cars on Sark. Getting about is on foot, by bicycle or by horse drawn trap - a real step back in time. The formal gardens of La Seigneurie, one of the most enchanting of its kind in the British Isles, are definitely worth a visit and the Avenue, the main street on the island, is home to cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops. Sark, the smallest of the four Channel Islands, was designated the world’s first dark sky island back in 2011. On a cloud-free night, countless stars and hurtling meteors are visible against a backdrop of the Milky Way that reaches across the sky from one horizon to the other. You can watch this amazing spectacle in one of the regular star gazing classes held on the island. Another amazing sight - and this one can easily be viewed - is La Coupée, a narrow isthmus just nine feet wide, 300 feet in length and 80m above sea level which connects the island with Little Sark. The isthmus is gradually being eroded away, and eventually, Little Sark will become an island. Go there before that happens!

a few things you should know

• You do not need a passport to travel to the Channel Islands (although photographic ID is required). • Sterling is the currency here, although the islands do have their own money, the Guernsey pound in Herm and Sark and the Alderney pound in Alderney. • You will not need plug adaptors; the island uses three pin plug sockets of 240 volts. • A pet passport is not required for travel from and to the UK. • Dogs can travel on Condor ferries, Trident ferry to Herm and Sark Shipping. • All these islands are accessible from Guernsey. If you want to combine with Jersey, you will need to travel via Guernsey.

Attractions: • La Seigneurie Gardens • The Venus Pool • La Coupee • Star gazing at the observatory • Horse and Carriage Tour • Sark Museum • Occupation Museum • Permaculture Gardens at Stocks Hotel

Thanks to Prestige, we were able to visit Guernsey as well as all of her islands in one holiday. A truly unforgettable trip! Mr D, travelled June 2018.

A beautifully refurbished country house hotel in a secluded wooded valley in the centre of the island, providing a luxurious stay in a beautiful setting

f e a tur e s Family-run and personally managed, the hotel has been an integral part of Sark’s history for centuries. Indeed, it was once a farm, and the oldest part of the building dates back to 1741. The Isle of Sark attracts many visitors for its beautiful gardens and scenery, and Stocks Hotel is no exception. Having decided to expand the vegetable gardens, in 2013 the unique Permaculture Garden was created at Stocks, growing vegetables and cut flowers for the hotel. Permaculture is a worldwide collaboration and concept to change the impact the human race has on our planet and work towards greater land regeneration and sustainability. This has now become a firm favourite for guests to visit, by appointment only, and with the recent addition of Head Gardener Susan Fryer, the hotel will be developing and expanding this even more. The most enchanting and carefree way to explore car-free Sark, and indeed the best introduction to the island, is a private tour by horse and carriage using Stocks’ own livery stables. The hotel has a variety of vehicles ranging from an original 1850’s vintage Ferrari Victoria carriage, to a wagonette and a large van, and the horses - Ronaldo or Willow will be delighted to make your acquaintance. A taxi carriage can be arranged to meet you on arrival and take you to Stocks, or if you would like an idyllic and more leisurely day, we can arrange a tour of the island, perhaps with a picnic hamper and bottle of Champagne. Carriage rides after dark are particularly romantic as you clip-clop along traffic-free, leafy lanes under Sark’s starry skies! The hotel runs several special interest weekends throughout the year, such as the Foraging Weekends with River Cottage’s John Wright, and murder mystery weekends. The hotel can also offer wine and whiskey tastings.

The hotel is actually a cluster of little white cottages, and inside, there is an old world charm. Wooden floors and beams, antiques and rugs give a rustic feel, and there’s a roaring log fire in the bar, depending on weather. The hotel is surrounded by glorious gardens and its own little organic farm which supplies the restaurant with fresh ingredients. Sark is covered with gorse and the gorse honey served with breakfast is good here. Fresh local fish and Sark lobsters are specialties of the restaurant. Cream teas are served in the garden or Tea Room. The hotel has three horse and carriages for hire. One of the island’s best beaches is easily reached by footpath from the hotel.

The hotel is close to the top of Harbour Hill where the horse and carriages depart from, and is just a few minutes’ walk to the restaurants and shops on the Avenue. There is a garden restaurant serving meals from 9am to 9pm Tuesday to Sunday, and breakfast daily. There is also a full lounge for guests to use which boasts a large log stove, cosy leather sofas and a TV with DVD player. The hotel has a liquor licence so why not enjoy a chilled glass of wine in the tranquil gardens which surround the property. Well behaved dogs are welcome on a request basis. The holidays in this brochure are advertised and operated by Atkins Travel Limited trading as ‘Prestige Holidays’, a fully bonded tour operator. Our flight based holidays provide full financial protection by way of our Air Travel Organiser’s Licence number (ATOL) 2509 issued by the Civil Aviation Authority, Gatwick Airport South, West Sussex, RH6 0YR, UK, telephone 0333 103 6350, email: claims@caa.co.uk. When you buy an ATOL protected flight or flight inclusive package from us you will receive an ATOL Certificate. This lists what is financially protected, where you can get information on what this means for you and who to contact if things go wrong. Please see our booking condition 17 for information, or for more information about ATOL go to: www. caa.co.uk. Atkins Travel Ltd is a member of ABTA and our package holidays that don’t include a flight are protected by means of a bond held by ABTA The Travel Association, 30 Park Street, London, SE1 9EQ www.abta.com. In the unlikely event of our insolvency, the CAA or ABTA will ensure you are not stranded abroad or will arrange to refund any money you have paid to us for an advance booking. The contact details for Atkins Travel Limited are 1 Fridays Court, High Street, Ringwood, Hampshire BH24 1JA (‘the Company’s Office’), enquiries@ prestigeholidays.co.uk, 01425 480 600. Our office hours are 09.0019.30 weekdays (seasonal), 09.00-17.00 on Saturdays and 10.00-16.00 Sundays (seasonal). 1. We want you to have an enjoyable holiday and so that there is no misunderstanding you should carefully read the following terms and conditions as these will apply to any contract you make with us. 2. We reserve the right to alter the prices of any of the holidays shown in our brochure. You will be advised of the current price of the holiday that you wish to book before your contract is confirmed. 3. The contract is between Atkins Travel Limited (‘the Company’) and the person making the booking and/or the person(s) on whose behalf the booking has been made (‘the Client’). 4. In order to confirm a booking we will require you or our authorised agent to send us (a) the Company’s online booking form properly completed and signed by or on behalf of the Client /an email commitment and (b) the appropriate deposit of £150, or more, per person. See also Clause 12(d). (c) A contract will exist between the Company and you when you pay a deposit/full payment to the Company or its agent or the Company has verbally confirmed the booking. The person signing the booking form confirms with the Company that he has the authority of all persons named thereon to contract on their behalf the services requested in the booking form. 5. The balance of the holiday price shall be paid by the date to be advised but in any event shall not be more than ten weeks prior to your departure. 6. If the deposit and/or balance is not paid in time, we shall cancel your travel arrangements. If the balance is not paid in time we shall retain your deposit. 7. Once you have booked, whatever happens to the value of the Pound, the price of your holiday will not be subject to any currency surcharges or refunds due to the bank contracts we have in place. (a) The price of your holiday is, however, subject to surcharges or reductions on the following items: the price of the carriage of passengers resulting from changes to the cost of fuel or other power sources, and the level of taxes or fees imposed by third parties including tourist taxes, landing taxes or embarkation or disembarkation fees at ports and airports. However there will be no change within 20 days of your departure. We will absorb and you will not be charged for any increase equivalent to 2% of the price of your travel arrangements, which excludes any amendment charges. You will be charged for the amount over and above that. If this means that you have to pay an increase of more than 8% of the price of your travel arrangements, you will have the option of accepting a change to another holiday if we are able to offer one (if this is of equivalent or higher quality you will not have to pay more but if it is of lower quality you will be refunded the difference in price), or cancelling and receiving a full refund of all monies paid, except for any amendment charges. Should you decide to cancel because of this reason, you must exercise your right to do so within 14 days from the issue date on your final invoice. Should the price of your holiday go down due to the changes mentioned above, then any refund due will be paid to you. We will deduct from this refund our administrative expenses incurred. However, please note that travel arrangements are not always purchased in local currency and some apparent changes have no impact on the price of your travel due to contractual and other protection in place. 8. As we plan your holiday arrangements many months in advance we may occasionally have to make changes or cancel your booking and we reserve the right to do so at any time. You will be informed without delay of a cancellation (for any reason) by the Company and on such a cancellation except where it occurs due to non payment by you, the Company will offer you the choice of an alternative holiday of at least comparable standard (if available) or a full refund of all monies, payable within 10 days of you requesting such refund. Compensation may be payable on a sliding scale. See No. 9 (c). 9. (a) A major change to the contract is one which would involve a significant change to the holiday (e.g. a significant change in resort). (b) If the Company makes a major change after it has confirmed the booking the Company will immediately inform you and offer the choice of an alternative holiday of at least comparable standard (if available) or cancelling and receiving a full refund of all monies, payable within 10 days of you requesting such refund. Please read any notification of changes carefully and respond promptly as if you do not respond to us within the timescale given your booking may be cancelled. (c) Subject to (d) below if the Company cancels, or makes a major change and you accept a refund rather than an alternative, after the date of payment of the balance of the holiday price it will in addition

58 booking conditions

to the choice offered in sub-paragraph (b) of this clause compensate you as follows: Period before departure date

Compensation due payable per person

More than 70 days 70-29 days 28-15 days 14-0 days

NIL £25 £40 £50

(d) The provisions of clause (c) will not apply in the event of a major change or cancellation due to any cause beyond the Company’s control, the consequences of which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. The following shall be regarded as causes beyond the Company’s control: (i) Act of God, explosion, flood, fire or accident. (ii) War, terrorism or any threat thereof, insurrection, civil disturbance. (iii) Any government or local authority restrictions or regulations. (iv) Strikes or other industrial actions (or threat thereof). (v) Departure delays (to/from the destination) caused by unavoidable technical problems to transport, strikes, industrial action (or threat thereof), weather conditions, epidemic or pandemic illness or other circumstances beyond the control of the Company. (e) We will confirm the airline/ferry company identity when you book. If it changes we will advise you. This may be at the airport on the day of departure. A change of airline/ferry company is a minor change to your holiday, as is an alteration of less than 12 hours to the outward/return flight or change of accommodation to the same or higher standard. 10. (a) The Company will consider any reasonable request by you to amend or vary the terms of your travel arrangements but shall not be under any obligation to comply with such a request. Charges will be kept to a minimum, in some cases this may mean amendment or replacement cost of airline tickets. Any request for changes to be made must be in writing from the person who made the booking or your travel agent. (b) In the event of a reduction by you in the number of persons taking a self contained apartment or hotel room (or hire car) the Company may need to charge for any beds, transfers or seats unused as a result of that reduction. Please ask for a price. (c) You can transfer your booking to another person, who satisfies all the conditions that apply to this booking, by giving us notice in writing as soon as possible and no later than 7 days before departure. Both you and the new traveller are responsible for paying all costs we incur in making the transfer. 11. (a) All reasonable steps to ensure that the holiday is not cancelled or altered as a result of overbooking by hotels will be made by the company. (b) If the hotel is overbooked (despite the Company’s reasonable efforts) and the Company is aware of such overbooking before your departure the Company will immediately inform you and offer the choice of an alternative holiday of at least comparable standard (if available) or of a full refund of all monies, payable within 10 days of you requesting such refund and compensation will be payable in accordance with Clause 9 (c). (c) If the Company does not know of the overbooking of the hotel before your departure you shall on arrival at your destination be offered alternative accommodation. If the alternative accommodation is inferior to that originally booked the Company shall also offer reasonable compensation for disturbance. 12. (a) You may cancel the holiday at any time. The Company will charge you the cancellation fees set out below. Please note the exceptions to these charges set out in (d) below. A cancellation by you must be in writing signed by the person who made the booking or sent the email acceptance and sent to the Company’s Office and acknowledged by the company. (b) The Cancellation charges (expressed as a percentage of the confirmed holiday price) are as follows: Period before scheduled Amount of cancellation charge departure date during which written cancellation is received by the Company More than 70 days 70-43 days 42-29 days 28-15 days 14-8 days 7-0 days

Deposit/initial payment 30% 50% 70% 80% 100%

Also see (d) below. (c) You can cancel your booking without paying cancellation charges if the performance of your package, or the carriage of passengers to your destination, is significantly affected by unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances. In such circumstances, we will arrange for your booking to be terminated and for you to receive a full refund. We will observe advice provided by the UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office. (d) Some properties may demand part or full payment even if a holiday is cancelled. Additionally if we have bought aircraft seats in from another tour operator or a public airfare for you once you confirm your intention to travel, we are committed to pay for those seats or hotel rooms in full. If, therefore, you cancel your holiday at any time after booking, you will be/may be liable for the cost of those seats or hotel rooms in part or full. In these circumstances we, and therefore you, are bound by the booking conditions of the other supplier. We will also require an increased deposit, the amount will be advised at the time of booking. We will remind you of any exception at the time of booking your holiday. 13. The Company shall not be obliged to claim compensation for nor to make any allowances or refund for lost or expired or unendorsed tickets, hotel coupons, or vouchers for any service or accommodation booked. But if any allowance or refund is obtained by the Company it will pass the same on to you less any expenses reasonably incurred in obtaining it.

14. We will make your holiday arrangements with every care. We cannot, however be responsible for any damage or loss of your luggage or other property unless caused by any of our staff or suppliers. We cannot be responsible for any fatal or other injury or illness unless caused by the negligence of any of our staff or suppliers whilst on duty. You must inform us without undue delay of any failure to perform or improper performance of the travel services included in this package. If any of the travel services included in your package are not performed in accordance with the contract, or are improperly performed, by us or the travel service suppliers, and this has affected the enjoyment of your travel arrangements, you may be entitled to an appropriate price reduction or compensation or both. We will not be liable where any failure to perform or improper performance of the travel services is due to: you or another member of your party; or a third party unconnected with the provision of the travel services in the package and is unforeseeable or unavoidable; or unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances, which means a situation beyond our control, the consequences of which could not have been avoided even if all reasonable measures had been taken. 15. All arrangements made by or through the Company in connection with the booking are subject to the contractual terms of the suppliers providing the services that make up your booking. These terms are incorporated into this contract and may limit or extinguish your right to compensation. Further, we are to be regarded as having the benefit of any limit on compensation contained in the relevant international convention. These limit liability for death, injury and loss or damage to baggage. Copies of the contractual terms and international conventions are available on request. 16. If you’re in difficulty whilst on holiday and ask us to help we will provide appropriate assistance, in particular by providing information on health services, local authorities and consular assistance; and helping you to find alternative arrangements and any necessary phone calls/emails. You must pay any costs we incur, if the difficulty is your fault. 17. We, or the suppliers identified on your ATOL Certificate, will provide you with the services listed on the ATOL Certificate (or a suitable alternative). In some cases, where neither we nor the supplier are able to do so for reasons of insolvency, an alternative ATOL holder may provide you with the services you have bought or a suitable alternative (at no extra cost to you). You agree to accept that in those circumstances the alternative ATOL holder will perform those obligations and you agree to pay any money outstanding to be paid by you under your contract to that alternative ATOL holder. However, you also agree that in some cases it will not be possible to appoint an alternative ATOL holder, in which case you will be entitled to make a claim under the ATOL scheme (or your credit card issuer where applicable). If we, or the suppliers identified on your ATOL certificate, are unable to provide the services listed (or a suitable alternative, through an alternative ATOL holder or otherwise) for reasons of insolvency, the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust may make a payment to (or confer a benefit on) you under the ATOL scheme. You agree that in return for such a payment or benefit you assign absolutely to those Trustees any claims which you have or may have arising out of or relating to the non-provision of the services, including any claim against us, the travel agent (or your credit card issuer where applicable). You also agree that any such claims may be re-assigned to another body, if that other body has paid sums you have claimed under the ATOL scheme. 18. We do not run or control or have any other involvement in any excursions in our holiday destinations and we have not inspected them in any way. All excursion providers are entirely independent of us. If you buy any excursion(s) whilst on holiday, the contract will be between you and the excursion provider. The excursion(s) will not form part of the package or of your contract with us. We cannot accept any liability in relation to any excursion(s) and the acceptance of liability for contracted holiday arrangements in our booking conditions will not apply to them. 19. In the unlikely event of any dissatisfaction with the accommodation or any of the services provided during your holiday the matter must be reported immediately to the local representative or agent of the Company AND the hotelier so that action can be taken to remedy the problem. If we have not been given the opportunity to rectify the complaint at the time this may affect your rights. If the problem is not resolved satisfactorily during the holiday you should submit your complaint in writing to the Company at the Company’s Office within 28 days of the scheduled date of return from the holiday advising the Company of the action taken and the names of the people to whom the matter was reported. A written report must be obtained from our representative where we have one. Except in personal injury or death claims, our liability shall be limited to three times the cost of the holiday paid to the Company. We are a Member of ABTA, membership number V2715. We are obliged to maintain a high standard of service to you by ABTA’s Code of Conduct. We can also offer you ABTA’s scheme for the resolution of disputes which is approved by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute. If we can’t resolve your complaint, go to www.abta. com to use ABTA’s simple procedure. Further information on the Code and ABTA’s assistance in resolving disputes can be found on www.abta. com. You can also access the European Commission Online Dispute (ODR) Resolution platform at http://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr/. This ODR platform is a means of registering your complaint with us; it will not determine how your complaint should be resolved. Alternatively AITO & TTA operate similar schemes, please ask for details. For injury and illness claims, you can request the ABTA Mediation Procedure and we have the option to agree to mediation. 20. Every effort is made by the Company to give as accurate a description as possible for the hotels, guest houses, villas and apartments in this brochure. All facilities mentioned in the descriptions are generally available for the duration of the brochure but in certain circumstances (particularly in the low and off seasons) their provision may be limited e.g. weather conditions, maintenance, etc. Please note that the provisions of these facilities and any charges imposed for their use are totally outside the control of the Company. 21. These conditions are subject to English Law and the jurisdiction shall rest with the English, Scottish or Northern Ireland courts as appropriate.

Please read this information, only by doing so can both you and we ensure that your Prestige Holiday is everything you expect and we wish to provide. We are delighted to offer advice at any time. HOTEL FACILITIES Throughout this brochure Prestige Holidays refers to facilities offered by hotels such as swimming pools, air-conditioning, entertainment programmes, restaurants, children’s clubs, water sports and other amenities. Obviously the availability of all facilities is under the day to day control of the hotel management. Some larger hotels do on occasions host conferences, of which we will be unaware; this may mean restricted or alternative facilities are offered. Air-conditioning and pool heating are not usually on year round, and the dates they operate are subject to hotel management control. We will always try to advise you if any facility is not available. We feel sure you will understand that under these circumstances we cannot guarantee that any such facilities will be available during your stay. If you have a particular interest on holiday, such as tennis or if you will need a children’s club or baby-sitting, we will be very happy to verify that it will be available for you, before you book. Your needs are important – tell us what they are. HOTEL BEDROOMS Most hotel rooms are with twin beds but double beds may be available on request. Single rooms may be smaller. Extra beds or infants’ cots are normally available on request but may tend to ‘cramp’ the bedroom. CLASSIFICATION OF HOTELS Hotel classifications quoted are those officially approved in each country. Standards do vary and if you have any doubt as to the suitability of an hotel we are happy to offer advice. HOTEL ARRIVAL If you are travelling on an evening flight your hotel room is of course reserved for the night of your arrival. HOTEL CHECK-OUT Normally 12 noon but if you prefer a later check-out time we will do our best to assist, although the hotel may make a supplementary charge. Check-in times are normally between 2-3 p.m. FLIGHTS Prestige Holidays prefers wherever possible to use scheduled flights. This we believe reduces the chance of delays or cancellations, you travel as an individual and may vary the length of your holiday to anything from a weekend up to one month. Some flights can only be altered in an emergency and only at the discretion of the airline, a charge will be imposed. In the unlikely event of a flight delay, it is your airline’s responsibility to care for you (once you have checked in) and keep you informed of the extent of the delay, meals and overnight arrangements (if applicable). We are required to collect passenger contact details, please complete the relevant section on the online booking form. In the event of a cancellation, a major delay or if you are denied boarding you may be entitled to compensation and/or a refund from your airline but not an automatic refund of holiday costs from us. For details go to www.caa.co.uk. BROCHURE This brochure is issued on the sole responsibility of the tour operator. It does not commit the airline(s) mentioned therein, or any airline whose services are used in the course of the holiday(s).

BROCHURE VALIDITY This brochure is valid from 1 January 2019-31 December 2019. VISA INFORMATION If you are a British citizen and hold a valid UK passport you do not generally require a visa to travel to any of our destinations. However, your own particular circumstances (which will not be evident to us from your booking form) may mean that a visa is required for you or another member of your party. We would strongly urge you to contact the consulate of the country(ies) that you will be visiting to obtain the most up-to-date information before booking with us. We do not accept any responsibility if you cannot travel because you have not complied with any passport, visa or immigration requirements. HEALTH At the time of going to press no inoculations were required for any countries in this brochure. The Department of Health website www.nhs.uk/ehic will give you the latest information about obtaining a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). We will make every reasonable effort to advise you of any health rules but must emphasise that it is your responsibility to ensure any such rules are complied with. Illness or pregnancy may require a “fit to fly” certificate from your GP. Please advise us. REDUCTIONS FOR CHILDREN Some hotels in this brochure do give excellent reductions or even free accommodation for children. See the special offers on each hotel. Infants under the age of 2 years sharing parents’ bedroom will be quoted at time of booking as some hotels may make a hire charge for cots. Our normal charge includes air travel and a standard cot charge. Meals, if taken, will be charged direct by the hotel. In general children 11 years and under sharing parents’ room in hotels (not apartments) are entitled to a discount. Unfortunately children of whatever age occupying adult accommodation are ineligible for these discounts, except where specifically offered. Car seats for arrival and departure transfers can be arranged and will incur a charge. BOOKING A PRESTIGE HOLIDAY It’s so easy! Use your local bonded travel agent, book online at www. prestigeholidays.co.uk or call us on 01425 480600. It’s best to book early but we are excellent at late bookings too. Our normal deposit is £150 per person, but occasionally it may be higher - full payment is needed for bookings within 10 weeks of travel. OUR CONFIRMATION We will process your confirmation as speedily as possible and will then forward to you or your travel agent a full confirmation and invoice. It is useful to keep this handy, even when on holiday. PAYMENT Please note that full payment is due 10 weeks before your departure. You can pay for your holiday using any credit card or debit card.
