Travel made beautiful! Welcome to the world of If Only… , please feel free to completely indulge yourself whilst meandering through this exciting new addition to our portfolio. For a number of years agents and passengers alike have been urging us to service destinations in the West and this is our first foray into the USA. However, as with our other destinations, this is only after conducting very thorough research on our part. Furthermore, we have engaged the services of Product and Reservation Teams that have an intimate knowledge of the destination and are on hand to share their experiences with you. Yes, I could use this opportunity to wax lyrical about our strengths. For example, I could tell you: ..... that our levels of product knowledge are virtually unparalleled ..... that the service we provide is the envy of our competitors ..... that we have been the recipient of countless industry awards ..... that our fabulous team are always eager to 'go the extra mile' ..... that we provide a very personalised and bespoke service. And a massive ‘yes’ to all of the above! Then again, perhaps it is all too easy for companies to make such claims. But ask yourself why your travel professional has chosen to pass you our brochure. I would suggest that the answer is very simple - they wish to ensure that you are placed in the very safest hands. Our way of working, and what I and all of my team live and breathe at If Only… can be summed up in our mission statement: ‘We exist to provide personalised luxury holidays to some of the world’s most beautiful destinations and to ensure that we are the natural port of call for those seeking the ultimate bespoke travel experience. We are passionate about travel. Our mission is to do it better than anyone else’. So why compromise when 'travel made beautiful' awaits you at If Only... ? Brendan

About Us General
Price Panels
We are delighted to showcase our stunning selection of hand-picked hotels, resorts and tours in the United States of America. Sit back, relax and luxuriate over some of the USA’s finest. Each member of our dedicated USA reservation team is a destination expert, is well-travelled and will personally deal with your holiday requirements with passion, enthusiasm, professionalism and a friendly manner that is unparalleled.
IIt is not our policy to provide price panels throughout the brochure. There are two reasons for this. Firstly, all of our holidays are tailor-made, specifically for each individual, so clients are able to choose their own airline, itinerary, accommodation, duration and transportation. Secondly, we very often obtain special hotel rates and airfares after the brochure has gone to print and we prefer to pass these on to you. As a very general frame of reference, we would refer you to the hotel classification.
Awards In recent years the quality of our service has been recognised by the travel industry, having been the recipient of a number of national ‘Best Tour Operator’ awards. Furthermore, it has been particularly gratifying to have also been consistently recognised outside our own industry for business excellence.
Peace of Mind You are in safe hands with If Only... . In addition to our wealth of experience, you may rest assured that your holiday is financially protected as we hold all requisite licences and bonds, all detailed in the booking conditions at the back of the brochure.
Flights Generally we tend to only use scheduled airlines, in keeping with the quality of our overall product. For more detailed information on all our airline partners, please refer to pages 122 and 123. We are also able to offer competitively priced domestic connecting flights from regional airports. Please ask one of our reservation team for further information. Why not travel in style and upgrade your flights to the more luxurious first and business class cabins? This will also enable you to relax in the airport lounge and enjoy complimentary drinks and snacks prior to your flight These upgrades are sometimes available on a one-way basis and are probably more reasonably priced than you imagine - an ideal way to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, honeymoon or to simply indulge yourself.
Transfers Where transfers are by land, generally speaking If Only… provide private car transfers. Where appropriate we also offer a ‘meet and greet’ service, as well as helicopter and limousine transfers in some of our destinations.

About Us
Hotel Classification We have chosen to include star ratings for each property. Please note that in the event of an official rating not being available, we have been obliged to use the hotel’s own rating. It is very important to note that this is not an exact science and standards can vary quite dramatically from one geographic area to another. Nevertheless we do believe that it will serve as a useful indicator.
What’s New...? The United States of America for a start! For sixteen years If Only… has only ventured east. However, in order to cater for a growing demand from our clients, we are now venturing west, with the USA being our first port of call. Having successfully operated in Arabia, the Indian Ocean, Asia and Australasia we are now adopting the exact same formula to bring you the USA. Our Product Department has been hard at work sourcing the best hotels in each region; encompassing top end luxury 5* deluxe hotels and stunning 4 star offerings with the occasional 3 star superior gem thrown in. Additionally, we have enclosed some sample touring itineraries which encompass the very best that the USA has to offer. Touring itineraries are tailor made to suit each individual client’s requirements, providing complete flexibility. As always the accent is on offering great locations, superb accommodation, attentive service and fantastic value for money. From an operational point of view we have expanded our reservations, product and aftersales departments, ensuring that clients benefit from the very best advice and experience both pre and post booking. In addition, we have recently invested in a new back and front end computer system which enables us to tailor make holidays more quickly, accurately and with the most competitive pricing. It also allows us to provide more professional documentation. Finally, look out for even more new destinations coming soon.
Our Other Destinations In addition to this USA offering, If Only… has also produced three stunning sister brochures exclusively dedicated to Arabia & The Indian Ocean, Asia and Australia, New Zealand & The Pacific Islands. The portfolio includes a host of mouth-watering hotels and resorts, all very carefully chosen with our discerning clientele in mind.
Our Asia brochure features the following destinations; India, Nepal, Bhutan, Laos, Myanmar (Burma), Thailand, Malaysia, Borneo, Vietnam, Cambodia and Indonesia. The brochure showcases the best of each destination and includes train journeys in India and aboard the world-famous Eastern & Orient Express as well as luxury river cruises in Indochina. Asia, a cornucopia of sights, tastes and aromas is a veritable melting pot of cultures, scenery, attractions and sensations. Experience sumptuously luxurious palaces or an understated boutique heritage property. Take in a private guided tour or just laze by the shimmering sea.
Dubai has something to offer everyone. Having fantastic shopping, amazing beaches, a multitude of activities and attractions as well as stunning desert escapes, it really is a must-visit destination. Other Arabian delights featured in our portfolio include cultural Oman and the ever-developing capital of the UAE, Abu Dhabi.
Our Australia, New Zealand & The Pacific Islands brochure features a wide range of accommodation and touring options for everyone from the first time visitor to those who have travelled to the area regularly. There are city hotels, remote luxury lodges and private island retreats. Enjoy taking in the ‘must see’ highlights or getting off the beaten track in this diverse region. There are campervan itinerary suggestions, heli-hiking options, fascinating rail journeys and cruises around some stunning lagoons.
If you prefer seascapes to cityscapes, then the Indian Ocean awaits you. Mauritius offers renowned service levels, fantastic beaches and a welcoming tropical climate. The seclusion, powdery white sands and sparkling aquamarine ocean of the Maldives islands is difficult to resist, while the spectacularly scenic Seychelles offer the perfect island hopping experience. By way of contrast is cultural Sri Lanka, with diverse landscapes ranging from cascading paddy fields to towns rich with heritage as well as a fair share of stunning beaches.
Be inspired by these intoxicating, diverse continents.

The USA
The USA Experience The USA is the world's third largest country with a population of over 323 million people. It occupies an area of over 3.6 million square miles and is consistently amongst the top three most visited destinations in the world with around 75 million visitors annually. The continental USA stretches over 2,500 miles from east to west with the state of Hawaii lying a further 2,300 miles southwest of California in the heart of the Pacific Ocean. Over 2,200 miles separate the Canadian border in the north from the border with Mexico in the south. Six time zones cover the 48 contiguous and 2 outlying states. When it's midday in Manhattan it's 6am in Honolulu. Few countries can match the USA for sheer physical and topographical beauty, diversity and abundance of natural resource. Deserts, canyons and savannas, mountains and glaciers, temperate and tropical rainforests, great lakes and long winding rivers occupy a vast terrain blessed with natures finest attributes.
The USA is home to some of the world's most iconic brands and images, all instantly recognisable internationally, all equally aspirational and often imitated. People, products, pastimes and places including Walt Disney, Muhammad Ali and Elvis Presley, Chevrolet, Coca-Cola and Apple, baseball, American football and basketball, New York, Chicago, New Orleans and Los Angeles - all form an inherant part of the 'Great American' dream. Every American state has its fair share of common denominators, and each also comes with its own unique individuality, culture and practice in equal measure. However, whether it be New Orleans' 'Cajun' culture, New York City's urban landscape, Hawaii's tropical island allure or Hollywood's glitz and razzmatazz, the USA as a whole is certainly greater than the sum of its individual parts. A fact that makes a visit to this wonderful and intriguing country such an alluring and appealing prospect.

The continental USA experiences a huge variance of weather patterns dependent upon location. In the northeast, rainfall is generally low with very cold, snowy winters and hot, humid summers. The autumn (fall) is an ideal time to visit the northeast to witness the dramatic and spectacular 'fall foliage'. The state of Florida experiences warm to hot summers with high humidity and temperate, warm winters. Similar conditions prevail in Louisiana. Hurricanes can be a threat in the Gulf of Mexico region between the months of August and early October. The Great Lakes region, the Chicago area in particular, is prone to severely cold, subzero temperatures during the winter months with warm to hot summer months. The southwest, including Nevada and Arizona experiences temperatures in excess of 38ยบ celsius (100 ยบ fahrenheit) during the summer with a dry, desert heat whilst winters can be cool to mild. The weather in the Pacific Northwest is similar to that in the UK, with winter being the wettest season. Summers are pleasant and warm with hot weather more frequent inland, over the continental divide. California is typically pleasant and sunny year round but with a marked difference between the temperate north, around San Francisco, and the hotter more arid south, including Los Angeles and San Diego. Inland temperatures can soar, particularly in the desert regions such as Death Valley. Winters vary from pleasantly warm in the south to cool in the north, becoming much colder and snowy inland, particularly in the higher terrain around Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National Park. Our coverage of the USA, within the confines of these pages at least, is not by any means all-encompassing although we do feature the country's most popular visitor destinations in as comprehensive and informative a manner as possible, which we hope you will find both useful and engaging. Brochure contents apart, we can of course, assist with all aspects of travel to and within the USA, wherever and whatever the extent and nature of the requirement. Ask our detinations experts for details of our many day tours and excursions.

A glimpse of New York City When it comes to to describing New York City all superlatives apply. New York is the USA's largest city, with a population of over 8 million people; a cosmopolitan melting pot of over 200 nationalities; a city that truly never sleeps with more restaurants, cafĂŠs, bars, nightspots, museums and iconic sights per square mile than any other city in the USA, if not the world. Welcome to 'The Big Apple'! New York is a city like no other. The soaring skyline is simply stunning and only Chicago can claim to be its equal. The city is made up of 5 boroughs - The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island - with Manhattan, the smallest and most densely populated, at its epicentre.

Neighbourhoods are the heart beat of New York City. Distinct areas, each with their own personality, ethnicity, customs and independent traditions from which the city derives its own unique character. Manhattan alone is home to many of New York's most prominent neighbourhoods including Chelsea, Chinatown, Harlem, SoHo, TriBeCa, Gramercy, Hell's Kitchen, Greenwich Village, Times Square and Little Italy. This is the stuff of legends, a long list of iconic names and places that conjure up visions of the distant and not so distant past. The roaring 20's, tin pan alley, ticker tape parades, Broadway theatre, the Wall Street Crash and Ground Zero are all testaments as to why New York is so special, unique, resolute and timeless. Amidst the network of boroughs and neighbourhoods lies a vast array of urban landmarks that every visitor to New York should do their utmost to include on their 'must-see' list. Here are just a few of the many choices available: The Metropolitan Museum of Art - 2 million works spanning 5,000 years of history; Times Square - neon overload and the city at its most frenetic; the Empire State Building - a New York icon with spectacular views from the 102nd floor; The Statue of Liberty - the first glimpse of the New World for many and equally inspiring to visitors today; Central Park - 800 acres of urban detox and the lungs of New York; The High Line - a former rail track transformed into an elevated 'walking park' with skyline and river views; Washington Square Park - a tranquil setting complete with memorial arch, a circular fountain and children's playgrounds, right in the heart of Greenwich Village; Grand Central Terminal - the world's largest and the USA's busiest railway station with over 700,000 commuters daily; the 9/11 Memorial - a poignant and solemn reminder of the attrocities that took place on 11 September 2001, and a memorial to the many people who lost their lives during the terror attacks on New York, Pennsylvania and the Pentagon. A glimpse of Boston Steeped in historic charm and architectural splendour, Boston is the most European of all American cities. Established in 1630 by the first Puritan settlers from England, Boston is amongst the oldest cities in the USA and one which played an important part in the establishment of the United States of America. Crown intervention and the imposition of trade restrictions and levies on the newly established colony in 1770 led to a series of local rebellions, including the infamous Boston Tea Party, which sealed the march towards eventual war with the British and the declaration of independence in 1776. Numerous reminders of those early years still exist in Boston today, located within its web of streets and alleyways, which have more in common with an old English country town than with most other US cities. The Downtown district is the heart of commerce in Boston where modern buildings stand side by side with many older, historic structures such as Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market. The North End neighbourhood is home to Boston's Little Italy and oozes Old World character. The famous 'Freedom Trail' winds through its cobbled stone streets with visions of the past ever-present in the shape of Old North Church and Paul Revere house amongst others. Boston's Chinatown, the third largest in the USA, lies south of Downtown with many of its shops, restaurants and storefronts housed in historic buildings.
The Beacon Hill district, to the west of Downtown, is Old World Boston at its most seductive. Stately brick-built town houses line the narrow cobblestone streets, illuminated by ancient gas lamps during the evening and resplendent with colour from the flower boxes which adorn the buildings during warm summer days - the area is simply enchanting. Boston is as much about progress and innovation as it is about history. Evidence of its ambition, influence and drive are present in neighbourhoods such as Back Bay, replete with stylish mansions, attractive cafĂŠs, galleries and shops. It is also visable in the Fenway-Kenmore district, home to the Boston University campus, to buzzing Kenmore Square and to Fenway Park baseball stadium, the oldest in the country. The Bunker Hill monument in Charlestown provides the best views in Boston. It is located to the north of the city, set on a small peninsular immediately across the Charles River from the North End district and is the last stop on the 'Freedom Trail'. The monument marks the site of the turning point in the fight for independence. The 294 step climb to the top provides just reward for those making the effort to ascend, offering panoramic views over the city and surrounds. To the west of Charlestown is the city of Cambridge, a centre of learning and home to Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Easily accessible from central Boston, Cambridge boasts many historic sites and attractions. The area adjacent to Harvard Square and Central Square is the focal point for socialising with bars, restaurants and nightlife to rival that of its neighbour across the river. A glimpse of Chicago ... Chicago is the largest city in the American midwest and the third largest in the USA after New York and Los Angeles. As far as the weather goes, the transition from winter to summer can happen almost overnight in Chicago. However, when the sun does return and the clear, warm days reappear, the populace move outside en masse. Chicago's many fine parks, the dynamic lakeshore, Navy Pier and Lake Michigan itself, often frozen over during the sub-zero mid-winter months, are amongst the most popular spots.

In spite of the city's large sprawling land area, the centre of Chicago is relatively compact. A glimpse of Orlando It's hard to believe that as recently as the 1940s one of the most significant things about Orlando was its importance as a centre for growing oranges. The opening of Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom® in 1971 changed that for ever. Today Orlando justifiably wears the crown of Theme Park Capital of the World, and, with over 60 million visitors annually, it also holds the accolade of being the USA's most visited tourist destination. Theme park development continued apace following the opening of Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom® with Disney's Hollywood Studios, SeaWorld® Orlando, including Aquatica Orlando, Walt Disney's Discovery Island (now part of Walt Disney's Animal Kingdom®), Wet 'n Wild (later closed and replaced by Universal's Volcano Bay® - Water Theme Park) and Disney's Epcot® all arriving during the ensuing decade. Other popular attractions including Universal Orlando Resort™, Universal's Island of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida, Disney's Animal Kingdom® and LEGOLAND® Florida Resort all followed later. Orlando's theme parks are all located within easy reach of one another with LEGOLAND® being the furthest afield at 47 miles from Orlando. Fun-filled magic, mind-boggling illusion and pure escapism dominate the proceedings, with a myriad of thrill rides, cleverly choreographed shows and endless entertainment on offer for adults and children of all ages. All conveniently served up for unparalelled and uninhibited enjoyment, set within a series of purpose built, state-of-the-art complexes. Each affords the most innovative and creative attention to detail, bestowing reality and credence on and to the many fairy tales, super heroes, vagabonds, princesses and technicolour fantasies that the endless stream of visitors enjoy in their thousands.

A glimpse of Miami & Florida's Beach Resorts Known as 'the Magic City', with it seemingly having appeared from nowhere, Miami's meteoric rise dates back to the turn of the century. It's growth and success, achieved against the odds at times, has culminated in the modern, vibrant and glamorous city that we see today.
Tallahassee
Orlando
Miami is located towards the south-eastern tip of Florida, facing the Atlantic Ocean to the east and backed by the Florida Everglades to the west. The city has been a centre for immigration with Jewish hotel developers and the large LatinAmerican and Cuban populations having influenced Miami's modern, sophisticated character, driven by its contemporary arts and a newly established cultural renaissance. The city and its dynamic and eclectic neighbourhoods, Downtown, Wynwood, Little Haiti and the Design District amongst them, is worthy of more than a cursory glance, but the principal attractions are its beaches, Miami Beach and South Beach in particular. Both sit offshore from the city on what is effectively an island, separated from the mainland by the intra-coastal waterway (Stranahan River) and Biscayne Bay and fronted by Collins Avenue which runs along its entire length. Central Miami Beach stretches from 78th Street in the north to 21st Street in the south. An elevated walkway faces the beach extending south from 48th Street to 21st Street. It is popular with skaters and joggers and is overlooked by Miami's classic hotels and resorts. Further south, just off Washington Avenue, lies the art-deco dominated South Beach district. Palm tree lined Lummus Park, which faces the beach, and the area between Collins Avenue and Ocean Drive lie at the heart of things here with art-deco hotels, stylish restaurants and chic nightspots lining the streets. To the north of Miami lies the resort town of Fort Lauderdale. Once the favoured hang out for exhuberant and libatious spring break college students, a greater element of sobriety and maturity is in evidence these days, although outdoor restaurants, boutiques and watering holes exist in abundance for those in search of the same. The main attraction is the Fort Lauderdale coast, with its port and its beach areas in particular amongst Florida's finest, set amongst a series of almost Venice-like inland waterways and channels with Las Olas Boulevard its umbilical chord. Over on Florida's west coast, the Gulf of Mexico influence kicks in with the Tampa Bay area at the centre of it all. Sarasota, Clearwater Beach and St Pete Beach all lie within its periphery and along with the nearby Barrier, Sanibel and Captiva Islands they account for the region's main tourist destinations, hotels and resorts, all of which offer a viable and rewarding alternative to their east coast rivals.

A glimpse of The South Louisiana overlooks the Gulf of Mexico, on the edge of the Deep South region. Tennessee sits on the region's northernmost point, with Texas, the second largest state in the union, sharing Louisiana's western boundary. Whilst distinctly different in so many ways they all share similar traditions, customs and sensibilities with unrivalled geniality, infectious music and a distinct style of cuisine all in the ascendancy. Louisiana's largest city, New Orleans, is known as 'The Big Easy', and for good reason - 'let the good times roll' is the local mantra and is part of the psyche. New Orleans is a true cultural melting pot, drawing on influences from Spanish, French, African, Cajun and Anglo-American colonisers, rulers and settlers. The celebration of Mardi Gras is an embodiment of this process as are the historic buildings of the French Quarter and the mansions and parks of The Garden and Audubon districts. African influence is evident in the cuisine and in religious practices such as voodoo, but nowehere more so than in the music. New Orleans is the birthplace of jazz, a synergy of African and European styles, steeped in complex rhythms and spiritual intensity. The French founders also left their mark on the music, architecture, faith and language. Names such as Bourbon, Presbytère, Mardi Gras and Vieux CarrÊ are a lasting testament to their legacy. French-speaking settlers from Nova Scotia brought Cajun music to the area with its leanings towards country and old French music hall traditions. The songs are sung in a strong patois dialect. Distinctly different from Cajun, Zydeco music has a degree of commonality through the use of the accordion, but its origins are in Louisiana's African Creole population. Zydeco offers a style based on blues and rhythm and blues. Whatever the style or origin, music is central to Louisiana, to New Orleans and to its population.
Memphis sits on the eastern bank of the Mississippi River, otherwise known as 'the Big Muddy'. The city is akin to a place of worship, with music lovers the world over beating a path to its door in search of the ghosts of rock and roll past. Beale Street is at the centre of everything in downtown Memphis, a 24-hour showground of music clubs, bars and theatres. Around six miles to the south lies Graceland, a place of homage to the city's most famous son, Elvis Presley, who lived and died here. Texas is a vast state covering almost 270,000 square miles. It spans 773 miles from east to west at its widest point, separating the Deep South from the Frontier West. The Texas border with Mexico covers over 1,200 of the 1,998 miles that divide the USA from its southern neighbour. Interstate-35, which runs north to south from Minnesota to Laredo on the border with Mexico, links four of the most visited cities in Texas - the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex, Austin and San Antonio. Dallas was placed firmly on the tourist map by the popular 80's TV series of the same name. It is also familiar to many for the assasination of former US President John F. Kennedy in 1963. The Sixth Floor Museum in Dealey Plaza commemorates the fateful day, one of many unique sights and attractions that grace this modern, dynamic city. Forever synonymous with cowboys, oil wells and BBQ steaks, Dallas doesn't disappoint. Entertainment and dining choices are excellent as are shopping opportunities, with more stores per head of population than any other US city. If true cowboys are what you seek then look no further than neighbouring Fort Worth. The city's Stockyards National Historic District is a faithful recreation of the Wild West and a living museum. Attractions are many and varied and help to conjure up an image of times gone by. The Stockyards Museum, the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame and the Texas Trail of Fame are all highly recommended. On Fridays and Saturdays a Rodeo is staged in the Cowtown Coliseum.
In common with New Orleans, the Tennessee cities of Nashville and Memphis share a strong and vibrant musical heritage. Country music rules the roost in the case of Nashville with the Grand Ole Opry at its epicentre. Rock and roll, gospel and the blues are predominant in Memphis, home to Elvis Presley's Graceland, Sun Studios and the bright lights of Beale Street. Downtown Nashville is awash with tributes to country music. Here you'll find the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Ryman Auditorium, the Johnny Cash Museum and Nashville Music City Centre, but not the Grand Ole Opry. It was originally housed in the Ryman Auditorium until 1974 when it was moved out to Music Valley, about 8 miles from the city. The Willie Nelson Museum is also located in the same area.

200 miles south of Dallas lies the city of Austin, the state capital of Texas. The city borders the dramatic Texas Hill Country, blessed with colourful meadows and valleys, stunning scenery, refreshing springs and hidden waterfalls. Austin's Capitol building occupies a prominent position in the city centre. Built from pink granite it is the second largest capitol building in the US after Washington, DC. The view from the top overlooks the city and surrounds. Live music is a tradition in Austin with several concerts taking place during the week at the city's many atmospheric venues. The city of San Antonio lies another 60 or so miles further south. It is one of the USA's most charismatic and unique destinations, with historic missions, museums and reminders of the Hispanic culture, harking back to the time of Davy Crockett and the founding of the Texas Republic. The heart of San Antonio is dominated by the festive and colourful 'Paseo del Rio' or River Walk. Set 20 feet below street level the walkway follows both banks of the San Antonio river as it loops its way through the city centre. The River Walk is a focal point for entertainment and enjoyment, populated by a succesion of bars, restaurants, boutiques, shops and hotels. The symbol which represents the soul of San Antonio and its most famous landmark is the former Spanish mission known as 'The Alamo'. It was here in 1836 that a major battle was fought out between the Mexican Army and a group of soldiers known as Texians. 'The Alamo' now stands as a memorial to the conflict and to those that perished there. It has become the most visited historic monument in Texas. A glimpse of Las Vegas Las Vegas is known as 'the entertainment capital of the world'. A self-proclaimed moniker maybe, with which Hollywood and New York City may seek to differ on occasions, but when it comes to the theory and practice of 24/7 revelling, the following of hedonistic pursuits and sheer over-indulgence, Las Vegas wins hands down. Las Vegas lies at the southern edge of Nevada, the driest state in the USA, except when it comes to drinking. Libertarian licensing laws allow for the sale of alcohol 24-hours a day. The city has more hotel rooms than anywhere else in the world, generally inexpensive with midweek stays less costly than weekends. Parking is free in Las Vegas, although a car is not required unless travelling further afield. Taxis, buses and the monorail system are cost effective means of transportation around the city, although walking works for most people. As the saying goes, 'what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas', and as far as money is concerned that's about right. With high and low-rolling casinos present in abundance, Las Vegas is synonymous with gambling - dating back to mobster Bugsy Siegel's day and the opening of the Flamingo in 1946. With no clocks on the walls, constant, cool fresh air pumped in and free drinks and bites on call as long as you're spending, come win or lose the casino remains a compelling option for many. Alternatively, attractions, distractions and worldly pleasures await those with other leanings. Dining, entertainment, musicals and celebrated Cirque de Soleil shows all figure large in Vegas. The infamous 'Strip', stretching for around 4 miles from Circus Circus in the north to Mandalay Bay in the south, is awash with free shows such as The Mirage's erupting volcano and the Bellagio's famous fountains. Further north in the compact downtown district, in the area centred around Fremont Street, the spirit of a Las Vegas past lives on, with the emphasis on all things retro. The highlight event here is the Fremont Street Experience, with Viva Vision sound and light shows, Slotzilla ziplining and, on occasion, high profile free concerts. Events are staged every evening within a 5 block entertainment district closed to traffic. When it comes to dining out in Las Vegas the choices are almost infinite. More venues baring the names of celebrity chefs exist in Las Vegas than anywhere else of the same size in the world. Vegas provides everything from the ultimate in gourmet pleasure to fitting repast at that most celebrated of Las Vegas culinary institutions, the buffet, of which there are hundreds to choose from. Not all buffets are created equal however, and research prior to indulgence is a wise move. Those within the more prominent locations are often the best bet with the majority representing excellent value for money.
Shopping in Las Vegas is a serious pastime and the only sure way to guarantee that you leave with what you paid for. Luxury items take centre stage at Crystals and Via Bellagio with Ferrari and Maserati sports cars available for direct sale at The Wynn showroom. More modest outlay is required at Fashion Show Mall, located at the north end of the Strip, and at the Miracle Mile shops at Planet Hollywood or Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian. For something different and somewhat eclectic, the Downtown Container Park, located just off the strip, offers boutique stores, galleries and affordable eateries galore, as well as play areas for the children. Las Vegas is an ideal base from which to explore nearby iconic sights such as Red Rock Canyon, Lake Mead, the Hoover Dam and Lake Tahoe, set amongst horned peaks and mountain pines. The Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona is the biggest draw of them all and a must see for most. Ask our destination experts for details of our many day tours and excursions. A glimpse of The Pacific Northwest - Seattle & Portland The Pacific Northwest region is made up of the American states of Washington and Oregon along with the Canadian Province of British Columbia. Our focus here is on Washington and Oregon and the cities of Seattle and Portland. Bounded by the Pacific Ocean to the west and the state of Idaho and the Rockies to the east, Washington is dominated by majestic mountain landscapes and vast tracts of untamed wilderness. Ancient, temperate rainforest occupies Washington's northern coastal peninsula in Olympic National Park. The magical San Juan islands lie offshore at the foot of Vancouver Island, hugging the border with Canada. To the immediate east sit the mighty North Cascades, a range of virtually impenetrable high peaks with the 10,781 foot high Mt Baker at their heart.
The southern reaches of the Colombia River mark the border between Washington and Oregon. The city of Portland, the largest in the state, is set on the banks of the river facing its twin city and suburb, Vancouver, on the Washington side. Portland is considered by many to be the ideal place to live. Compact, liberal, cosmopolitan, vibrant and eclectic, with no sales tax, the cost of living is the lowest in the USA. It's also a beer lover's paradise with more breweries per capita than any city in the world and a choice of bars and beer festivals to match. Neither will you go hungry in Portland with almost every conceivable international cuisine on offer. The city prides itself on its choice and style of restaurants and on its famous 'food carts'. These convenient and highly affordable mobile diners are a Portland tradition found in locations all over the city. Bellingham
The more easily accessible South Cascades range lies further to the southwest, extending down to the border with Oregon. The dramatic peak of Mt Rainier is located here, its snowcapped summit rising from the forested surroundings, popular with hikers and climbers. Mt St Helens National Volcanic Monument is located 50 miles to the south, the scene of a massive volcanic explosion that occurred in May 1980, claiming 57 lives and devastating 230 square miles of alpine forest, still under recovery today. To the east the mountains give way to a semi-arid, fertile plateau stretching to the Idaho border.
San Juan Islands
Historic Pioneer Square, located to the south of the downtown district, dates from the late 1800s. Its red brick Romanesque-style buildings house a selection of bars, restaurants, galleries and coffee shops. Seattle's iconic Space Needle is another perennial favourite with views of distant Mt Rainier on show from its summit.

Washington's main areas of population occupy a slim corridor of land located midway between the coastal rainforest and the Cascades, Seattle being the largest. The city's stunning location and youthful exuberance have led to it being recognised as one of the best places in the world to live. Once regarded as a regional outpost, Seattle is now a national megastar, home to international giants such as Starbucks, Microsoft and Boeing. The compact centre and its inner-city neighbourhoods boast a range of compelling sights and attractions. The bustling and eclectic Pike Place Market faces the busy waterfront and is a highlight of any visit. Everything from fishmongers to craft brewers, local food merchants, innovative restauranteurs, artisanal bakers and confectioners are found here. A visit to Pike Place Market is a day out in itself.

Oregon is renowned for its natural wonders, an ideal place in which to enjoy the 'great outdoors' lifestyle. Whilst similar to Washington in many ways Oregon has its own distinct character and allure. The wild and rugged coastline, which winds 363 miles down to the border with California, is the most diverse on the US Pacific coast. Route 101 hugs the shoreline for most of the way, passing through evergreen forests, small townships and countless beaches. Mt Hood National Forest is located at the north end of the Oregon Cascades, just over an hour from Portland. The park is a magnet for followers of outdoor pursuits. Mt Hood, at 11,249 feet in height, dominates the landscape. Summer and winter pastimes include skiing and hiking along with sightseeing. The Oregon interior is divided by a swathe of National Forest which follows the Cascades to Crater Lake National Park at its southern nadir. This beautiful natural phenomenon was formed by a volcanic eruption nearly 8,000 years ago resulting in what is now the deepest lake in the USA. To the east, beyond the mountains and forests, lies a land of deserts, fossil beds, award-winning wine growing regions and dramatic wild river gorges. A glimpse of California - Los Angeles & San Francisco California is arguably the best known and most name-checked state in the union and one which has been tagged with any number of descriptive labels over the years - liberal, youthful, bohemian, dynamic and iconic included. California is amongst the wealthiest of American states with 9 of the 10 richest cities in the USA lying within its borders. It's economy would rank 6th in the world were it a separate country. The nations highest and lowest points are found in California - Mt Whitney at over 14,500 feet and Death Valley at minus 283 feet, the two lying less than 80 miles apart. Its scenic and topographical diversity is startling with high sierra, arid desert, temperate rainforest and sun-drenched beaches all present within the confines of its length and breadth, along with over 840 miles of coastline and 32 National Parks. The terms dynamic and iconic certainly apply to California's famed film industry, as they do to its 60s hippie counterculture, to Silicon Valley and to the rise of the internet. It is also important as a centre for pioneering musical development and for award winning viniculture. Many of California's towns and cities are known the world over, with names such as San Jose, Sacramento, San Diego, and Santa Monica instantly recognisable to most. But no two cities have a greater association with 'The Golden State' than Los Angeles and San Francisco, our primary focus here. The 'City of Angels', 'LA' or 'LA-LA Land', to name but three of its pseudonyms, is the USA's capital of cool. Los Angeles may not be the prettiest city in the world but it never ceases to draw a wide audience. A city of star-spangled boulevards, trend-setting streetlife and one undergoing a constant urban renaissance, Los Angeles is second only to New York City in size and population. LA is the 'automobile lifestyle' personified with mile after mile of freeway bisecting its urban sprawl. The car is a must have for many but a shift towards a car free mentality is increasingly evident. Public transportation in Los Angeles has improved significantly over recent times with DASH, Metro bus, light rail and subway services satisfying the needs of the non-driver, enabling quick and easy travel between LA's main points of interest. Once quiet and deserted after dark, LA's historic Downtown district is enjoying renewed vigour, with Union Station, City Hall and Little Tokyo amongst its many highlights and attractions. Following a much needed makeover, Hollywood is also experiencing a resurgence in visitors whilst nearby West Hollywood, Museum Row, Beverly Hills and scenic Griffiths Park Observatory remain ever popular. LA's iconic beaches and surfing spots line the Pacific shore with Malibu, Santa Monica, Venice, Long Beach, Redondo and Zuma amongst the most popular. They are reachable in around 25-40 minutes from Downtown depending on traffic. 90

Orange County, which lies about 30 miles to the south of downtown Los Angeles, is also known for its superb beaches including Huntington, Newport and Laguna. Its most prominent attraction however, is Disneyland, the original Walt Disney theme park and the self proclaimed 'Happiest Place on Earth', located within the township of Anaheim which has developed around it. The original park, now known as Disneyland Park, opened in 1955 with additional attractions and expansions added over the years, the most recent being Disneyland California Adventure Park in 2001. San Francisco lies a little over 380 miles to the north of Los Angeles, enjoying an enviable setting overlooking the stunningly beautiful San Francisco Bay area. The city itself is amongst the most attractive in the USA, blessed with superb vistas, hills galore, unique features and picturesque locations which would be hard to match anywhere. The Golden Gate Bridge sits at the north end of the city with the redwood covered hills of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and the pleasant township of Sausalito located across the straits opposite. The Oakland Bay Bridge lies further to the east giving way to the city of the same name. The infamous Alcatraz Island sits midway between the two bridges, just offshore from Fisherman's Wharf at the foot of the Powell-Mason cable car turnaround. Downtown San Francisco is a compact, walking city, with a series of distinct neighbourhoods, each with its own identity and allure. Summer temperatures rarely exceed 20ยบ celsius and the famous fog can roll in at a moments notice, but none of this detracts from the city's natural charm and ambience.

A glimpse of Hawaii The state of Hawaii, the USA's 50th, became the most recent addition to the union in 1959. Previously an independent Polynesian Kingdom, it was annexed by the United States in 1898.
O'ahu is the gateway to the Hawaiian Islands and its most popular destination. The rugged tropical interior gives way to iconic surfing beaches on the North Shore with the capital, Honolulu, and the popular Waikiki Beach and Hanauma Bay districts to the south. This densely populated corner is home to most of O'ahu's resort hotels and visitor attractions including the USS Arizona National Memorial at Pearl Harbour, the Chinatown Markets and the nearby Iolani Palace in Honolulu, the latter being the only royal palace in the USA. Diamond Head State Monument and Hanauma Bay Nature Reserve lie further to the east with the popular beach parks of the Windward Coast beyond.
Hawaii is made up of hundreds of islands occupying the volcanic Hawaiian Archipelago in the north central Pacific Ocean, 2,000 miles to the southwest of the US mainland. Of these, just eight islands are prominent - Ni'ihau. Kaua'i, O'ahu, Moloka'i, Lana'i, Kaho'olawe, Maui and the island of Hawai'i. All are open to tourism with the exception of Ni'hau and Kaho'olawe. The islands of O'ahu, Maui, Hawai'i and Kauia'i are our main focus here. Moloka'i and Lana'i are generally quieter and less frequented however each of the islands come with their own individuality and charm. Often described as the 'Real Hawaii' and ever-popular with adventurers and travellers, Moloka'i is the least developed island in the archipelago. With a predominantly native population, Moloka'i is the birthplace of Hula and was once home to a purpose-built leper colony. Lana'i has much in common with Moloka'i in that it is relatively undeveloped and popular with those in search of peace and solitude. It can be difficult to reach by air, the main access being by ferry from nearby Maui. Once home to a thriving pineapple industry, the mostly rural island features only two resort hotels, both with celebrity appeal.

The island of Hawai'i, known as the 'Big Island', is noted for volcanic activity within its interior, dominated by the sub14,000 foot summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, the latter located within the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. 250 miles of beach-lined coast, large areas of tropical rain forest, scenic waterfalls and a thriving coffee industry with many plantations add to Hawai'i's charm. Kaua'i, known as the 'Garden Isle', is an island blessed by nature. The coastline comes with over 50 miles of sandy beaches whilst the wild, verdant interior features canyons, waterfalls and natural gardens with numerous endangered plant species and exotic birdlife unique to the island.
5 NI'IHAU
Maui is Hawaii's second most visited island after O'ahu, attracting a third of arrivals. Wonderfully diverse, Maui has something for everyone, from world-class beach resorts to the ultimate in outdoor adventure. Maui is divided into two distinct parts with the smaller western section separated from the eastern side by a shallow isthmus. It is here that the town of Kahului and the airport are located. The resort areas of Ka'anapali and Kapulua lie on the eastern edge along with the historic town of Lahaina. The picturesque 'Iao Valley State Park occupies the verdant centre. The west is dominated by Haleakala National Park with its breathtaking volcanic summit and massive 7.5 mile wide crater. To the north the scenic 'Road to Hana' winds its way past countless waterfalls, over 54 bridges and through tracts of coastal rainforest.

A glimpse of the US National Parks On the 16th of August 1916 the US National Park Service was born following the signing of an act by President Woodrow Wilson. Over 100 years later the US National Park Service presides over 59 National Parks along with over 400 related areas and sights of natural and historic interest. Yellowstone was the first National Park anywhere in the world to be designated as such in 1872. It sowed the seed for other developments within the USA including Yosemite, Mt Rainier, Wind Cave and Mesa Verde, which in turn gave rise to the creation of the service that exists today. 27 states plus the US territories of American Samoa and the US Virgin Islands have National Parks, in some cases more than one. California has the most with nine followed by Alaska with eight. The largest park is Wrangell-St Elias in Alaska with over 8 million acres whilst the smallest is Hot Springs in Arkansas with less than 6 thousand acres. The most visited is Great Smokey Mountains in Tennessee/North Carolina, with over 11 million visitors annually, followed by Grand Canyon with over 6 million. The legacy of the US National Parks is without equal and their value immeasurable. Access to all US National Parks carries an entrance fee with prices varying according to location. If planning to visit more than two National Parks or federal recreation sites, the 'America The Beautiful' National Parks pass offers significant savings. The pass is valid for one year and covers entrance and standard amenity fees. Also included are day use fees for all occupants of personal use vehicles at areas that charge per vehicle or up to four adults at those which charge per person. Children age 15 or under are admitted free. Our focus here is on five rewarding and easily accessible National Parks, all falling within the range of our overall coverage. We have also included Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, an area of great natural and historic interest which lies within close proximity of several National Parks, monuments and forests within the South West Circle region. YELLOWSTONE - WYOMING Located in northwest Wyoming, Yellowstone is known for its thermal features, over 10,000 of them, including hot springs, mud pots and geysers of which 'Old Faithful' is the best known. Yellowstone is equally noted for its wildlife with 67 species of mammal present including grizzly and brown bear, moose, bison, bighorn sheep and grey wolf. The scenery is diverse and dramatic with the Yellowstone River Canyon, the high altitude Yellowstone Lake and a petrified forest amongst the many natural attractions.
GRAND TETON - WYOMING Located to the south of Yellowstone in Wyoming, Grand Teton National Park forms part of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. The dramatic, sky-scraping peaks of the Teton Range dominate the landscape with Grand Teton the highest of all at over 7,000 feet. The park also has the valley known as Jackson Hole which sits within the shadow of the mountains. The park is a centre for outdoor activities which include mountaineering, hiking, boating, skiing, trout fishing and sightseeing. GRAND CANYON - ARIZONA The Grand Canyon is one of the seven natural wonders of the world and amongst the most popular of National Parks with overseas visitors. Carved out of the rock over the millenia by the Colorado River, which flows through the valley floor a mile below the canyon rim, the canyon offers views from four different directions. The South Rim is the most popular with postcard vistas, perspectives and changing hues, dependant upon the time of day and the changing seasons. YOSEMITE - CALIFORNIA The stunning glacier-carved meadows and iconic peaks, waterfalls and granite monoliths of Yosemite National Park lie at the heart of California's Sierra Nevada mountain range, less than three hours from Sacramento. The park welcomes a steady stream of visitors throughout the year, in search of recreational pursuits and activities such as climbing, hiking and photography. The area is a designated UNESCO World Heritage site and a centre for ornithologists and those with an interest in architectural heritage. DEATH VALLEY - CALIFORNIA Death Valley is the lowest, hottest and driest place in North America with temperatures of over 56ยบ C experienced in 1913, the highest ever recorded on Earth. In spite of the extremes, Death Valley is welcoming of visitors, whether by car, bicycle or on foot. Wildlife, ghost towns, waterfalls, salt flats and dunes all exist here along with several examples of native American culture and history. MONUMENT VALLEY NAVAJO TRIBAL PARK - ARIZONA Monument Valley lies on the border between Utah and Arizona. With soaring sandstone buttes and mesas set against an arid desert terrain, it is forever associated with the old American West and the countless movies which it has inspired. Monument Valley is not a member of the US National Park Service, however, the majority of the area is part of a Navajo Tribal Park for which access fees apply. It is best viewed from a 17 mile long dirt road that winds between the numerous cliffs and mesas. The panoramic landscape is also viewable from several lookout points along Highway 163 which bisects the area. Ask our destination experts for details of our many day tours and excursions.

Essential Holiday Information Accommodation The hotels featured in our brochure and on our website are, in our opinion, the best available, however that does not mean that all of them are right for you. To some ‘luxury’ means a rustic ‘get-away-from-it-all’ retreat, while others expect a glamorous international resort. Taking time to browse our brochure, visit our web site and discuss your particular requirements with our destination specialists will ensure that we can produce your dream holiday. We can also arrange to book accommodation for you that is not featured in our brochure or that perhaps you have selected yourself. While we have absolutely no reason to believe that your selection would not be of a totally acceptable standard, our personal endorsement cannot be provided, nor any assurances or warranties in respect of the standard of facilities or levels of service. When a hotel description states a ‘sea view’ or ‘ocean view’ this may in fact only be a partial or restricted view. In triple rooms, the third bed may be a rollaway extra bed. Many hotels may charge for some of the land and water activities listed. Most rooms in the USA will have one king size bed or two queen beds. Many hotels in America do not offer inter-connecting rooms. Rollaway beds can be provided subject to availability and may incur additional charges. Please note we will facilitate rooming requests but these cannot be guaranteed. As many of our hotels are in a tropical climate, they may attract unwelcome visitors of the insect variety. This is part and parcel of tropical life and rarely indicates a lack of hygiene, however if you do have concerns we recommend that you voice them to the Duty Manager while in resort. Hotels can introduce charges for facilities which have been previously included e.g. Children’s club facilities, baby sitting services etc. Age Restrictions Certain hotels and resorts within the USA require at least one person checking into each room to be 21 years of age or over. Please check your hotel’s website before travel for any age restrictions. Airport Taxes Generally speaking the airport taxes are incorporated in the package price you have paid. Occasionally airports will apply a Departure Tax which requires to be paid in cash before your return flight. Please refer to the ‘Price Pledge / Surcharges’ section in our Booking Conditions which explains when we may have to pass increases in airport taxes on to you. Alcohol and Drugs Restrictive legislation against the carriage of alcohol, prescription medication and other drugs is increasingly common in destinations worldwide. The minimum age requirement to consume or purchase alcohol in the USA is 21 years. ID should be carried at all times as even those who look of age may be asked for identification. To make the most of your trip visit gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice for updated information on the laws governing alcohol, prescription medication, other drugs and restrictions on smoking / electronic cigarettes. Baby Food Visitors are not permitted to take fresh milk or jars of baby food into the USA and will have this confiscated by US Customs. Powdered milk is permitted. Baggage Allowance Luggage allowances and permitted items including electronic devices, vary from airline to airline and we recommend that you check the luggage policy of the airline(s) with which you are flying. Any excess luggage will be charged at the discretion of the airline. Please note that generally speaking, a lower luggage allowance will apply to most internal flights and seaplane transfers. Please be aware that checked baggage charges may apply for internal flights taken within the USA. Car and Motorhome Hire Please make sure you are aware of the full terms and conditions of your rental agreement and insurance coverage. Toll charges will not be included in your hire. There is the option to purchase the use of a toll meter allowing renters to drive through electronic toll express lanes and pay tolls electronically. Full details of your hire and its inclusions are available on our website ifonly.net and in your booking documentation. Please ask our destination experts for further information. Check-in Times It is your responsibility to respect the check-in times specified by the airline on which you are travelling, and to ensure that you arrive at your point of departure in plenty of time. If Only... is unable to accept any liability if you miss your flight as a result of your late check-in or connecting transport being delayed. Christmas, New Year and other Peak Seasons It is commonplace for guests staying in resort hotels over the Christmas, New Year and other Peak Season periods to pay a supplement for compulsory additional services, such as gala dinners. It may also be necessary to pre-book restaurants during peak periods and there may also be a minimum nights’ stay requirement at some hotels, please enquire at time of booking. Some of our resorts also implement more stringent cancellation fees for peak season bookings. Credit Cards At most hotels and resorts across the globe, credit cards are essential as they will be required to guarantee your hotel extras bill when you check-in. Disabled Travellers The enjoyment of your holiday is important to us but we recognise that some of the tours, cruises and holidays we offer may not be suitable for clients with reduced mobility or special requirements, so we strongly recommended that suitability is discussed prior to making your booking. We are happy to provide personal advice on whether a particular tour, cruise
124
Essential Holiday Information
or holiday is suitable for your needs as we understand that each client will have their own specific requirements. To make your arrangements run as smoothly as possible, our airline and other transport partners may require specific details of a health, disability or mobility issue prior to travel. Disney Dining Advance reservations are strongly recommended for Disney Dining Plans. Reservations are mandatory for all dinner shows. Dining reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance by calling 0800 169 0730. Disney Dining must be added to your reservation a minimum of 21 days prior to departure. Guests aged 3-9 years must order from the children’s menu where available. Persons aged 10 years and up cannot order from the children’s menu. Meals for children under 3 years are not covered by meal plans. Dress Code Many of our hotels observe a dress code, particularly for dining in the evening. At time of booking please ask our specialists for information on any applicable dress code policy. As dress code guidance changes frequently, please also check the relevant hotel website nearer to your departure date for the most up to date information. In public places or during particular holidays and festivals, in some of our destinations, conservative dress may be required. Being dressed in a ‘respectful’ manner particularly when visiting temples, churches, shrines and mosques is essential. Please check with our destination experts for advice on clothing that is acceptable in these culturally sensitive locations. Excursions Any excursions booked and paid for in resort are operated by the local handling company. Accordingly, you will be subject to their booking conditions and cancellation charges. Given that If Only… is not party to the provision of these services, refunds cannot be obtained from us at any time, nor can we be held liable for any issue that may arise during such excursions. Flight Delays Adverse weather conditions, air traffic congestion and technical problems may result in flight delays. While the airline may make alternative arrangements to ensure you reach your destination, there will be no compensation for any loss of services or any consequential reduction in the length of your holiday. However, such matters may be the subject of a claim on your insurance policy. For further information see section (10) in our booking conditions. Flight Schedule Changes Regrettably airlines occasionally change their flight schedules. Please note that we cannot be held responsible for any such changes made after the time of booking. Final flight times will be detailed on your travel documentation, please check these times carefully. Government and Health Advice Should you have any concerns regarding travel due to political unrest, potential violence etc. we would recommend that you access the government websites at www.gov.uk. Health It is imperative when travelling to our destinations that you consult your GP or local health clinic before booking your trip and before travelling, to make sure that you have taken all the necessary health precautions. Other sources of information include gov.uk and nathnac.net. As conditions can change quickly, please also check the current health requirements of the destination you are visiting closer to your departure date. Some countries will require additional certification or visas from travellers who may have been in regions of epidemic. You must also, at time of booking, inform If Only... of any pre-existing medical conditions or disability which may affect your holiday. Passengers who have reached 28 weeks in their pregnancy may not be accepted by the majority of airlines without a medical certificate, however conditions vary from airline to airline. If you plan to travel to any of our hotels that are above 3,000 metres and have circulation, heart or respiratory problem then please consult your doctor before booking. Please note that you are strongly advised against scuba diving for 24 hours before travelling by air. Hotel Classification Across the regions of the world that we feature there is no standardised classification and grading of hotels. However we appreciate that a ‘star’ rating is often the first point of reference when considering a resort or hotel for your holiday. Wherever possible we have included the official star rating as provided by that destination’s official tourism authority. If this is not available we have asked our partner hotels to supply us with the star grading that they normally use. This is not a categorisation implemented by If Only… but a reflection of what each hotel or resort promotes its classification/grading to be, so it is important to read carefully the individual hotel descriptions. Our specialists can also help in explaining the services, facilities and standards of each hotel or resort that we feature Loyalty Programmes If requested to do so, we will add hotel and airline loyalty programme membership numbers to your booking where possible, but please note that on some of our specially negotiated rates ‘points’ or ‘miles’ are not always awarded. Maintenance Work In order to maintain high standards, hotel renovation is a continual process, particularly in the low season. In this event, hotel management will ensure that any disturbance to guests is restricted to the absolute minimum. If we have been made aware of any significant renovation programme, we will advise you before travel.
In some of our destinations construction work is commonplace and we will use our best efforts to ensure that you are advised in advance of any intended works within your hotel or in the immediate vicinity. Hotels are not liable for any building works or developments taking place outside their property and gardens, therefore decisions to amend bookings are entirely at the discretion of your hotel. Some works may be unscheduled and therefore we would not be in a position to inform you before departure. Regrettably we cannot accept responsibility for such improvement/building/construction works but if we are of the opinion that this may seriously impair the enjoyment of your holiday we will offer you the opportunity to transfer to an alternative hotel of comparable standard. If the alternative available is at an extra cost, the difference will be payable by you. Should an alternative property of a comparable standard be unavailable, If Only… will give you the option to cancel and you will be given a full refund. Passenger Names and Advance Passenger Information It is mandatory for all airlines operating flights into the USA to obtain Advance Passenger Information at time of booking or well before date of travel. It is essential that the name(s) you provide at the time of booking conform(s) to that on your passport(s). Airlines will not allow any subsequent changes to the spelling of name(s) without a substantial financial penalty. This point of information is particularly relevant to honeymoon couples where the bride decides to change her surname subsequent to the booking having been placed. Replacement passengers are not permitted to take over existing flights booked. Passport information, date(s) of birth, your mobile phone number and emergency contact numbers and redress number (if applicable) are required at time of booking. It is also essential that a mobile phone contact number for the Lead passenger is provided to If Only... at time of booking. Without this information, assistance with weather related cancellations, delays or re-booking cannot be effectively provided by If Only... in accordance with the Package Travel Directive, and no reimbursement shall be made. Passports, Visas and ESTA’s It is solely your responsibility to obtain any passports, visas, health certificates, international driving licences, entry requirements and other travel documents required for your holiday including all stops en route. We do not accept any responsibility or liability if you cannot travel, or incur any other loss because you have not complied with any passport, visa or immigration requirements or any health formalities. See our Booking Conditions (Your Responsibilities Section) for more information. Currently, a valid ten-year British Passport, with a minimum validity of at least six months on the arrival date back in the UK is required for all holidays we feature. All visitors travelling to the USA without a visa must have a biometric passport. Should your passport be in the final year of validity we advise you to thoroughly check the requirements of the country you intend to visit prior to finalising your travel plans. For further detailed information please visit gov.uk/browse/citizenship/passports. Non British citizens must check their passport and visa requirements prior to booking with the Embassy or Consulate of the country they intend to visit.
Room Check-in and Check-out Times Check-in and check-out times may vary from hotel to hotel, please enquire at the time of booking. Some of our hotels will endeavour to accommodate early arrivals or late departures but this is not always possible. If you would like to have access to your room outside normal check-in/check-out times for an additional period or for an extra night, this can be arranged for a supplement at the time booking. Seat Requests Most airlines will not permit you to pre allocate seats until your flight booking is ticketed. Many have introduced charges to pre book regardless of class of travel therefore please refer to the airlines’ website for current information and guidance. Please be aware that pre bookable seat selection is not guaranteed (as per the airlines’ conditions of carriage). Special Requests We will do our utmost to ensure that any special requests or special needs you may have are satisfied, whether they relate to the flight or your hotel. Such requests must be made in writing. However, please appreciate that they are merely ‘requests’ and therefore cannot be guaranteed. Swimming Pools Some resorts, particularly in Las Vegas do not have their pools open all year round. It is common for pools to be closed in Las Vegas hotels between the months of November-March. Please check your hotel’s website before travel to confirm. Pool heating can be pre-paid for in Florida Villas. This is recommended during the months of October-April. Tipping Tipping is expected in most restaurants and bars in the USA. Standard service charges are 15-20% of the total bill. In some places a service charge will automatically be added the bill, especially with parties of six or more; check your bill carefully before leaving any gratuity to avoid duplication. Service providers such as bell boys, valet parking attendants and taxi drivers also expect to receive a tip. Unused Services Refunds are not available for services booked and provided but not utilised. Weather Please refer to the website for relevant weather information for your chosen destination. Adverse weather conditions including hurricanes may be experienced during certain times of the year. These may be more prevalent between the months of August to October. If Only… cannot be held liable for any impairment of your holiday caused by adverse weather conditions.
Under the Visa Waiver Programme, British and Irish passport holders are entitled to an Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) which entitles entry to the US for a duration of up to 90 days. You should apply for your ESTA on the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation website no later than 72 hours prior to travel. Once an ESTA has been approved it is valid for 2 years and can be used for multiple entries into the United States. Please note that under certain circumstances, e.g. if you have a criminal record, then your ESTA application could be rejected, you may have to apply for a visa or your entry into the USA may be completely denied. The current cost of an ESTA is US $14 per application. The name on your airline ticket must exactly match the name on your ESTA. You will be denied boarding if you do not have a valid ESTA. Point of Entry Passengers who have not availed of US. Pre Clearance in either Dublin or Shannon International Airports will have to collect their baggage and clear customs and immigration at their first point of entry into the United States. This is applicable for all visitors whether they have reached their final destination, are connecting domestically or connecting internationally. Prices Please contact our destination experts for pricing on any of your tailor made USA itinerary. Our star rating used throughout the brochure can be used as a general guide on the standard of accommodation shown. Local Festivals and Holidays Experiencing the culture of our destinations can be a highly enriching experience particularly during religious and local festivals. Observance of local customs may be more pronounced at these times and visitors should treat theses traditions with respect. Some destinations may be particularly busy at certain times of year, for example March is Spring Break time when thousands of American students descend on Florida. The USA holiday seasons of Thanksgiving and Christmas are also very busy times to travel, and flights, hotels and excursions may be subject to a premium at these times. Some excursions and tours may be liable to changes or cancellation at short notice due to local holidays or festivals. Advance notice of these changes may not be readily available and if you are affected please contact the local representative or tour provider who may be able to make alternative arrangements. Resort Fees Please be aware that some hotels may charge a local tax or ‘resort fee’. In many cases this is compulsory and will be included in the cost of your holiday. However in some cases it does need to be paid locally. Our Reservations Team will offer all necessary information regarding Resort Fees at the time of booking.
125
Our Booking Conditions 2 PAYMENT TERMS When you make your booking, you must pay a nonrefundable deposit of 10% of your total holiday cost or £200 per person, whichever is the greater. Some services require higher deposits and early balance payments and you will be advised of this at time of booking. This may limit rights of cancellation. Otherwise, the balance of the price of your travel arrangements should be received by us at least ten weeks before your departure date. If the deposit and/or balance is not paid in time we have the right to cancel your travel arrangements. If the balance is not paid in time we shall retain your deposit. If the booking is made within 10 weeks of departure then full payment is required at time of booking. We reserve the right to amend our prices at any time prior to you booking your holiday. 3 PRICE PLEDGE / SURCHARGES Changes in transportation costs, including the cost of fuel; dues, taxes or fees chargeable for services such as landing taxes or fees at airports; and exchange rates mean that the price of your travel arrangements may change after booking. However there will be no price change within 30 days of your departure. Should your holiday price increase, you will not be charged for any amount equivalent to 2% of the price of your holiday. You will only have to pay the amount over and above the 2% of your holiday cost, up to a maximum of 10%. Added to this will be an administration charge of £1 per person together with an amount to cover agents’ commission. If there is an increase of more than 10% of the holiday cost, you will have the option of accepting a change to another holiday, if we are able to offer one, or cancelling and receiving a full refund of all monies paid excluding any amendment charges. Should you decide to cancel for this reason, you must exercise your right to do so within 14 days from the issue date printed on your final invoice. Should the price of your holiday go down due to the changes mentioned above, by more than 2% of your holiday cost, then any refund due will be paid to you. However, please note that travel arrangements are not always purchased in local currency and some apparent changes have no impact on the price of your travel due to contractual and other protection in place. Some governments are known to unilaterally increase the rate of Goods, Service, Tourism, Municipality Bed or Airport Tax with very little notice. In the event that this should occur after your booking has been made, but prior to 30 days before departure, we reserve the right to levy any eligible surcharge against you and will inform you of the reasons for any such increase. If we become aware of a planned surcharge that may affect your holiday price after you have booked, we may contact you to request earlier/interim payment. In some circumstances this request would avoid the necessity of passing these increases onto you. 4 CANCELLATION (BY YOU) Should you choose to cancel your booking then intimation by you or your travel agent must be made to us in writing and the cancellation will be effective from the date of receipt. If the reason for your cancellation is covered under the terms of your insurance policy, you may be able to reclaim these charges. 5 CANCELLATION (BY US) We reserve the right in any circumstances to cancel your travel arrangements. However we will not cancel your travel arrangements less than ten weeks before your departure date, except for reasons of force majeure (see below) or failure by you to pay the final balance Should a duplicate reservation be made on the same airline that is not booked by If Only... but is made by you or your agent, then the booking with If Only... may be subject to cancellation or additional charges if we cannot secure your ticket at the same fare. In such circumstances any funds paid to If Only... will not be refundable. If we are unable to provide the booked travel arrangements, you can either have a refund of all monies paid or accept an offer of alternative travel arrangements of comparable standard from us. If it is necessary to cancel your travel arrangements, compensation will be payable in accordance with the table contained in clause 7 below, except where the cancellation is caused by circumstances amounting to force majeure (see below). 6 AMENDMENTS (BY YOU) If after a confirmation number has been issued, you choose to amend your booking at any time we will endeavour to be of assistance but amendments will not always be possible. A request to amend must be made in writing by the person who made the booking or by your travel agent. If we are able to accept the change, an amendment fee of £50 per person, per change plus any further cost we incur in making this alteration will be charged and payable at time of change. You should be aware that these costs could increase the closer to the departure date, or once travel has commenced, that changes are made and you should contact us as soon as possible.

Booking Conditions
Please read the conditions below before downloading and completing our booking form from ifonly.net. 1 CONTRACT The booking conditions will constitute the contract between If Only… (a trading name of If Only Holidays Limited) - ATOL 4269/ABTA W3086 and all those listed on the booking on whose behalf the party leader is acting. A contract will exist as soon as we have issued a confirmation number. This contract is made on the terms of these booking conditions, which are governed by Scottish Law, and the jurisdiction of the Scottish Courts. You may however, choose the law and jurisdiction of England or Northern Ireland. We reserve the right to alter the prices of any of the holidays shown in our brochure. You will be advised of the current prices of the holiday that you wish to book before your contract is confirmed. Certain travel arrangements may not be changeable after a reservation has been made and any alteration request could incur a cancellation charge of up to 100% of that part of the arrangements. Major amendments such as changing the dates of travel or number of passengers travelling may be treated as a cancellation and re-booking or may involve a recalculation of the holiday cost. 7 AMENDMENTS (BY US) As arrangements are made many months in advance, we have to reserve the right to make changes to brochure and holiday details both before and after you have booked your holiday. Any such changes are likely to be minor and we will advise you or your travel agent at the earliest possible opportunity. A change affecting a stay in a hotel during a tour where the hotel itself is not the focus of the tour, does not constitute a major change. If the change may be deemed to be a major one: e.g. a change to a lower official classification of accommodation than that booked or a departure time alteration of more than twelve hours, we will tell you as soon as possible and you will have three options: (a) accept the changes as notified (b) purchase an alternative If Only… holiday (c) cancel your holiday and receive a full refund of monies paid. In the event of (a), (b), or (c) above, except where change arises due to reason of force majeure, we will pay compensation per paying passenger as follows: No. of days before departure that notification is given to your travel agent

8 INSURANCE It is a condition of booking your holiday that you take out suitable insurance cover at the time of making your reservation. Your insurance must include cover for your total holiday price in the event of cancellation or curtailment as well as the cost of repatriation in the event of accident or illness. It is your responsibility to arrange suitable and adequate travel insurance. 9 SCHEDULED AIRLINES Air transportation is by scheduled services. We reserve the right to substitute alternative airlines or aircraft types. Such alterations do not constitute a significant change to your holiday arrangements and you will not therefore be entitled to cancel or change to another holiday, as a result. In the event of a delay to your flight, your airline is obliged, under the EU Regulation 261/2004 on Denied Boarding, Cancellation and Delay, to offer you appropriate compensation. Further information can be found at abta.com. Further assistance may be available from your insurance policy. Compensation is not due from us in the event of delay caused by circumstances beyond anyone’s control such as strikes, weather and unavoidable breakdown. This brochure is not issued on behalf of, and does not commit the airlines mentioned herein or any airline whose services are used in the course of your travel arrangements. Please note that in accordance with Air Navigation Orders in order to qualify for infant status, a child must be under 2 years of age on the date of its return flight. 10 FORCE MAJEURE We will not pay you compensation if we have to cancel or change your travel arrangements in any way because of unusual or unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control. These can include, for example, war, riot, industrial dispute, terrorist activity and its consequences, natural or nuclear disaster, fire, adverse weather conditions, epidemics and pandemics, unavoidable technical problems with transport. Advice from the government to avoid or leave a particular country may constitute Force Majeure. We will follow the advice given by the Foreign Office in the UK. 11 YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES Any passports, visas, health certificates, International Driving Licences, entry requirements and other travel documents required for your holiday must be obtained by you, whose responsibility it remains to ensure that these are all in order and to meet any additional costs incurred (whether by you or by us on your behalf) as a result of failure to comply with such requirements. You are responsible to arrive at stated departure times and places and any loss or damage which you suffer through failure to do so lies with you. We have no liability whatsoever to you through your failure to do so. In the UK, the Foreign & Commonwealth Advice Unit may have issued information about your holiday destination. You are advised to check this information at gov.uk/browse/abroad. All guests staying with us are expected to conduct themselves in an orderly and acceptable manner and not to disrupt the enjoyment of other guests. We reserve the right at our absolute discretion to terminate without notice and liability the holiday arrangements of any person whose behaviour is such that it is likely, in our opinion, or that of any accommodation owner or manager, airline pilot, or other person in authority, to cause distress, danger, damage or annoyance to other customers, employees, property or to any third party. If any person or persons are prevented from travelling because in the opinion of any person in authority they appear unfit to travel, or are likely to cause discomfort or disturbance to the customers or passengers, our responsibility for the holiday will cease. In all cases full cancellation charges apply and we will be under no obligation whatsoever for any costs incurred. We cannot be held responsible for the actions or behaviour of
any other guests or individuals who have no connection with your booking arrangements with us. It is essential that a mobile phone contact number for the Lead passenger is provided to If Only... at time of booking. Without this information, assistance with weather related cancellations, delays or re-booking cannot be effectively provided by If Only... in accordance with the Package Travel Directive, and no reimbursement shall therefore be made. 12 COMPLAINTS AND ARBITRATION At If Only… we will do everything possible to ensure that you have an enjoyable and trouble-free holiday. However as you will appreciate, there are certain aspects of your holiday which are not within our direct control. In the unlikely event that you have a problem or complaint during your holiday, then please bring it to the attention of the relevant person e.g. airline, representative or hotelier, in order that it may be remedied at the time. Should you not receive satisfaction then please contact our office which is open Mondays to Saturdays from 9.00am – 5.00pm. Should the problem not be resolved, then please bring it to our attention upon your return. Any such complaint must be received by us in writing within 28 days of your return home. If you fail to follow these simple procedures we will have been deprived of the opportunity to investigate and rectify your complaint whilst you were at the destination and this may affect your rights under this contract. It is unlikely that you will have a complaint that cannot be settled amicably between us, however as a Member of ABTA (Membership No.W3086), we are obliged to maintain a high standard of service to you as indicated by ABTA’s Code of Conduct. We can offer you an arbitration scheme for the resolution of disputes arising out of this contract. The scheme is arranged by ABTA and administered independently. It is a simple and inexpensive method of arbitration on documents alone with restricted liability on you for costs. Your request for arbitration must be received by ABTA within eighteen months of the date of return from holiday. For injury and illness claims, you can request the ABTA Mediation Procedure and we have the option to agree to mediation. Further information on the Code and ABTA’s assistance in resolving disputes can be found on abta.com. 13 OUR RESPONSIBILITIES AND LIABILITY TO YOU (1) Subject to these booking conditions, your holiday arrangements will be made using reasonable skill and care. As long as they were acting within the course of their employment or carrying out work we had asked them to do, we will be responsible if our employees or agents fail to make your holiday arrangements using reasonable skill and care. It is your responsibility to show that reasonable skill and care has not been used, in the event of making a claim against us. If we, or our employees or agents fail to make your holiday arrangements using reasonable skill and care, taking into account all relevant factors e.g. following the complaints procedure as described in these conditions and the extent to which our acts or omissions (or those of our employees or agents) affected the overall enjoyment of your holiday, we will pay you reasonable compensation. Our liability, except in cases involving death, injury or illness, shall be limited to a maximum of twice the cost of your travel arrangements. (2) We will not be responsible or pay you any compensation for any injury, illness, death, loss, damage, expense, cost or other claim of any description which results from: a) the act(s) and/or omission(s) of the person(s) affected; b) the act(s) and /or omission(s) of any third party not connected with the provision of the services contracted for and which were unforeseeable or unavoidable; or c) unusual or unforeseeable circumstances beyond our control, the consequences of which could not have been avoided even if all due care had been exercised; or d) an event which either ourselves, our employees, agents, suppliers or subcontractors could not, even with all due care, have foreseen or forestalled. (3) The services and facilities included in your holiday will be deemed to be provided with reasonable skill and care if they comply with any local regulations which apply, or, if there are no applicable regulations, if they are reasonable when compared to the local standards in practice. The fact that services of facilities fail to comply with local or UK guidance or advice shall not of itself mean that that the services or facilities in question have not been provided with reasonable skill and care. These terms are incorporated into this contract (b) Any relevant international convention e.g. The Montreal Convention in respect of travel by air, the Athens Convention in respect of travel by sea, the Berne Convention in respect of travel by rail and the Paris Convention in respect of the provision of accommodation, which limit the amount of compensation that you can claim for death, injury, delay to passengers and loss, damage and delay to luggage. For any excursion or other tour that you book with If Only..., your contract will be with the operator of the excursion or tour and not with If Only…. We are not responsible for the provision of the excursion or tour nor for anything that happens during the course of its provision by the operator. 14 FINANCIAL SECURITY We provide full financial protection for our package holidays. Holidays that include flights are protected by way of our Air Travel Organiser’s Licence number 4269. When you buy an ATOL protected flight or flight inclusive holiday from us you will receive an ATOL Certificate. This lists what is financially protected, where you can get information on what this means for you and who to contact if things go wrong. We will provide you with the services listed on the ATOL Certificate (or a suitable alternative). In some cases, where we aren’t able do so for reasons of insolvency, an alternative ATOL holder may provide you with the services you have bought or a suitable alternative (at no extra cost to you). You agree to accept that in those circumstances the alternative ATOL holder will perform those obligations and you agree to pay any money outstanding to be paid by you under your contract to that alternative ATOL holder. However, you also agree that in some cases it will not be possible to appoint an alternative ATOL holder, in which case you will be entitled to make a claim under the ATOL scheme (or your credit card issuer where applicable). If we are unable to provide the services listed (or a suitable alternative, through an alternative ATOL holder or otherwise) for reasons of insolvency, the Trustees of the Air Travel Trust may make a payment to (or confer a benefit on) you under the ATOL scheme. You agree that in return for such a payment or benefit you assign absolutely to those Trustees any claims which you have or may have arising out of or relating to the non-provision of the services, including any claim against us, the travel agent (or your credit card issuer where applicable). You also agree that any such claims may be re-assigned to another body, if that other body has paid sums you have claimed under the ATOL Scheme. If you book travel arrangements other than a flight or flight package with If Only Holidays, in accordance with ''The Package Travel, Package Tours Regulations 1992'', all passengers are fully insured for the initial deposit, and subsequent balance paid. This policy includes repatriation in the event of cancellation of your travel arrangements resulting from insolvency of If Only Holidays. This insurance has been arranged with Affirma, a trading brand of MGA Cover Services Limited under a binding authority with the insurer CBL Insurance Europe Limited. 15 ABTA We are a member of ABTA, membership number W3086.
