I AM MORE THAN A CITY. I’m an almost 200 year old Midwest town just waiting to sweep you off your feet.
MY INTERESTS
I live next to the Mississippi River, so I'm all about riverside picnics, sunset strolls, and showing off my natural beauty. I'm a foodie at heart and love trying new places, but I'm also down for revisiting my usual stomping grounds. I like to catch live bands, dance the night away, and enjoy outdoor concerts. I've been around since 1833, so I have a lot of history to show you, from my brick-lined streets and historic architecture to iconic landmarks and established neighborhoods. I'm a place where natural wonder meets charming history. I'm made up of adventures within and outside of my city limits. My neighbors in Dubuque,
Jackson, Jones, and Delaware County are pretty cool too if you're into small-town charm and scenic drives. Whether you're into action-packed adventure or just taking in the sights, I'll be sure to steal your heart.

LANDMARKS OF THE PAST
where are they now? FENELON PLACE ELEVATOR: J.K. Graves built the elevator in 1882 because he lived at the top of the bluff but worked at the bottom. Today, the elevator still runs April through November and is a must-see stop. JULIEN DUBUQUE MONUMENT: This 29-foot high, 12-foot-diameter monument was erected in 1897 to mark Julien Dubuque's burial spot. The monument still stands tall in the Mines of Spain.
HISTORIC SHOT TOWER
@JUSTINEWILLIAMS2823
HISTORIC SHOT TOWER: The Shot Tower was constructed in 1856 to produce lead shot by pouring molten lead through a grate, which would would fall to the water below, cooling it into its solid state. Today, the Shot Tower's exterior can be viewed in the Port of Dubuque. 15
