Luggage Transfer Service

Australians need a current passport with at least six months validity from the date of entry. A visa is not required for Australian passport holders for a stay of up to 90 days. Non-Australian passport holders should check their visa requirements with the Japanese Consulate-general or their travel consultant. Japan is 1 hour behind Australian Eastern Standard Time, except during daylight saving me when there is a 2-hour differences.

Japan has a reputaon of being extremely expensive, but this does not have to be the case. If you are looking for a different dining experience, big named restaurants will have prices similar to Australia. If you are unsure about the restaurant, it is also good to find a restaurant with a model of the food and the price displayed outside, that way you know what to expect.

The unit of Japanese currency is the Yen, with four bills, 1,000, 2,000, 5,000 and 10,000, plus coins of smaller denominaon, 1, 5, 10, 50, 100 and 500. You can buy Yen at hotels, banks, and other authorized money exchanges, however it is recommended to change your money prior to travel. Credit cards and debit cards from major issuers are mostly accepted in major cies. However, towns in more remote areas will only accept cash payment. If you are planning to go to other desnaons in Japan aer your snow holiday, a luggage transfer service to the airport may be convenient as you won’t have to carry your ski or snowboard equipment while travelling around. It normally takes 2-3 days to deliver to the airport, depending on where you stay. Some accommodaons can organise a luggage transfer service for you.

Rusutsu is one of Japan’s most popular resorts, all year round. It takes just 90 minutes to travel by bus from Sapporo’s Chitose Internaonal Airport, and one hour from Niseko. Nozawa Onsen is also home to the annual Dosojin Fire Fesval. This famous event revolves around a six-storey woodenshrine that becomes the target of fire-bearing villagers. 42 year old villager males sit the shrine atop a bed of pine branches looking on as the 25 year old local men defend the base bare handed. Tradionally in Japan, these two ages have been considered unlucky and the event is a form of cleansing ritual for them. Eventually, the defenders concede defeat and the shrine is allowed to burn, producing a spectacular fiery display. Tour available from Hakuba.

Airline carriers, tour operators and transfer companies may have policies that restrict the size, number, weight and dimensions of allowable luggage (both carry-on and registered baggage). Some airline carriers, tour operators and transfer companies may charge a baggage fee if you carry luggage that exceeds the restrictions/allowances outlined in each individual policy.

Travel Insurance As travel plans are sometimes affected by influences outside your control, we strongly recommend you seek advice on obtaining insurance prior to travel and to discuss insurance options. We suggest that

A fourteen (14) day cooling off period applies to travel insurance purchased as part of your holiday package. If you cancel the travel insurance component of your holiday package or cancel your entire holiday package prior to the expiry of this cooling-off period, you will receive a refund of your travel insurance premium.

Passports and Visas It is your sole responsibility to ensure that you and your party have valid passports and visas to the destinations of your choice. Visa necessity mostly depends on the nationality. Please be sure to check regarding visas, required passport validity or immigration documents necessary before entering Japan. Travel Japan is not liable for any expenses, liabilities or loss incurred in relation to invalid passports, invalid or restricted visas or any other matters regarding your eligibility for entry into the country of your destination.

Travel Advice We strongly suggest you check relevant government websites to find out about any dangers and risks to your health and safety at your chosen destination before your holiday. For example, you can do this by checking with government agencies like the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Unused Land Service To the extent permitted by law, there will be no refund, credit or exchange for any unused land services once travel has commenced.
