A tourist takes a picture… in Rijmenam

Water trekt me altijd aan (maar ook bergen en andere mooie landschappen). De Dijle in Rijmenam is één van mijn geliefde wandelplekken. De foto is een toonbeeld van eenvoud, maar tegelijk zit er veel in het beeld. Dit zijn niet mijn woorden maar wel een van de uitspraken over mijn foto’s op een tentoonstelling in het dorp. Maar dè conclusie van velen : ‘ik wist niet dat het bij ons zo mooi is’. Kijken door het oog van een ander (al is het fotografisch oog) loont dus. Uiteraard spelen de weersomstandigheden mee, niet alleen bij ’t wandelen zelf, maar ook bij ’t schieten van een mooie foto. Deze is heel eenvoudig gemaakt met mijn Iphone. Net als een aantal andere foto’s op de tentoonstelling gemaakt met de Iphone kan ik ze uitvergroten tot minstens formaat 30 x 40 cm, zo goed is de resolutie van 3,1 MB. De foto is wat bijgekleurd met de gratis app Snapseed. O ja, een tip voor de wat gevorderde amateur : de app Camera + geeft je de mogelijkheid om alle instellingen aan te passen bij het maken van de foto, van sluitersnelheid over ISOwaarde en witbalans tot scherpstelling.

Water always attracts me (but also mountains and other beautiful landscapes). The Dijle in Rijmenam is one of my favorite hiking spots. This picture is a model of simplicity, but at the same time there is much in this picture. These are not my words but one of the comments made on my pictures at an exhibition in the village. It summed up the conclusion of many : ‘I did not realize how nice it is in our place.’ Looking through the eye of another (especially the photographic eye) is so worthwhile. Of course, the weather conditions, not only the walk itself, help to create a great photo opportunity. This is made easy with my Iphone. Like a number of other pictures in the exhibition I can also zoom in on Iphone pictures to at least a size of 20 x 40 cm, so good is the resolution of 3.1 Mb. The photo was also touched up with the free app Snapseed. Oh, and a tip for the more advanced amateur : the app Camera + allows you to adjust all settings when taking a picture, from shutter speed to ISO sensitivity and white balance to focus.
