PLACES TO TICK OFF ACAPULCO, MEXICO Dubbed the ‘Pearl of the Pacific’ during its heyday as a getaway for Hollywood stars, globetrotters and millionaires; Acapulco, still lures visitors with its year round tropical climate, sun-drenched beaches and intoxicating cocktail of scenery, and unique culinary offerings. Acapulco has a stunning topography of soaring cliffs, curling into a series of wide bays and intimate coves, dotted with sandy beaches and jungle-green hills. History buffs shouldn’t miss the famed 17th-century Fort of San Diego and Acapulco Historical Museum, showcasing the historical importance of this nearly 500 year old city. Water sports are prolific not to mention the iconic La Quebrada professional cliff divers leaping off a 35 metre jagged rock face into the surging surf. AQABA, JORDAN Surrounded by mountains and desert landscape albeit a favourite diving and beach resort for Jordanians, Aqaba is situated to the east of the Sinai Peninsula, where the Gulf of Aqaba flows into the Red Sea. Boasting an ideal combination of city-life, beaches and history, Aqaba dates all the way back to 1500BC, built to service as a major hub for exchanging goods. Today mosques, ruins and museums tie the city to its people and history. Apart from its bustling city vibe and some of the best coral reefs in the world - the city’s prime location is close to many famous attractions in Jordan including Wadi Rum, Aqaba Marine Park and gateway to the famous lost city of Petra. CASABLANCA, MOROCCO Located on Morocco’s Atlantic coast, Casablanca is Morocco’s most modern city and busiest port with a population of over 3.5 million. Embracing the European-flavoured urban sophistication that has underpinned life here for the past century - life in Morocco today is all about progress and development. Casablanca is a hotbed of fascinating architecture, with its leafy boulevards lined with ornate colonial-era buildings, from late nouveau and Art Deco to radically modern. Fueled by both locals and visitors, its buzzy restaurant-scene, La Corniche - the city’s waterfront boulevard is lined with umbrella-shaded beach cafés, chic lounges, and ocean-view restaurants. Offering a dream of metropolitan possibilities, Casablanca presents one of the best models of modernism. MAHE, SEYCHELLES Home to 90% of the Seychelles population - Mahé’s west coast, is one long string of stunning beaches and coves fringing the island, with as much beach hopping as you desire - plus waterfalls, jungle, mountain walks, challenging hiking trails, rock climbing and sea kayaking. It’s also one of the best places for snorkelling or scuba diving. The Seychellois people exhibit a true melting pot of different races and cultures; originally settled in the 18th century by Europeans today’s vibrant population is characterized by their friendly nature and laid-back, happy-go-lucky attitude. Victoria, the capital of Mahé is busier with plenty of restaurants and shops to explore, or perhaps combine a visit to the Botanical Gardens with a potter around the Victoria Market. MUMBAI, INDIA Mumbai is a diverse, vibrant, multi-cultural, modern city teeming with life. It can be confronting, challenging and moving – but it will provide a visit to always remember. Situated on the west coast of India, Mumbai has India’s most prolific film industry, nicknamed “Bollywood”, a huge and chaotic railway and subway system and the largest tropical forest in an urban zone. Visit the Gateway to India and Juhu Beach to see India, old and new, on full display. Mumbai is India’s financial powerhouse, fashion centre and the evolving face of modern India

YOUR BUCKET LIST MUSCAT, OMAN The laid-back city of Muscat thrives on the serene shores of the Gulf of Oman. Known as the ‘Jewel of Arabia’, it is dotted with beautiful beaches, pearl-white buildings, & an extensive desert landscape. With brown rugged mountains on one end & the deep blue sea on the other, it retains an old-world charm with its palaces, ancient forts, mosques, & bustling souks. Muscat is a cosmopolitan city and the hub of economic activity of Oman. The city is famous for its luxurious resorts, fine-dining restaurant and luxury malls. With its busy markets and spectacular landscapes. Though tradition abounds, from distinct, local cuisine to the widely worn national dress, the Omani dishdasha - Muscat has a character quite different from neighbouring capitals. PALMA DE MALLORCA, SPAIN Palma de Mallorca is one of Europe’s major holiday destinations, full of idyllic streets, looming baroque churches, teeming public squares, vibrant bohemian neighbourhoods and markets. A richly studded diadem of historical sites including architectural landmark and designed by Antoni Gaudi - the Catedral de Mallorca; Almudaina Palace and Plaza Mayor. Palma de Mallorca also shelters a seemingly endless array of galleries, restaurants, craft studios and bars – it’s without doubt Mallorca’s greatest treasure. For a great view from above and must-see, visit Bellver Castle, a 700 year old fortress that dominates the skyline of Palma; or wander the streets and enjoy surprise views of a beautiful alleyway or elegant courtyard dating back to the thirteenth century. PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, RUSSIA Anyone coming to experience the magical scenery and rugged beauty of Kamchatka will have to spend some time in the peninsula’s city among volcanoes, Petropavlovsk. Founded in the 1750’s and one of the oldest towns in the Far East, Petropavlovsk’s magnificent setting on Avacha Bay is overlooked by two giant volcanoes, surrounded by what UNESCO describes as “one of the most outstanding volcanic regions in the world.” Wander the streets of this fishing town past a quaint wooden chapel and historic monuments, and stop for a beer at a charming café; or visit the Kamchatka Museum, overlooking the bay, where dioramas of nomadic herders, old cannonballs and other artifacts will take you back in time. PUERTO MONTT, CHILE Puerto Montt, tucked in a corner along the side of a mountain, will make you feel like you have reached a far corner of Bavaria. Puerto Montt was populated by German immigrants who brought with them their architecture, customs and culture. Chile’s gateway to its spectacular lake district has a distinctly alpine feel about it. From here, you’ve the chance to take in the best views of the region’s waterfalls, rivers and lakes, as well as Mt. Osorno with its snowcapped peak. Other highlights include the emerald green waters of Lake Todos Los Santos, more commonly known as Lake Esmeralda and described by Theodore Roosevelt as the most beautiful lake he had ever seen. REYKJAVIK, ICELAND Reykjavik is the capital and largest city of Iceland. With an urban area population of around 200,000, the vast majority of Iceland’s inhabitants live here. It is the centre of culture and life of the Icelandic people as well as being one of the focal points of tourism in Iceland. The city itself is spread out, with suburbs sprawling outwards from the confined city centre. The city centre is a small area characterized by beautiful, colourful houses co-located with good shopping, dining, and drinking. Many breathtaking sights are contained within The Golden Circle – a short trip from the city – including Þingvellir (Thingvellir) National Park, Geysir hot spring area and Gullfoss waterfall. 7
