Celebrating Dr. Richa Singh From Bihar to Bangalore – an incredible journey of grit & determination BY SMITI JAIN NARAYAN
B
orn in a remote village in Bihar, Richa Singh did her schooling in Patna, after which she became the first girl in her extended family to break the mould and journey across the country to join MS Ramaiah medical college in Bangalore in 2003. From then to now, there has been no looking back for her as she evolved from Richa Singh to a leading physiotherapist Dr. Richa Singh with many celebrity clients and several awards under her belt in this incredible journey of courage, hope, dogged determination and the spirit to challenge the status quo and make her mark in the world. Coming from a conservative patriarchal society where women were not expected to harbour any ambitions and dreams outside of home and family, it was a giant leap to step out of the shadows of the prevailing mindsets in the community and larger family to decide on a path of career, that too in faraway Bangalore. But Richa Singh’s passion and courage of conviction, and the support of her own parents in the face of all around criticism, won over all BANGALORE
