oodies in Coimbatore are known to travel long distances, if only to sample the best rasam-rice or biriyani in town. Adding to their sense of adventure is that they don’t have to leave the city to sample the world’s kitchens, be it Mexican, Thai, Chinese, Italian, American or Pan-Asian. But the best food in Kovai is typical south Indian: idlis, dosas, utthappam, rice, sambar, rasam and yoghurt either served on a sparkling stainless steel plate or a banana leaf.
