Welcome to our 2023 Awards Review! I want to extend my congratulations to everyone involved in the awards, from the numerous entrants and highly commended to the winners and the team working behind the scenes to make the Awards the most prestigious and coveted in the onboard hospitality sector. I raise a glass to all of you and your efforts in placing passenger comfort at the forefront of your design endeavours. Congratulations!

From the outset, it was clear to me and the TravelPlus team that entrants had once again surpassed themselves with new, exciting, and creative designs. It made the task of judging and awarding the TravelPlus Golden Seal of passenger approval a tough one!

It’s safe to say that I did not envy our judges this year, given the challenge they faced. However, in earnest, the judges managed to come up with an impressive list of shortlisted and winning entries comprising some of the most trendsetting designs we have seen post-pandemic while remaining committed to maintaining our impartial and fair approach to judging. This is something we are particularly proud of as an awards event.

Congratulations once again, and I hope that those of you who attended our awards evening had a wonderful time celebrating your success with your colleagues.

SKYSUPPLY’S SUSTAINABLE SUB-PILLARS

With an awareness that the industry’s actions of today have a profound impact on the future of our world, skysupply strive to integrate sustainable practices into every aspect of their business. Under this particular pillar are 5 additional sub-pillars focused on sustainability that the supplier aims to fulfill with every one of their collaborations; #renew, #recycle, #reuse, #reimagine and #respect.

#renew

This pillar champions the use of renewable materials. By carefully selecting eco-friendly alternatives, skysupply look to ensure that their products are not only of the highest quality but also minimize their ecological footprint.

From recycled plastics to recyclable products, skysupply are constantly striving to find materials and production methods that reduce waste and conserve natural resources, both in production and recycling.

Giving a second life to products is a growing theme in today’s commercial sector. By creating items that can be used time and time again, skysupply aim to avoid the issue of single-use items that contribute to environmental degradation and encourage their clients to adopt reusable solutions.

Instead of promoting a culture of disposability, the award-winning supplier look at how their products can inspire a sense of value and longevity. With sustainability at the heart of their DNA, these sustainable subpillars are not only integral to skysupply’s product development, but they are also meticulously integrated into the company’s own presentation from their new logo, website and branding to their stand when attending trade shows.

Refraining from any unnecessary use of material and décor, the supplier opts for a minimalist yet playful design that enhances the resources already on offer. By keeping the existing concrete floors of the tradeshow hall they avoid the throwing away of carpets which the majority of suppliers go for. Additionally, skysupply eradicate building walls or dividers and use simple yet effective banners with each one promoting their new branding pillars. With these simple changes, the supplier creates cost-effective ways to reflect their ethos whilst reducing both waste and energy.

It’s apparent that skysupply are determined to leave no stone unturned when it comes to their practices as a company as well as the relationships they continue to nurture and the offerings they proudly develop and produce. Every amenity kit is a result of in-depth research, clear communication, understanding for the brand identity and its message, the guests onboard, their needs and the destination. It’s this attention to detail that has seen skysupply’s partnerships intensify and strengthen over the years with the supplier making a name for themselves by working with airlines such as Condor, Lufthansa, TAP, Swiss Air, Finnair, edelweiss, Turkish Airlines, Emirates, Thai, SAS, and co-branding partners including Porsche Design, Tumi, Marimekko, Van Laack, Windsor, Verso, Benamôr and many more.

LATEST RELEASE

Skysupply’s latest work with TAP AIR continues to uphold their steadfast commitment to reimagining what the future of onboard amenities could look like. Teaming up with iconic Portuguese brand Benamôr, the airline’s new Business Class offering takes to the skies with a truly traditional ‘Portugality’ flair.

Available in four different colors which represent iconic symbols of Portugal and Benamôr, this partnership presents passengers with an authentic amenity kit offering that encapsulates the very essence of Portugal at its finest in both its design aspect and its values. The four different colors include: Laranjinha (orange from Europe) in orange, Nata (traditional Portuguese pastry) in yellow, Gordíssimo (African butter tree pays tribute to Portugal’s Age of Discoveries) in blue, and Alecrim (rosemary, most beloved aromatic herb) in mint.

These color choices encompass TAP’s brand message “Genuinely Portuguese” and its several fundamental aspects such as tradition,

sustainability, exclusivity, a welcoming culture, innovation made in Portugal, and, of course, “Portugality”, which means living the Portuguese lifestyle. Skysupply knew that this, combined with Benamôr’s traditional roots and very modern way of thinking, creates a powerful gift with Benamôr cosmetics to inspire the senses as well as create new memories for passengers from the moment their journey begins.

TAP is proud to say that both the airline and Benamôr represent the same values, quality standards, and visions – for almost 80 and 100 years, respectively. This is reflected in the collaborative elements of the pouch where the two brands cohesively align including the beautiful logo with both company’s name on it. Inside passengers are gifted with a useful selection of items such as earplugs, a toothbrush and a toothpaste, a small Benamôr branded hand lotion, socks, and an eye mask which incorporate Benamôr’s flower patterns.

Since skysupply strives to integrate sustainable practices as much as possible, the supplier was excited to align their values with TAP Portugal’s sustainability ethos. As a result, this new offering is made of recycled plastic bottles and other PET waste (rPET), whilst the toothbrush is made from bamboo and the packaging of the toothpaste as well as the earplugs is made of paper.

This beautiful offering expertly pieced together by skysupply is a true testament to their new concept initiative. Thanks to the supplier’s commitment to innovation, TAP’s new Business Class kit It is not only a material object and a gift, but rather evokes the feeling of “Portugality” and a symbol of a personal experience.

Female passengers receive a Diptyque amenity bag with signature branding consisting of the latest skin and body care products. Adding a touch of elegance and style to their travel experience, the high-quality vegan leather amenity kits and the eye mask and socks, which are made from recycled polyethene terephthalate (rPET), complement Qatar Airways’ sustainability goals.

Passengers will find ‘Eau Rose’ Eau de Toilette – an infusion of the finest damascene and centifolia roses – amongst Diptyque’s classic products including a lip balm, body lotion, and essential face cream, treating Qatar Airways’ customers to the luxury and finesse that Qatar Airways is known for.

Made with quality materials, considered design and sustainability in mind, Air India’s TUMI sleeper suit is made from a blend of 65% recycled materials and blended with 35% cotton for softness and breathability.

Each sleeper suit is made using the equivalent of twentythree 500ml plastic bottles, which will result in over 18 million plastic bottles diverted from landfills annually.

The TUMI sleeper suit for Air India is provided to First Class and Business Class passengers in a functional and reusable cotton blend bag with a contrast TUMI red drawstring.

Someone Somewhere is a Certified B-Corp that works with artisans to combine their craft with goods such as shirts and backpacks. These partnerships pay artisans a fair wage that empowers them to rise above the poverty line and transform their communities.

Delta’s partnership with Someone Somewhere is a foundational example of how corporations can increase diversity in their supply chains and deliver tangible change to communities around the globe.

The two artists have created exclusive designs that will bring a touch of Latin American art and culture to passengers around the world. This program has and will continue to feature a rotation of Latin American artists, each representing different aspects of Latin American culture through their art.

In addition to the stunning artwork, the LATAM amenity kits will feature all-natural, vegan cosmetics from Feito Brasil, a certified B-Corp that is committed to sustainability and social responsibility.

Passengers will be able to indulge in a range of highquality skincare products, including a nourishing hand cream, a hydrating lip balm, and a cleansing facial towelette.

Air Canada signature class amenity kits are created in partnership with iconic Italian brand Acqua di Parma. Inside the kit are luxury Acqua Di Parma bath and body products including, Colonia hand cream and lip balm for inflight hydration, as well as an oversized eye mask, socks, dental kit, cleaning cloth for glasses, and 3M earplugs for additional comfort.

With sustainability in mind, the new line of amenity kits has been purposefully designed to significantly minimise single-use plastics including the elimination of plastic wrap. Wherever possible, paper packaging has been used including the use of 100% FSC paper packaging and soy-based inks. The dental kit also includes a toothbrush made using a cornstarch blend.

Passengers flying in United Polaris® business class receive an amenity kit created in collaboration with travel experts Away, inspired by their thoughtful and modern luggage.

Inspired by Away’s iconic suitcase design, the business class kit is a hard pod design with a sturdy shell, a contrast-colored zipper and interior elastic bands to ensure belongings inside are kept neat and organised.

Inside the kit are travel essentials such as a pair of earbuds and a dental kit, which are both thoughtfully packaged in paper packaging. Also included are non-slip socks, a pen and an eye mask.

The kit also includes skincare brand Sunday Riley’s United-exclusive range of clean, crueltyfree skincare products, including a facial cleansing cloth, face cream, lip balm and hand cream.

China Airlines has launched a new set of amenity kits as part of their continued collaboration with iconic performance apparel brand, The North Face.

Young flyers receive a Cartoon Junction-themed passport holder and a bag featuring an activity book, a set of crayons and a memory card game to keep little hands and minds occupied. The activity book features 14 different games and activities revolving around the various Cartoon Junction characters.
