2024 SHOWCASE

Foreword

“SUSTAINABILITY IS A JOURNEY, NOT A DESTINATION.”

The aviation industry has embarked on a remarkable journey to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, and the onboard amenity industry is rising to the occasion, positively impacting this mission.

Plastic toothbrushes are replaced with eco-friendly bamboo, and single-use plastic packaging has transformed into sustainable kraft paper. Eye masks and socks are crafted from 100% recycled PET fabrics made from plastic bottles. Together, these changes inspire hope for a greener future in air travel!

If you’re looking for some great examples, take a moment to explore this publication! You’ll be amazed by the fantastic designs, creativity, and innovations in this year’s award entries. Plus, you’ll see how much emphasis is placed on sustainability and passenger wellness.

I extend my personal congratulations to everyone involved in the 2024 awards, especially the recipients of the Gold Seal of Passenger Approval which is a testament to your dedication and excellence in the onboard hospitality sector. This prestigious award inspires us all and highlights the remarkable impact of your hard work and commitment.

I’m excited to share our refreshed showcase with you! I hope you have as much fun reading it as we did putting it together.

ENJOY!

Sustainability is in skysupply’s

DNA

Skysupply’s booth at WTCE 2024 featured a unique design that reflected their “less is more” philosophy in creating amenity kits. The booth’s centrepiece was a striking 3-meter-tall face and hand ensemble designed to mimic “blowing a kiss in the air.”

This installation was created by scanning a human model, slicing the resulting 3D model into sections, and plotting each slice from sustainable and recyclable honeycomb cardboard. The result is a visually impactful statement.

The booth was a testament to its dedication to sustainability. The use of less material, the absence of carpet and wooden walls, and the display of a 3D face handmade from cardboard slices all underscored its commitment to sustainable product design. Including high-quality design furniture meant for reuse further emphasized its sustainability efforts.

Renowned street artist Victor Ash created a stunning masterpiece by live-painting an 8 x 5-meter wall at the booth. His artwork captured the essence of Skysupply’s brand and creativity. A “making-of” video shared on social media highlighted the creative energy and effort behind the stand’s design, engaging visitors and followers alike.

Skysupply’s partnership with CleanHub, a Berlin-based startup focused on collecting plastic waste before it reaches the oceans, is a testament to its commitment to environmental responsibility. Rory Dyer, VP of Sales at CleanHub, gave an exclusive presentation on their innovative approach to combating ocean plastic pollution, highlighting the impactful partnership. The sponsorship, aiming to collect 17,000 kg of plastic waste annually, demonstrates their proactive environmental sustainability approach.

The booth showcased a unique approach to stylish and minimal design through artistic collaboration, sustainable materials, and innovative design elements. Skysupply’s commitment to sustainability, creativity, and high-quality design resonated with visitors, reflecting the brand’s dedication to positively impacting the environment and the industry.
