In a continuation of the Fireworks series, Maestro Rhodes celebrates the life and work of Beethoven with his heroic Leonore Overture No. 3 filled with fire and action and the beloved Pastoral Symphony — the very first symphony to depict a story in the form of a visit to the country — conveying a continuous sense of joy and wonder at the beauty in nature. Painter Delbert Michel brings music to life inspired by the sounds of the orchestra with an improvisational visual experience created on the stage before your very eyes. Chamber music and the area’s most talented young pianists round out the program.
For many of his fans, Bob James is to jazz what James Brown is to R&B — the music and the musician go hand in hand. NPR Music
