It isn’t a front-page headline story, and it doesn’t top nightly news reports. It is not discussed at your dinner table. Or in your church service. It doesn’t affect your paycheck. It doesn’t interfere with your life. It doesn’t impact your rights. It hasn’t happened to you or your child. Or your sister. Or nephew. No one texts about it. In fact, no one talks about it at all. So it isn’t important. It probably isn’t a big deal, if it even exists at all. But human trafficking exists. It is very real. And to 300,000 American children who are victimized yearly, it is an extremely big deal. The organized underworld of 21st-century slavery is thriving because an unaware society chooses to turn a blind eye, accepts ignorance towards this reality, and maintains the lie that nothing can be done. We know differently. We know that ONE person and ONE action can create change. We know that each person, and each step, furthers the cause to save every life. Because every life matters. –Restore One
ABOUT
Restore One addresses the social injustice of human trafficking. Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery that is broken into two categories: forced labor and sex trafficking. Labor trafficking is the recruitment, harboring, transportation, provision, or obtaining of a person for labor or services through the use of force, fraud or coercion for the purpose of subjection to involuntary servitude, peonage, debt bondage or slavery. Sex trafficking is a modern-day form of slavery in which a commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion, or in which the person induced to perform such an act is under the age of 18 years. Bringing our focus closer to home, Restore One works diligently to prevent the trafficking of American youth and provide shelter for domestic minor sex trafficked (DMST) and sexually exploited youth. In the United States, human trafficking often goes unrecognized or unmentioned. Many Americans assume human trafficking
happens overseas, in third world countries or in big cities. However, the United States is a thriving hub for traffickers and pimps. The trafficking of American children occurs in every U.S. state, in rural towns and prominent cities. We strongly advocate against sexual exploitation of children and domestic minor sex trafficking, as both are ravenous crimes that exploit thousands of American children within the United States. Domestic minor sex trafficking often appears in the forms of commercial sexual exploitation such as prostitution, pornography and/or erotic entertainment. At Restore One, we recognize child slavery is in our own backyard; the problem is that few of us are aware, and others choose to do nothing.

Restore One was founded June 2012, by a husband and wife team, Chris and Anna Smith. Chris and Anna have a passion to see human trafficking survivors experience the healing freedom found in Jesus Christ and for community members to mobilize against the problem of human trafficking.
The motivation behind Restore One is kindled by Chris and Anna’s passion for Christ’s freedom and redemption. Restore One carries out its anti-human trafficking mission because we believe every life matters. Just as the true redemptive power of Jesus restored our lives, it is our duty to extend Christ’s love and freedom. Our founding verse is Matthew 18:12-14 which summarizes Jesus, The Good Shepherd’s, regard to find and restore the one that is lost. This is our motivation, to be like Jesus and reach out to restore that one who has been trafficked.

PROGRAM / PROJECT SO LOVED Speaking God’s Love At Restore One, we believe each life is precious and valuable. Every year it is estimated that 300,000 American youth are sexually exploited in some shape or fashion, and to Restore One this statistic is alarming. Part of our mission at Restore One is to combat human trafficking and human exploitation through practical prevention. Project So Loved seeks to do just that by educating America’s youth about the reality of human trafficking, teaching on principles of true love, building self-esteem and instilling moral integrity. Our hope and prayer is that we may prevent the trafficking and exploitation of America’s youth. Project So Loved will use gender-specific small group
interventions to educate youth (ages 12–18) who are at-risk of being trafficking victims to the realities of sexual exploitation and DMST. Our goal of Project So Loved is to prevent American youth from becoming trafficked.

PROGRAM / WARRIORS FOR ONE Committed to the Cause At Restore One, we believe that prayer is our strongest and most powerful weapon in the battle to end human trafficking. Prayer and intercession are the backbone of Restore One’s mission to end slavery. The Restore One Prayer team unites believers in combating human trafficking through prayer. The Warriors For One team prays weekly for the Restore One ministry as well as specific issues regarding human trafficking. The Warriors travel to various cities and events within the United States that may potentially see sex trafficking incidents escalate. Once on site, our team combats human trafficking through street activism, group prayer and intercession.

AWARENE & EDUCAT Restore One seeks to create a community that is intolerable to the problem of human trafficking by educating community groups, churches, schools, colleges and professionals. Traffickers and pimps will continue to succeed until community members choose to combat the injustice in their own backyard. Our hope is that through education and awareness we will generate a society that supports the anti-trafficking movement.

In light of January being National Human Trafficking Awareness Month, our most recent campaign was the January Social Media Awareness Campaign. Our awareness campaign included social media interaction, human trafficking documentary screenings, interactive education displays and the Restore One street team’s activities.

IVE Restore One is a ministry that seeks to open shelters that offer faith-based residential recovery programs, free of cost to victims of Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking (DMST) and Commercial Sexual Exploitation (CSE). Currently there are no shelters within the United States designated solely for male DMST and CSE victims. Restore One recognizes the need for shelters designed specifically to serve these boys. By year 2014, our goal is to have opened Anchor House. Anchor House will be our first shelter that provides refuge and restoration to six adolescent boys, ages 12–17.
THE ANCHOR H
The Anchor House is designed to meet the psychological, physical and sociological needs of sex trafficked and sexually exploited boys. At the Anchor House, every boy will be treated as a unique individual through holistic approaches and clinical methods that have proven to nurture healing and restoration.
Through the Anchor House program, our goal is to help these boys not identify themselves as mere survivors, but as victorious overcomers. It is our desire for each boy to experience healing, regain complete freedom and successfully reintegrate into society. Anchor House will be licensed under the State of North Carolina as a Residential Care Facility. The Anchor House’s program will be governed by Restore One Board, advised by Restore One Shelter Advisory Committee, overseen by Restore One Executive Staff and carried out by trained and qualified Anchor House staff. Providing excellence in care is the priority of Restore One Board and Staff. Each is willing to go above and beyond to ensure the Anchor House is an effective and credible program.

Domestic Minor Sex Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children: Domestic Minor Sex trafficking (DMST): DMST occurs when an American child, under the control of a pimp or trafficker, is forced, coerced or tricked into selling his/her body for sexual purposes. DMST victims are often between the ages of 11–17. Their pimp or trafficker collects all of the profits made from selling their bodies for commercial sex acts such as prostitution, pornography, erotic entertainment and more. Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC): is recognized as a criminal act that damages, jeopardizes and/or violates the physical and psychological well-being of children. The most common forms of commercial sexual exploitation are prostitution, pornography and child sex trafficking, but CSEC is not limited to these acts.

Currently there are no shelters within the United States designated to serve boy victims of sex trafficking or commercial sexual exploitation. Boys have been largely overlooked as victims of the sex trade. Our culture has identified males as the perpetrator but has failed to address them as victims.
Studies referenced that many of the boys who attempted to exit the sex trade were discouraged from such efforts due to the absence of programs designed to serve males. A study interviewing sexual exploited males reported that 80% strongly felt there was a grave need for residential programs and support services designed exclusively to address the unique issues facing sex trafficked and sexually exploited males.

/ Wendy has a strong passion and desire to extend hope to those in hopeless situations. After completing her Doctorate in Strategic Leadership at Regent University, she gained professional experience in education and leadership. Wendy is gifted in the areas of professional guidance, instruction, and evaluating. Since 2007, Wendy has been the Exceptional Children’s Preschool Coordinator for Pitt County Schools. In addition to her work with exceptional children, Wendy has experience in grant program evaluation and direction. In addition to her profession as a victim advocate, she owned Paralegal Enterprises, served as President of North Carolina Victim Advocates in Law Enforcement and Co-Founded TEDI Bear Child Advocacy Center. Rosemary’s expertise is in victim assistance and advocacy, grant writing and victim service program evaluation. Rosemary resides in Chocowinity with her husband, Gene. / Jason Lineberger is the Head Pastor of Ignite Church in Greenville NC. Jason planted Ignite two and a half years ago as a new contemporary ministry in Greenville, and God has blessed it tremendously. Every month Ignite ministers to over 1,200 people in the Greenville Community. Jason received his bachelors degree in Psychology from UNC Chapel Hill in 2002 and his Masters of Divinity from Southeastern Seminary in 2005. Before planting Ignite, he was the head pastor of Everetts Baptist Church in Everetts, NC, for six years. Jason has been married to Jessica, his wife, for seven years. They have two children: four-yearold Gabriella, and one-year-old Nathaniel. Chris’s experience in church leadership and youth ministry have well equipped him to lead the Restore One team. Chris first learned of the problem of human trafficking while serving as a youth pastor. Chris wrestled with his role in combating the problem, until God spoke to him about the urgent need for men to step up in the fight against human trafficking. With that message, God commissioned Chris to fully devote his life to fight human trafficking. God has given Chris a passion to empower men to “man up” and actively join the fight against human trafficking. He believes the heart of God is for all enslaved men and women to know and experience the healing freedom found in Christ. After a short stint of domestic human trafficking mission work, God planted the vision for Restore One in Chris’s and Anna’s hearts. Chris finds it a true honor and privilege to serve alongside, his wife, Anna in ministry.
Anna, a Greenville, NC native, graduated from East Carolina’s School of Social Work and Religious Studies. Throughout college she and Chris served as youth pastors, learning valuable ministry and leadership skills. It was during that time, specifically at a local protest walk, that Anna first learned of the problem of human trafficking. She was instantly compelled to take action. In summer of 2010 she interned at a Christian safe house for domestic minor sex trafficking victims. It was there God spoke to Anna the command to fully dedicate her life to fight human trafficking. God has blessed Anna with a strong passion to see human trafficking victims experience the true healing and restoration found in Jesus Christ. Following a short stint of domestic human trafficking mission work, God placed the vision for Restore One on Anna’s and Chris’s hearts. In June 2012, Chris and Anna returned to Greenville, NC, and founded Restore One. Anna is honored and overjoyed to minister alongside her husband, Chris.

For as long as Justine can remember, she has had a heart for allowing women to realize their worth and beauty in Christ. God began to show her His reasoning for that heart when she spent summer of 2012 in Thailand working with prostitutes and trafficking victims. Currently majoring in Communications at East Carolina, she is preparing for a life of full-time ministry wherever God calls her. As a child, Justine told her mother she would grow up to be a missionary in China. Becoming an international missionary is a constant reminder of her childhood dream and a testament of what God is doing in her life. In her spare time, Justine works with Ignite’s College ministry, FUSE. She loves movies, sports and being outdoors. She’s also involved in her Christian sorority, Sigma Alpha Omega, which allows her to minister to a number of young women around her. Being able to work with Restore One allows Justine to pull together all of her passions, put her energy into caring for her community, and show them the love that Jesus has shown her.
While serving as a worship leader throughout high school, the issue of human trafficking came to Stephanie’s attention. The demand for a revolution was something that burned in the back of her mind. Stephanie felt convicted to become a prayer warrior for Restore One after diving into prayer and seeking God’s heart on the issue. After hearing about Restore One, God laid on her heart to become a part of the abolitionist movement to end human trafficking. It was impossible for her to remain idle while knowing that 30 million people are victims of human trafficking. Her calling has brought her to lead people in prayer and intercession for human trafficking and Restore One. TRAVIS BARTLETT CREATIVE DIRECTOR
/ With a flair for visual artistry and a passion for people, Goldsboro, NC native Travis Bartlett serves as the creative director for Restore One. A graphic designer and photographer by trade, Travis has spent the past decade traveling to various countries honing his skills and capturing the many different perspectives of the global society. Through
missions work and a personal dedication to world philanthropy, he has done his part to lend a hand and meet the needs of various communities in Ghana, Kenya, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Germany and Scotland, to name a few.
