Do you love dinner and a show?
Then, you are going to want to make reservations on a Thursday evening for a delicious dining experience at the downtown’s award-winning Armani’s Cucina. Family owned and operated; this authentic, Italian restaurant is fast becoming a favorite for many throughout Indian River County. On Thursday nights, this charming restaurant transforms a bit with a mobile chef station setup predominantly in the main dining room, situated perfectly for allowing diners to see the magic firsthand. On top of the chef station is a massive parmesan cheese wheel with a partially hollowed center. Beside that, are a couple burners for sautéing that week’s featured proteins that are selected to shine in the signature dish. If you haven’t experienced this meal yet, the digital menus give you a short video about how it’s all made while also offering up terrific wine pairing suggestions for the other options and pictures for each item found on their menu. The talented chef was full of smiles each time he flambéed the cheese wheel with all its yummy contents inside, stirring it gently to perfection. During this most recent experience, the parmesan cheese wheel “featured offering” was cream based with crumbled sausage and onions. The pasta was a fun shape with deep curls (fusilli), perfectly cooked al dente, and each bite was better than the first. Rich and creamy, perfectly salted with the right amount of protein to pasta with each bite. Additionally, a pork chop marsala with roasted potatoes and brussel sprouts was ordered at the table as an entrée. It was incredibly flavorful with fresh mozzarella and pancetta in each bite served atop of the large chop and under the seasoned marsala sauce, full of fresh mushrooms. For an appetizer, the asiago bread comes out fresh and hot with oven roasted garlic and fresh olive oil for smearing; so flavorful. As an appetizer on special, the hot cheese balls (blend of gorgonzola, asiago, and mozzarella) served with a bit of Armani’s signature red sauce was the perfect amount for sharing. Rolled in breadcrumbs and fried to perfection, it was a wonderful dish to pair with the Sangiovese by the glass. The overall service from start to finish was equally as impressive. With the parmesan cheese wheel dinners ending at 7:30pm it is important to make a reservation and be sure to get in before it ends. And for the perfect ending, a bit of their homemade limoncello to cleanse the palate, simply sensational experience from the time we made reservations to the bill paying process.
Hours of Operation:
Holding true to Italian restaurants of a by gone era, Armanis’ also offers up other specials throughout the week. Pasta Mondays: 20.95 with salad includes your choice of pasta shape: penne, linguine, or rigatoni with choice of a dozen different sauces ranging from mussels fra diavolo to norma with eggplant and fresh tomatoes with pecorino cheese. Each as delicious and fun to experiment with as the next. Not only do they do a variety of fresh pasta dishes, it’s also a great place for pizza and stromboli. Open for lunch daily minus Sundays, it’s a great way to bring in good hot food for large teams. Take advantage of their Tuesday special: $12.95 large one topping pizza, pick up only. Plus, Happy Hour in their bar area Monday-Friday from 3-5pm. Beyond dining inside or out Monday through Sunday, they also offer a catering menu for pickup. Sharing from experience, the meatballs are second to none and the house salad with homemade Italian vinaigrette is a real crowd pleaser.
Back in August of 2022, Armanis’ Cucina was also the winner of the first annual Sangarita challenge hosted by the Exchange Club of Vero Beach. The “overall best in show” award went to them as they showcased their Italian margarita, strawberry sangria, and pear with gorgonzola fiocchi; which is available as an appetizer and entrée. Dressed in a creamy alfredo with truffle oil, each bite is salty and sweet while also being delightfully decadent. Armani’s Cucina is also the new home to the Treasure Coast Premier Women’s Network the second Friday of each month; www.tcpremierwomensnetwork.com. Check out their facebook page for current special and events. Call to make your reservation: (772) 907-5774 or pre-order your catering, gift card requests.

EXPLORING THE TREASURE COAST
& BEYOND
Having launched our family’s mission of going down every river in the state of Florida, Mother’s Day of 2020, I am ecstatic to bring these adventures to our readers of Treasure Coast Real Estate and Local Living. Because, no matter the adventures my family and I have with memorable experiences of the towns that host the various rivers, I can say with confidence I would not want to live anywhere else in Florida than the Treasure Coast. The reasons abound as to why calling the Treasure Coast home is so special, yet one of the best reasons is that it is just hours away from most of Florida’s other big cities and outdoor attractions.
Riverroaminwiththetillerys.com
By Anna Valencia TillerySo, to kick off these adventures, let’s start in our own backyard. Located at the most southern end of Martin County, the Jonathan Dickinson State Park is a true gem in our Treasure Coast. One of the reasons the River Roamin’ Tillerys were most excited to visit this park, was to see Trapper Nelson’s Jungle Garden and homestead. After our son, Charlie, completed the epic novel A Land Remembered, we felt it imperative to see a true Florida cracker property up close.
During our travels, we typically stay two nights at our destination. Allowing for setup on the first night and our tradition of grilling hotdogs overtop of a fire for dinner in between exploring the park’s amenities and the second full day and night dedicated to boating and maybe visiting a local business for dinner or lunch if by boat. Because this is a popular park, there are lots of campsites and cabin options available with little advance booking necessary. Though the campsite itself wasn’t

JONATHAN DICKINSON STATE PARKmy favorite because there was little to no shade and all of the spaces were super close together; overall we were happy with our site as we had water views and were pretty close to the bathhouse. It is important to mention, this park did have some cool looking cabins available that had their own area and another campsite designed for rv’s toward the park’s entrance. Good news, the bathhouses were in good shape and there was a nice general store for water craft and bike rentals, snacks, etc. Plus, plenty of good spots for fishing and a playground very close by; ideal when bringing kids or teens.
Our first evening was certainly exciting. The boys accidentally snagged a teenage size gator and had to bring him up to undo the hook; oh the rush! I mean, where does one set her cup down to ensure it’s safe as the gator’s tail slashes about? Good news, he was unhooked quickly and went right back into the water and swam about freely...we all breathed easier after that. Then it was off to Hobe Mountain. Close to the front of the park, easily a couple miles from our lower campground location, it was cooling off and we had the windows down and the boys in back. Once there, we enjoyed the short 10-minute walk up to the top and took in the views of the entire park, the Intercoastal and the Atlantic Ocean; epic!
EXPLORING THE TREASURE COAST & BEYOND
At night, the campground was way cooler than during the day with the glow of everyone’s campfires and different genres of music playing. Though the boys went to bed early, in preparation of a day full of sun and fishing to follow, Michael and I stayed up late enjoying the fresh air, fire and chill music. That night, we all slept incredibly well.
Next morning, we were up and ready to roll by 8:30. It was a perfect time to leave the dock, which was just a 2-minute drive from the campsite. The dock itself is big with lots of room for at least 3 boats. We heard; you can even allow your smaller boats to stay there for the evening if you are going back out early in the morning. There are even steps there that allow for ease of use with the cast net; super sweet setup. So, by 8:45 we were off and enjoying the subtle breeze as we began west on the Loxahatchee River towards Trapper Nelson’s.
Our advice when you think you should be there already to Trapper Nelson’s oasis. Just keep going, follow each river bend with caution and about 1 hour later you will arrive. It was quite the site folks! A metal shack to shield your watercraft from the sun greets you and allows for ease of tying off to explore. Once on the property there are several structures that capture your eye and pulls you in different directions. From the handmade cages where he kept wild animals to showcase as his homestead evolved into a zoo and entertainment destination in the 50’s to his home and vintage jeep; it was impressive to see. To think, someone lived off the land and later went on to make it a profitable business before dying in 1968. Seeing Trapper Nelson’s Jungle Garden and Zoo was a real highlight for all of us.
From there we went back east on the Loxahatchee River, making friends with fellow boaters along the way assuring them that Trapper Nelson’s was still ahead. As we passed the state park, the river changed from wild and roaming to residential and luxurious. Once we got to the intercoastal, the rush of blue water from the Jupiter Inlet changed the color of the water and as we neared the inlet, the water became as blue and clear as the Caribbean. To think a river can take you from fresh and murky to clear and blue in just the span of an hour or two; wow!
While in the Inlet we enjoyed Italian sliders, fresh watermelon and chips while using our floats. The boys throw the football around and walked along the edge of an estuary we found; water shoes for such an activity are a must. Though beautiful, there was a lot of boat traffic that caused some significant wake so after an hour or so we decided to start our journey back and to stop and fish under the bridge in the process. As we headed back, we watched teens jump from the bridge into the water, Charlie was intrigued but this mama said no. Not sure it’s even really allowed but hats off to the young people who enjoy the thrill. While fishing under the bridge, there were lots of bites and boats coming from all directions at pretty good speed near the lighthouse. A kayaker in his late 20’s tried to venture across but capsized in the rough waves created by the boats. Our son, a strong swimmer, jumped off to help him since our boat was tied to the bridge’s leg and were not able to respond quick enough. Talk about adventure! Thankfully, another boat was able to get them out of the water and the man was able to get up from under his kayak with Charlie’s quick thinking. Intense is an understatement. Lesson here, don’t kayak into that busy intersection; not wise at all.
Bright and early, we were up. With the coffee brewing, it was nice to see and hear the peacefulness of the river just behind the brush. Just a short drive home and we all were able to get unloaded and all gear cleaned up in just about two hours. With this incredible river and state park in our own backyard, it is a must to experience first-hand for a day or a weekend especially if you are hoping to spend more time outdoors camping, biking or hiking. Until next adventure, happy glampin’ and river roamin’! Anna

Love to Shop?
Then you will want to explore the all new LylyJustLyly! Brand new, in downtown Ft. Pierce, this shopping-ista has transformed her large digital presence into an actual brick and mortar. Having had small business owners of local grocery stores as parents; that early exposure created a love of retail and learning about her customers in-person since a young age for LyLy Irizarry. As the Treasure Coast continues to grow and thrive, Lyly realized there was a gap in the shopping experience; inexpensive, but cute, useful items for oneself or as great gifts. With nothing over $30 in the entire store, even teenagers wanting to get a gift for a friend can afford to find the perfect thing that won’t fall apart in their hands. Evolving from its online presence, the boutique is full of pink accents and flare, how perfect for Valentines! So pretty in all the pink, the store catches the eye of everyone – men, women, children –and once inside, they feel comfortable with a cup of complimentary coffee from the coffee bar adding to the nice vibe of this new downtown treasure. Located inside The Galleria of Pierce Harbor, 100 S 2nd St, Fort Pierce, Florida, second floor it’s the newest addition to such an evolving: it’s very creative and very colorful full of other local markets, vendors and close to all the hustle and bustle.
As an entrepreneurial Latin woman, Lyly is passionate to support fellow women in business. To help give back, she’s chose to champion around helping women suffering from domestic violence, she even sells a product in her shop in which the proceeds go to a local organization, JustBreathe365.org which is in support of women who are going through domestic violence. As an active volunteer, she really enjoys working with kids having recently volunteered at the St. Lucie Mets stadium during their “Breakfast with Santa” event.
One of the hottest sellers is the super cute and very convenient to carry, travel pillow with matching eye mask. It’s incredibly soft and zips up very small so you can clip it to your carry-on or suitcase for easy access. It’s only $20 and comes in pink, gray or black. Keep in mind, there will be lots of Valentine’s items to explore as well as numerous spring pieces.

February Out2News Bark Bytes
Article & Photo by: Robin HallOut2News.comBark Byte
February is the month of Valentine hearts and flowers, but did you know that it’s also American Heart Month? To celebrate, Out2News is spotlighting our furry friends pet heart health by focusing on the signs of heart disease in pets, and what pet owners can do to prevent it.
Did you know that ten percent of pets suffer from heart disease? Like humans, animals experience different forms of heart disease – some that are genetic or age-related, and some that develop from other health issues. Many heart problems cannot be prevented, pets can still enjoy healthy, long lives with early detection of disease, careful management, and a healthy lifestyle. Heart conditions in cats and dogs can be expensive for pet owners to treat and are often fatal for pets. Heart conditions become more common for cats and dogs as they near their senior years.
HEARTWORM DISEASE
Heartworms are parasitic worms that infect the heart, lungs, and blood vessels. They are usually transmitted by mosquitos and infect the bloodstream, growing and reproducing over time. As adults, heartworms can cause significant damage to the heart and lungs and may even lead to organ failure. Fortunately, heartworm disease is preventable.
Heart disease: heart disease, looks a little different in dogs and cats than it does in humans. Conditions like coronary heart disease are quite rare in pets. However, pets are susceptible to other forms of heart disease, including the progressive weakening or damaging of the heart’s tissues and congestive heart failure. Older pets are particularly susceptible to this condition.
Heart conditions can be difficult for pet owners to spot, since our pets can’t tell us when they aren’t feeling well.
Common Symptoms, Persistent cough, Difficulty breathing, Low tolerance for exercise, Loss of appetite, Rapid weight loss, Behavioral or mood changes, Fainting or collapsing.
DILATED CARDIOMYOPATHY
One of the most common forms of heart disease in pets is dilated cardiomyopathy. With this disease, the lower chambers of the heart muscle become
enlarged, and the heart wall thins. This causes problems with heart not pumping blood effectively. The result is fluid buildup in the lungs followed by heart failure. While the cause of this disease is unknown, there appears to be a genetic component. Certain dog breeds such as Doberman Pinschers, Great Danes, Cocker Spaniels, and Boxers are affected.
DIET DEFICIENCY
In a recent finding by the FDA, there appears to be a diet deficiency that contributes to the emergence of DCM. Noticed by veterinary cardiologists and nutritionists and reported to the FDA. The agency has reported back that non-hereditary DCM seems to be correlated with grain free diets, specifically those with non-soy legumes high on their ingredient lists. These correlations are still being studied, so for now, we recommend avoiding grain free and BEG (boutique exotic, and grain-free) diets.
Whenever possible, purchase pet food that displays the Association of American Feed Control Officials statement that the pet food is nutritionally balanced and complete. If you have questions about your pet’s diet, please contact your veterinarian.
Signs of DCM
Lethargy, Difficulty breathing, coughing, Exercise intolerance, Panting while at rest, Distended abdomen, Collapse/ fainting.
Diagnosis
Detecting early signs of disease is just one reason for your furry friend’s annual wellness exam. During this exam, if your pet’s veterinarian finds pulse deficits, a heart murmur, slow capillary refill time, or muffled breathing sounds, further diagnostic tests may need to confirm heart disease. These tests may include blood work, radiographs, an EKG, and an ultrasound of the heart, or echocardiogram.
Treatment
If your pet is diagnosed with DCM, rest assured that your vet will most likely do everything
possible to mitigate the disease and keep your pet as comfortable as possible. Treatment usually consists of using several medications in conjunction to stabilize heart function and minimize any arrhythmias. A diuretic may also be prescribed to help your pet eliminate any excess fluid buildup and improve breathing. A vasodilator may be given to dilate the blood vessels and improve circulation.
Living with DCM
DCM is a progressive disease and there is no cure. Careful medical management and regular progress exams will be necessary to ensure your pet has the best quality of life we can give them. You’ll need to monitor your pet’s general attitude and any progression of symptoms, such as labored breathing, lethargy, and coughing. Your vet will discuss your pet’s prognosis and plan to preserve their quality of life and to keep them as comfortable as possible, for as long as possible.
Taking care of your pet’s heart requires lifelong attention and dedication so pay attention to those furry friends. And get those furry friends some Valentine toys to play with!

Executive Directors Corner
I was granted the opportunity to grow up right here in Martin County. I will always be grateful to my parents for this amazing opportunity. The only drawback is that I never get to have out of town company because everyone I know lives here. This past weekend, we had the chance to invite friends we met traveling to come and stay with us in Palm City. They live in New Hampshire so why wouldn’t they choose to leave the snow and cold for a nice weekend in the 80’s in Florida?
We were able to highlight the beauty and friendliness of Martin County. Friday we took a leisurely boat ride in the river and when we got to the inlet the Atlantic Ocean was so calm, that we ventured out. Watching the expressions on the faces of our friends while we cruised along the coastline looking at the wonderful homes, it made me appreciate where we live even more. The fact that we can just get in the boat and cruise into the amazing ocean is something that should be valued every day. Then we came home and had a fresh fish dinner of previously caught local fish.
The Palm City Chamber of Commerce had their annual Clay Shoot on Saturday at the South Florida Shooting Club. So, now we take our guests out west of Palm City to a lovely shooting club venue. The weather was perfect with cloudy skies and a light breeze. Breakfast and lunch was served by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Martin County’s Fork in the Road food truck. Imagine supporting our youth and enjoying great food all at the same time!
Sunday was time for a terrific brunch on the beach at Kyle G’s. The restaurant and scenery made for an excellent treat for our eyes and our bellies. Driving along A1A on the beach and over the bridges, creates a pleasurable experience for your senses. The ocean smells, sounds, and power are always astonishing. Then it was back on the boat for a trip to downtown Stuart with Rockin’ Riverfront. We were able to walk along river and listen to the music. Shopping and a visit to a few restaurants completed the afternoon.
I don’t want to be the person the takes what Martin County has to offer for granted. We didn’t even have time to explore the museums, hiking trails, and parks. Our friends will visit again, and I am confident that we will be able to share more of Martin County proudly!
