« Look what I just baught ! », he said as he came in home from work. He unwrapped the paquet he had put on the table and eagerly pulled out a pair of knitting needles and some wool : « I am going to make something great for your birthday ».
Crossed stitch. Loop stitch. Ever since that night he had been knitting. And once and again he had taken my measures : bustline, arms length, etc. It seemed a never-ending work. My birthday was getting near and he continued to add rows and rows. « Finished ! ». He said, with a very big smile, as he handed out the garment proudly. «Put it on», he said. The sweater fitted me perfectly but the sleeves seemed to be twice as long as my arms. Before I could say anything he asked : « Turn around, please ?»

He came closer to admire his work. Laughing, he catched the hanging sleeves and tied them behind my back in a double knot. «Come on ! You’re joking !», I said, laughing as well. «Yeah, it’s kind of cool! But I guess we’ll need your hands so that you make us dinner», he said finally deciding to untie me. «By the way...What are we eating tonight ?»
