Saturday, June 30 It’s not that Jimmy Rankin puts his heart on his sleeve, but he’s sure not afraid to roll ‘em up and consider the state of love in the modern world. With his fourth solo CD, Forget About the World, Jimmy Rankin serves up a decidedly jubilant songwriter record that celebrates love and life with a fervour. Rankin takes listeners on a musical journey with a dozen songs imbued with a strong sense of imagery that captures the essence of emotions, moments where things change – for the better, for the worse, forever. “I knew I wanted to make a country record, but not a straight ahead country record,” he explains. “I wanted it to be something more, something quiet in places, something reflective – and maybe something that did feel from the heart. People have a hard time categorizing my music. I’ve had an eclectic upbringing – Hank Williams Sr., rock n’ roll, Celtic…and to me, country music is all those things.” www.jimmyrankin.com

Sunday, July 1 (Canada Day)

A special thank you to Ricky’s All Day Grill for the Canada Day ent ertainment and The Rotary Clu bs of Peterboro ugh and the Kawarth as for the fireworks display!

Whether he’s performing country, contemporary, Christian or songs from the 60’s and 70’s, Jim’s versatility as an artist has allowed him the opportunity to reach out and share his music and his infectious personality with audiences of all ages across Canada and the United States. His unique approach and comfortable rapport makes each member of his audience feel as though they are part of a private concert in the comfort of their own living room. Jim’s music and songwriting have been recognized earning him multiple awards and nominations from the Canadian Country Music Association, The Juno Awards and the Dove Awards in Nashville. www.thepianomen.net

Jim Witter Wednesday, July 4 “I guess there’s a part of you that always wants to try something a little bit different than what you’ve done before,” says Carly Rae Jepsen. That’s curiosity for you. Without it, this Vancouver-based musician would never have left her Mission, B.C. hometown for the life of a singer-songwriter — a career that’s so far produced an acclaimed debut album (2008’s Tug of War), a MuchMusic Video Award nomination, two gold-certified singles (“Bucket,” “Tug of War”) and — to top it all — two 2010 Juno Award nominations for Best New Artist and Songwriter of the Year. She also wouldn’t have Curiosity. That’s her new EP, a collection of heart-onsleeve pop songs about, fittingly enough, life’s biggest curiosity — love, and all the complications that come with it. Its sound — a blend of confessional lyrics, sweet acoustic gems and straight-up pop. And then there’s lead single “Call Me Maybe,” the hit that pulses with the same jumpy energy as a new romance — the very thing Carly’s singing about. www.carlyraemusic.com

Saturday, July 7 Ramin Karimloo has starred in the West End as Jean Valjean in Les Misérables and as the iconic Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera (the youngest man ever to to do so), including the 25th anniversary spectacular at the Royal Albert Hall and at The Royal Variety Show, as well as creating the role of the Phantom in Love Never Dies. With a new album “Ramin” recently released with influences as diverse as The Tragically Hip, Johnny Cash and Mumford and Sons, it’s a diary entry from one of the world’s great vocal talents that includes not only his own compositions, but covers of Bryan Adams and Muse songs and his own take on the “Music of the Night” from Phantom of the Opera. www.raminofficial.com

Saturday, July 21 Throughout the years Suzie McNeil has compiled an impressive record of musical accomplishments. These have ranged from live shows beside some of North America’s top acts (Steven Tyler, Alan Frew, Jeff Healey, Dave Navarro, P!nk, INXS, Gavin Rossdale) to consummate professionalism tracking in the studio (Kara Dioguardi, Steven Tyler, Buckcherry, Matt Nathanson, Foreigner) to commercial jingles, to performing in front of crowds of up to 200,000 people. She was also the last woman standing on CBS television’s reality series Rockstar:INXS. Suzie sang back-up vocals for Pink on her North American tour, entertained the troops in Afghanistan on an armed forces tour, performed at the 2010 Winter Olympics Closing Ceremonies, and starred in the Toronto Debut of Queen’s “We Will Rock You” musical as the role of “Oz”. http://suziemcneil.ca

Suzie McNeil Wednesday, July 25 With the release of Northern Redemption, The Abrams Brothers – John, James and cousin Elijah – make a transition from the music of their roots to their own distinct sound. It’s a combination of bluegrass, country and folk-rock that’s had the Canadian festival circuit up in arms over their potential, and the rest are sure to catch on. The Toronto Star has raved, “The Abrams Brothers have been blowing away audiences with their virtuoso playing and effortless harmonies drawn on a long family tradition of bluegrass and folks music.” And that’s just the start of the journey for this album. www.theabramsbrothers.com

Described as “a generous helping of swamp rhythm and blues, soul boogie and bedroom funk.” Asked where their name came from, the band says “A chance remark famous blues singer and guitarist Son House made: ‘I’m talkin’ ‘bout the blues. I ain’t talkin’ about monkey junk.’ We love Mr. House and we get his point, but the word stuck with us.” www.monkeyjunkband.com

Saturday, August 4 A true Canadian rock icon, Kim Mitchell has sold over 1.5 million recordings in this country over a lengthy career that remains creatively vibrant to this day. He has won three Juno Awards for “Most Promising Male Vocalist of the Year”, “Album of the Year” and “Male Vocalist of the Year”. He is a respected song writer having penned and recorded classic hits like Go For Soda, Rock n’ Roll Duty, Patio Lanterns, I am a Wild Party, Easy To Tame and All We Are, to name just a few - all songs that have become part of the Canadian musical genome. Audiences are thrilled to find that participating in a Kim Mitchell concert today is like being at the live recording of a greatest hits box set. It’s in the live concert setting where Kim’s power and passion really shine. In a recent interview, Gene Simmons claimed that KISS would never let Max Webster open for them, stating: “We were terrified of you guys. You could actually play!” www.kimmitchell.ca

The Little Surf Band Wednesday, August 15 For over 40 years, actor, singer, producer, activist, Tom Jackson has has embraced his life experiences, championed for the marginalized, and entertained a continent of concert-goers and TV watchers. Tom has recorded 14 albums, and 2011 marked the release of his fifteenth – ‘Twas in the Moon of Wintertime – in time for his annual Christmas tour of the same name. Hitting the road again at Christmas time marks a 20 year history of cross Canada travel raising awareness and funds for food banks, community service and charitable organizations. For a younger generation of TV viewers, Tom is recognizable from his portrayal of Billy Twofeathers in Shining Time Station, and his guest role in Star Trek The Next Generation. Yet it’s his 6 years of playing Chief Peter Kenidi in CBC’s North of 60 that still draws comments, letters, emails and many hugs from longtime fans. Tom Jackson has received many awards over his amazing career including Humantiarian Awards from the Canadian Country Music Awards, Juno Awards, Gemini Awards as well as being named an officer of the Order of Canada and the Chancellor of Trent University. www.tomjackson.ca

Saturday, August 18 Based in Hamilton, Powerhouse, has performed well over 1,000 shows in Canada, the U.S. and Europe in its 25-year history. There are currently four complete shows in the Powerhouse repertoire: the band’s original Blues Bros./Motown/Soul Revue, and three full tribute shows -- one each of the band Chicago, Rod Stewart and Ray Charles. Dave Battah as Rod Stewart Dave Battah’s Rod Stewart tribute is known as the best in the business – “downright scary” and “uncannily like the real Rod Stewart” says the Blacktown Sun, an Australian newspaper from where Dave was touring last summer. “Playing with the Powerhouse show at any outside festival – like when we played the Festival of the Islands in Gananoque in front of 10,000 people – it’s very powerful (no pun intended). And each show is ‘untoppable’. www.powerhouseband.info

Planned Giving The Peterborough Little Lake Musicfest offers a Planned Giving program for those who appreciate what our organization has done in the past and want to support our continued success in the future. Planned giving is often defined as: 4 A gift made after deliberate consideration through a financial or estate plan 4 A gift made from assets, not current income 4 A gift that offers tax advantages 4 A gift that is arranged now to provide funds to the Peterborough Little Lake Musicfest organization at some time in the future 4 A gift that requires some type of legal documentation.

There are many ways of providing gifts that support the Peterborough Little Lake Musicfest organization during and beyond your lifetime. These include: 4 Bequests in wills 4 Life insurance 4 Gift annuities 4 Charitable remainder trust 4 Cash 4 Transfers of real estate, bonds or securities 4 Named endowments

Tax Break – Capital Gains Exemption

The Federal Government has exempted capital gains tax on gifts of securities to charitable organizations. This provision eliminates the 25% charitable gains tax on gifts of stocks, bonds and mutual funds given to the Peterborough Little Lake Musicfest. This effectively gives you two ways to save on your taxes. First, there is the tax credit for making a charitable gift to the Peterborough Little Lake Musicfest and secondly, there is no capital gains tax to be paid.
